(More customer reviews)I bought this Trekpod Go in Oct. The monopod is pretty light and very handy as it can be seperated into parts. However, the tripod cannot handle the weight of SLRs eventhough the manufacturers claim to support upto 9lbs.
I have used this but because of the legs being very thin, it shakes for slightest wind. When mounting an SLR its always good to use cable release.
Its a very good investment and is a good spacesaver while travelling.

Upon receiving if very fast from the seller I tried it out and woo, it sure was better than the cheapee one's on the market. I tried it out one cold morning (20 degrees) and it was very easy to use in the cold weather when fingers tend not to work so well. I would recommend the product to other people.

TrekPod Lightweight Monopod/Tripod/Walking Stick Review

(More customer reviews)I have been using my TrekPod since January, 2007.
I never hesitate to take it with me on hikes, and I put it to good use as a walking staff.
Although this is not a professional tripod, I am able to obtain extremely sharp images with my Nikon d200 and 18-200 VR lens. This is a rather heavy piece of equipment making aiming and stability with the small TrekPod ball-head a challenge. I have learned approximately where I have to aim to get the aim point exactly centered after the substantial sag that occurs when I let go of the camera.
To obtain very sharp images I attach the optional VersaMount low on the pole. I watch through the viewfinder until any shake stops, approximately 5 seconds, then I initiate my remote timer with a 4 or 5 second delay with my camera in the Mirror-Up mode and VR off on the lens.
Images are usually fine when I manually release the shutter with the camera on the TrekPod; however, I get at least equal results off the TrekPod hand-holding the camera with the VR activated. Usually, I set the timer in the camera for 5 seconds with the camera on top of the TrekPod, and I get acceptably sharp images.
Although it is challenging, I am able to use my TrekPod to create panoramas with the help of Photoshop CS3.

I would not normally use the TrekPod without having the camera strap around my neck, because the TrekPod is not sufficiently stable to trust expensive equipment to. Think of it as a glorified monopod.
If I went out and spent more than a thousand dollars for a professional tripod and head I would have a much more stable and easy to use camera support. But I would probably leave it home like most people do. I do not leave the TrekPod at home.

Velbon RUP-43 4-Section Monopod Review

(More customer reviews)I just recieved this monopod from Amazon, and the quality far surpasses what I expected. Like the reviewer before me stated, it could actually be used as a walking stick, very sturdy. I looked long and hard before I chose this unit. A lot of other monopods got marginal reviews because they were flimsy and weak... not this one. The hight was important also, I'm 6' tall, and this stick is plenty high enough, even for someone 6'2" or taller. It is a little heavy, and long at 21" collapsed, but the quality more than makes up for it. I was glad I chose this unit with the tilting head, it is far strong enough for my Canon S3, and should handle something 2 or 3 times heavier with ease. The black annodized aluminum is flawless, and the quick clamps are strong and positive. In my opinion: a must buy.

Manfrotto 790B Modo Photo-Video Monopod Review

(More customer reviews)I'm not a big fan of steadying devices for cameras, believing if you can't hold it steady enough, crank up the ISO, raise the shutter speed, open the aperture, or go directly to tripod. However...I'm currently using a Nikon D80 with a 80-400 lens and found that even with Nikon's Vibration Reduction, I was losing the hand held battle in moderate light conditions with the lens at full extension. Hence the monopod purchase.
I used it for three hours this morning and it works just fine. It is lightweight, quick to extend and retract, long enough to accomodate me without stooping (I'm 6'1"), and solid.
An unexpected plus...I attached the monopod to the lens pod mount, and discovered the fully retracted monopod to be an ergonomically pleasing 'handle' that enhanced the camera's balance.
What's not to like here? This product is well built, does everything it's supposed to do, and is fairly priced.
If you need a monopod, I suggest you give this one a try.

(More customer reviews)I've had mine for about a year, but I rarely use it. It does what its supposed to, but take a look at it. Its huge - and much heavier than it needs to be. If you work in a studio its fine. But its not something that you can carry around on the camera and unless you've got a good size camera bag its not something that can be tucked away easily either. So... I still use my RC2 plate unless I'm on location. If you want to see what a good l-bracket looks like check out Kirk Enterprises - but you'll need a home mortgage to switch to their system. Come on Manfrotto you can do better!

It has a really nice finish on it and all the mechanisms are made out of metal making it feel very sturdy. The quick release plate is locked securely and firmly onto the head. It has a release lever to allow the camera to pan without having to hold the trigger. The slot position is adjustable so you can have the camera flip vertical to your right or left for portrait shots. The level is a nice thing to have as well. I tried this on my tripod as well as my monopod and I absolutely love it. It saves so much time by not having to twist and turn all these levers to get it to portrait position, all it takes is one squeeze of the trigger and you can adjust it to any position you want. It makes life a whole lot easier when using this on a monopod, it is quick and easy to adjust so you spend more time shooting and less time fiddling with the knobs and levers of a normal ordinary tripod head.

(More customer reviews)A little heavy for what it is desinged for, but that's because it is built like a tank. Compared to other similar items, it may be 2x the price but it is 10x the quality.
I bought this for several small cameras that I take out for family outings. It is probably overkill for my small digital camera, but it keeps the camera still which helps prevent blurry pictures.
It retracts to a relatively compact size and has a padded grip area with a wrist strap. This is definitely a quality piece of equiment and Bogen seems to have one of the best reputations of camera support manufacturers.

I plan to use this monopod for vacation and at home uses, nothing too demanding. And this is just the ticket. I have a camcorder and the monopod's handle makes it easy to take panning videos. The legs are adjusted by turn-knobs, not flip locks. Still, when all knobs are tightened, the monopod is sturdy and a joy to hold. The padded holding area is rib-like, and made of non-slippery material that helps your hand and arm remain steady. I purchased an extra release plate for this monopod, also through Amazon.com. The plate is called a "Giottos Spare Quick Release Plate for Tripods". It's model no. is 6E01. So far, I'am real satisfied with my purchase. I like this light-weight monopod.

(More customer reviews)I don't know anybody that has gotten fond of their camera strap unless that have also gotten in the habit of holding onto their camera. I can't speak for everyone, but everyone I know has a problem with a Nikon D? hanging from the strap around their neck. It doesn't take long for you to want to grab the camera and take the pressure off of your neck. A full day of this is hell for an older person, while younger people just get use to it.
Here is the solution to the age old camera strap. The SunSniper doesn't work like an ordinary camera strap in two important ways. The first is that the camera isn't fastened to the strap. The strap is very comfortable, and the camera has a very sturdy part made of three metal parts that are securely connected together. At one end it attachés to your camera through the tripod mount at the bottom. Thee parts are engineered very well, and are very strong. At the other end of the metal parts is a D ring, but it's not really a D shape, it is a rectangular shape, as it goes around a flat strap. The camera is free to move all long the strap.
The strap has padded shoulder pads that are very will designed and can be adjusted to be anywhere on the strap. The idea is that everyone will have to adjust the strap to suit themselves. The strap is a sling type, so it goes cross from your shoulder to your opposite side, more like a seat belt.
Your camera can ride anywhere along your side, or on your backside, it's up to you where the camera sets when you are not using it. The main thing to note is that you won't be holding it, this is because the weight is not pulling on your neck.
When you want to take a picture, you simply reach down and grab your camera, as you raise the camera up it is sliding up the strap with ease. You will feel not resistance from the strap as you take your pictures. When you are done, you just rest it back down the strap and let it rest.
A video might be in store to demonstrate the ease of using this Sunsniper strap. I have tried to carry my camera will all kinds of straps, but this is the one to end that search for the perfect strap. There are others like it, and I won't dear say that they are not as good, but the design will be similar. I can tell you that I am a fan of fine engineering, and the Sunsniper was not made in any cheap way. It is rugged, comfortable, simple and easy to use.

(More customer reviews)When shopping for a ball head for my monopod I found this on super discount - less than twenty bucks. It's solid and all the important parts are metal. The only problem was that it requires a bushing to make the screw thread smaller so it can fit my monopod. Samys Camera had a brass one for $7 so I didn't return the ball head or try to get a bushing online. So for twenty-five bucks I've got a solid metal ball head which is strong enough to easily hold my Nikon D5000 or a video camera. Samys didn't have anything comparible for this price.

Opteka SW-1 Sidewinder Joystick Pistol Grip Ball Head with Quick Release Plate for Tripods & Monopods Review

(More customer reviews)The Opteka SW-1 seems very well built, it is all metal and features a nice quick release plate. The relase plate can be attached to either the end oposite the ball or the end with the trigger. It is attached using an allen screw so it isn't the kind of thing you will be moving between mounting positions frequently. An allen wrench is included. The SW-1 also has a tension adjustment that helps hold the head in place when you have a heavy load on it. It also comes with a tripod/monopod screw insert so you can use the ball head on either a tripod or monopod. The ball itself is pretty large, I'm guessing around 1.25"
When the head is locked into place, surpisingly, it is very stable. It easily holds my Canon 7D with battery grip and 300mm f4 lens. The spring loaded trigger works smoothly, but you can tell there is a strong spring in the head. This may cause problems if you have arthritis in your hands or have very weak fingers, but most people should be able to easily operate it.
Now here is why this isn't a 5 Star Review: When I first used this ball head it was VERY sticky when you tried to release and move it to a new position. It was usable, but it wouldn't move smoothly and it felt like you were using a very cheap ball head. It seemed like it needed some lubrication but I was thinking that grease wouldn't be a good thing to use for the long run. I wound up moving the ball head to the 90 degree position so most of the ball was exposed and then took a #2 pencil and "colored in" the exposed area of the ball. Then I exposed a different area and repeated the "coloring in" process. Guess what? Sticky problem solved! The head moves VERY smoothly and is a pleasure to use! No 5 stars because I'm not sure how long this fix will last.
Given the low price, this ball head is an excellent value if you are looking for a pistol grip type ball head.
