(More customer reviews)A little heavy for what it is desinged for, but that's because it is built like a tank. Compared to other similar items, it may be 2x the price but it is 10x the quality.
I bought this for several small cameras that I take out for family outings. It is probably overkill for my small digital camera, but it keeps the camera still which helps prevent blurry pictures.
It retracts to a relatively compact size and has a padded grip area with a wrist strap. This is definitely a quality piece of equiment and Bogen seems to have one of the best reputations of camera support manufacturers.

(More customer reviews)I loved my starter photography lighting kit! I'm fairly new to photography and want to learn more about studio lighting. I did some research and Cowboy Studio's basic photography kits came into the forefront. This is the perfect starter kit to take family portraits, still life or other product shots. The description on items included is somewhat of a misnomer. There is one full size backdrop stand, two muslin backdrop cloths (one white, one black), two tripod light stands & two lights. The lights can be used in one of three ways: softbox, monolight/continuous strobe or studio flash, one function at a time. The product description seemed as if there were one of each light. The lights are very versatile. The basic monolight can be converted to a softbox merely by slipping the softbox panel over the monolight. The light can be further enhanced by plugging in the studio-sync cords that attach directly to your camera for studio flash. I recommend buying some sandbags for base light supports to prevent tipping. Pro sandbags are made by other manufacturers but they are expensive. To save money you can use Ziploc bags and a few cubic feet of sand from the hardware store. That does the job. The muslin backdrop cloths are 5 ft. x 10 ft. so they aren't big enough to cover the backdrop stand when fully extended. Bigger muslin cloths of 10 x 13 ft & 10 x 20 ft are available from CowboyStudio as accessories.
I took a few test still life shots and self-portraits and they look great! It's amazing what a little light and some shadows can do for a photo. Don't be confused when assembling the kit. See link below for assembly directions. No instructions were included with the kit. It was fairly simple once I saw the illustrations. The whole kit weighs only 24 lbs. and comes with a bag for the sofbox attachments and backdrop frame. It's a very easy to use kit and of high quality. I highly recommend it. I will definitely buy more accessories from CowboyStudios in the near future. Enjoy.[...]

one for Christmas and just got around to installing it on my Sony a700.
I hope to never take it off unless replacing it with another GGS Optical
Glass Protector. This makes reviewing my images a pleasure and I'll
never put the OEM plastic protector back on if at all possible.
Try one of these and I think you will be surprised as well. Much better
than any of the other vinyl, plastic, adhesive or cling protectors.
NO AIR BUBBLES. No distortion at all that I have noticed and much
less glare so far.
I just ordered another for my other camera body and one for my
brother's Pentax. He admired mine and I think he'll be happy with
it and it will protect his LCD better than what he has on it.

Caselogic SLRC-203 Large SLR Camera Bag (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I like this bag a lot and it has become my everyday camera bag. It is well constructed, light weight, strong material and quality zippers, spacious, and in particular the hammock design in the main compartment keeps the camera suspended, providing extra protection if bag is dropped. The bottom itself is thick for additional protection and is very stable. The strap is long so I can wear it either on my shoulder or across my body comfortably. My other bag which is a back-pack design I now primarily use for times that require long hikes. Comparing the two design, I feel this Caselogic bag offers easier access. Whereas the back-pack provides better weight-distribution when carried on both shoulders.
My only caution for interested buyers is to be careful when selecting between the Case Logic SLRC 202 and 203 for proper size. The latter, which is the content of this review, is in my opinion much more spacious after trying both on for size. I actually ordered the 202 (medium) bag first and found the main compartment interior a little snug for my D90 with kit lens and after-market thick strap, while the side pockets too tight for mid or larger sized lenses. For reference, I have a Tokina 11-16 ultrawide and it does NOT fit in the side pockets when the camera is also housed in the main (on the 202). On the other hand, the 203 side pockets are deep & wide and the zippers go all the way down front to back (NoDrop tm), giving great access. The larger bag looks barely bigger than the medium one and yet it still weighs nothing. When loaded with the camera, a flash and 3 lenses, it feels supremely capable for the job. I have not done any measuring, but I doubt a nikon or canon 70-200 2.8 will fit in the side pockets or the main when connected to the body. Finally 203 can carry a tripod.
A strong yet light bag. Highly recommend.

It's now Oct 2010 the bag is in great condition - like new. I use it all the time and now occasionally attach a tripod/monopod to it. Solid bag.

(More customer reviews)Nikon's two newest 3" LCD entries have a tough act to follow, the very popular S7c. The first of these two is the S50. Nice sized camera that easily fits a pocket or purse. But here's what really makes it stand out:
1) Good quality 3x optical periscoping lens with true VR. The periscoping feature means the lens zooms inside the camera body, not outside. This protects the lens from damage if dropped or accidently turned on while in a case (or restricted area like a purse or pocket). The VR is of the optical shift variety, which is far superior to the "anti-blur" modes that simply boost the ISO. But this camera can also go to ISO 1600, getting the best of both worlds;
2) Large 3 inch screen you can see reasonably well at poor angels (such as when holding the camera at low angles or above your head), and better than average outside (at least well enough to take your photographs);
3) Reasonably prices accessories. Nikon reasonable? Yes. Nikon is very reasonable on additional batteries and replacement items. Additionally, they use the SD memory cards, the easiest to find and the most price competitive out there;
4) Great in camera editing. No, it's not a PC-in-a-camera, but it does allow the best in camera editing of any point-and-shoot digital. The D-Lighting is particularly good as saving photos where the important areas are too dark without washing out the light areas.
I also prefer the black finish of the S50 to the silver finish of the S50c. The latter camera features a wireless capability that will not be useful to most, for about $50 more.

Picture quality has been very acceptable. This is not a macro lens but I have been able to get closer to things than I expected. The lens is small, light, and focus is fast and precise. Well worth the low cost.

Nikon D40 Replacement Battery EN-EL9 Review

(More customer reviews)I was somewhat nervous since this battery has higher power (1800 mAh) than the OEM Nikon EN-EL9 (1000mAh). However it works perfectly and will not damage the camera at all (despite what some "Nikonians" would have you believe). The only difference is that this battery lasts even longer than the OEM unit, and is 1/2 to 1/3 the cost. It's a good idea to have a back-up battery for an all-day shoot, and this fits the bill without the cost of the OEM product.
BTW, I found this exact product on Ebay, where Eforcity (dba everydaysource dot com) is selling it for two dollars plus eight dollars shipping. The total cost is an excellent bargain.
** UPDATE 11/14/07-- The battery currently being offered is shown as 1200 mAh, not the 1800 of my original purchase, or the 1000 of the OEM Nikon battery. It is now $12 with shipping, but there may be some quality control issues... Also these sellers keep changing their dba names every few months, so caution is advised. Caveat Emptor
