(More customer reviews)I was looking around for an inexpensive, all-purpose tripod, and having a difficult time picking from among the many choices. A colleague recommended I look into Cullmann. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend for a "cheap" tripod, but I entertained the curiosity nonetheless.
Some research revealed that Cullmann makes nice stuff. It's not the generic, rebranded crap that you see in the $20-$50 range (Slik, Velbon, et cetera, et cetera).
So, having settled on the brand, I was leaning toward the 220 model, but its maximum deployed height isn't very tall, and I'm not fond of the head...so I went with the 250.
I've been using it for about three months now. I've shot video with it using a a Sony PD-150 (3.5 lbs), and have used it extensively with a Sony DSC-H20 for stills. It's forte is stills, to be sure, but it's more than serviceable for video, especially for places where you can't fit/carry/etc a larger tripod. The macro feature is a nice bonus, and it works well as a mono-pod for those situations when you need one.
All in all, highly recommended. The best tripod in this price bracket, in my opinion.

Manfrotto 790B Modo Photo-Video Monopod Review

(More customer reviews)I'm not a big fan of steadying devices for cameras, believing if you can't hold it steady enough, crank up the ISO, raise the shutter speed, open the aperture, or go directly to tripod. However...I'm currently using a Nikon D80 with a 80-400 lens and found that even with Nikon's Vibration Reduction, I was losing the hand held battle in moderate light conditions with the lens at full extension. Hence the monopod purchase.
I used it for three hours this morning and it works just fine. It is lightweight, quick to extend and retract, long enough to accomodate me without stooping (I'm 6'1"), and solid.
An unexpected plus...I attached the monopod to the lens pod mount, and discovered the fully retracted monopod to be an ergonomically pleasing 'handle' that enhanced the camera's balance.
What's not to like here? This product is well built, does everything it's supposed to do, and is fairly priced.
If you need a monopod, I suggest you give this one a try.

Velbon QB-5LC - Quick release plate Review

(More customer reviews)I couldn't find a quick release plate for my old Ambico tripod after a long search on Google, so I measured the opening where the plate rests. I logged on to several web-sites only to find out that all they provided was a picture of their quick release plates. Others had plate numbers for certain models of tripods, which is OK if you need to order a replacement plate for a specific model tripod.
After much searching, I came across the Adorama Camera web-site. They had specifications with their Quick Release Plates along with very good pictures. I found one that closely matched my measurements and appeared to look the same as my old one. After I received my plate, I did a little filing and sanding and had a plate that matched my tripod.
The price was very reasonable and the item was shipped and in my hands in just a few days. The extra effort they put in to list each plate's measurements, resulted in a satisfied customer.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this tripod because I needed a solid, general-use tripod, a friend suggested Sunpak and Slik tripods as good brands, and I'm on a student's budget.
I was wowed with this tripod from the moment I got it out of the box. It's attractive, it's much more solid than I expected from a couple pounds of aluminium and plastic, and it's a breeze to set up and play with. The various screws, cranks, and levers are easy to operate and it's simple to figure out which does what. I don't need the two quick-change plates, personally, but they're fun to play with and I'd imagine they'd be quite useful. Same goes for the retractable leg-spikes (I don't shoot outdoors much).
One caveat: it's not dead steady, just pretty darn steady. If you're going to be shooting a lot on uneven terrain, shakey ground, or high winds, well, what are you doing buying a cheap tripod? That camera's pricey! Alternatively, a bag of rocks hung from the base of the center pole can do wonders for stability.
All in all, an amazing tripod for such a low price.

Nikon SW-13H Diffusion Dome - 4949 Review

(More customer reviews)I was shooting a wedding when I dropped one of my Nikon SB-900's which of course is built like a tank and showed no signs of damage and kept on shooting. However what did suffer was the little tang on the side of the diffuser so I ordered this replacement and am keeping the broken one as backup. This is a must have item for any strobist out there. I have used the Omni Bounce and several other light diffusers but for quick set up to shooting I love using this Nikon diffuser. I find it to be much better thought out than the 3rd party brands for example it has a diffusion grid molded into the plastic to further assist in getting the diffused light nice and wide. Also when mounted on the flash it actuates a tiny micro switch that tells the flash to go extra wide to aid even light dispersion even more. My recommendation if you are a strobist kind of shooter is to always have a spare or so around or at least some gaffers tape :)

Nikon - Camera flash connection kit - black Review

(More customer reviews)It adds a PC sync socket to cameras that only have a hot shoe and makes it possible to use a much larger selection of flash units with a variety of cameras, not just Nikon.
While it does not do TTL, most flash units can use their automatic sensors to meter output.
Used it extensively with a Nikon Coolpix 5000 and newer Vivitar 285 and 283 flash units. Also tested it with a Canon Rebel.
Please note:
Make sure you test your flash's trigger voltage if using something not recommended for your camera, digital or not.
If you have a camera that uses iTTL, like the Nikon D70s, you pretty much have to get one of the iTTL flash units.
