(More customer reviews)I wish I had actually held this in my hands before I bought it. Although it does its job, it's just not that well built. I don't think the plastic housing could have possibly been any cheesier. The switches are flimsy and they feel cheap and fragile when you use them. The removable diffuser relies on friction to hold it in place, so bring some gaffer tape along because it won't stay in place otherwise. Be very careful when threading this onto your lens as the soft plastic threads have the potential to be permanently destroyed. I've managed to avoid this so far, but I cringe inwardly whenever I attach this unit. At least $100 overpriced, in my opinion.

You even have the choice of using this bracket left or right handed & it has the ETTL2 cord for Canon EOS cameras to install your speedlite on this bracket at different angles. Only issue was the other cord, 'the push or clicker extended cord' installed already in this bracket. It's purpose was to make taking pictures a little easier, but it was no use for me. It was not the right extended cord recommended for my type of Canon camera, this cord was probably made for Nikon cameras. Seller should of gave us a choice to request for the right extended cord for your particular camera, thats why I gave this review 4 stars. Anyway, it's still a great bracket.

Custom Brackets CB Junior Kit, with CN-JR Flash Anti-Twist Bar & AT Camera Anti-Twist Review

(More customer reviews)I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the CB Junior. The precision machine work on the bracket is evident, right off the bat and the 3/8" aluminum leaves no doubt it will support the equipment. Local camera shops only carried a leading competitor, so I had no hands on time with the CB Junior. I think the shops are missing out here. Once you see the CB Junior and hold it, in my opinion, there is no comparison.
The offset camera mount allows access to all camera controls on my Canon 40D even with a battery pack. The mount is also tapped for a tripod or plate adaptor.
The flash bar works smoothly with a cam/spring mechanism, which holds the bar securely in either position, yet it is easily flipped from on to the other.
The handgrip is a solid feeling piece of foam, which surrounds a solid handle. It has no play, slipping or rotating at all, as some foam grips do.
I would recommend the CB Junior "kit", which includes the anti-twist bars. Not sure why these aren't standard equipment. Both pieces are equal in workmanship to the bracket itself. I was skeptical of how the camera anti twist plate could work for all Canon, Nikon or Fuji cameras until I saw how it attached to the bracket. Its simplicity makes you wonder why some other brackets require a different anti-twist plate for each camera and still another if there is a battery pack attached.
Highly recommend this bracket.

(More customer reviews)Why am I taking the trouble to review something so small and seemingly insignificant? Well, in short, it's great piece of gear.
Originally, I bought this, along with a Paramount Hotshoe to Household cord when I first started playing with off camera flash. It was great, because the 15' paramount cord was usually long enough, but it it wasn't, I could use $2 extension cords to extend the reach, rather than $40 PC-Sync extension cords. Other than the widely available, super cheap extension cords, the household plug is infinity more durable than PC Sync connectors.
What do I use this for now that I've gone wireless? With shoe flashes that don't have PC Sync ports, or wired sync ports of any type for that matter, you have to sync with the hotshoe on the flash. So, I put the flash on this adapter, and use household to miniphone cables (I use Skyports, which have miniphone jacks on them) to acheive sync with my flashes that don't have wired sync ports. I've used this on the Nikon SB600, Nikon SB24, Sunpak 383S, and Canon 430EX flashes without issue.
Another neat trick I've used this for is extending the reach of cheap 'ebay' triggers. The triggers I had previous to my Skyports were the Cactus variety, where the receivers had hotshoes on them. They're handy triggers, but I didn't find them to be very reliable. On one shoot, I wanted to put a flash behind a stone wall that was about 15" thick. As I expected, it didn't work. So, I put the flash on this adapter, and ran the Paramount Hotshoe to household cable (mentioned earlier) to this adapter, attached the hotshoe side of the cable to the hotshoe on the receiver, and place the receiver on the other side of the wall so that it would actually trigger.
All in all, a very handy little part to have! I use it in some fashion on every shoot. Also, it's really durable, unlike most other wired sync-to-hothoe adapters other there. I only own one, but I'm going to order a few more soon, as they're wonderful for my wireless setup.

Great power, fast recycle, dependable... but it is small and light enough to attach to your camera body. That is much easier than a Turbo 2x2 on your shoulder. It has enough juice for most shoots, but it do not expect 300 shots at full power. A wedding would take a few of these small units. The one complaint is that it is hard to mount a bracket to the bottom of the battery. It mounts on the screw mechanism and makes the whole thing a bit wiggly. It works but... All in all a great unit for someone who does not use a bracket.

keep in mind i'm new to photography. so, i really have nothing else besides my on-camera pop up flash to compare this flash unit to.
the difference in your flash photography will dramatically DRAMATICALLY improve with the use of this flash. it will improve even more with the use the Sto-Fen Omni Bounce flash difuser. being able to aim and "bounce" the light from this flash makes 'red eye' and washed out color a thing of the past. not to mention you will no longer blind your subjects because you can aim the flash away from their faces. you can also use this flash as a slave (stand alone) for those impossible lighting needs.
since i'm a beginner, i keep it set to the automatic mode. it does a great job, but if i ever decide to go the manual route, i can.
if you're still depending on your pop up flash, do yourself a favor and buy this product.

I can tilt the flash up and use the built-in diffuser to backlight an entire living room, yet keep the subjects in the foreground properly exposed. Group shots turn out great as the light is bright and spreads out wide and even. This flash can illuminate an entire living room, or put light on close ups with just the proper exposure. A great convenience is that when this flash is attached to the F828, the F828 automatically switches to an external flash mode and disables the built-in flash. No need to fumble with the settings. Vivitar V-4000 35mm SLR Camera Kit w/ 35-70mm Lens Review

(More customer reviews)In my day (15 years ago), a typical manual SLR had a max of 1/1000 shutter speed and a 50mm lens. Today, most manual SLR's have a max of 1/2000 and a zoom lens. The Vivitar V4000 camera is a modern-day entry-level SLR. The K-mount lens mount was developed by Pentax and incorporated in the extremely popular Pentax K-1000 released in the 1970s and sold as new until being discontinued by Pentax recently. The K-mount is pretty much THE lens mount for manual focus lenses and is shared across several manufacturer's lines: Pentax, Vivitar, Olympus, and Chinon to name a few, so you can expect to find a variety of lenses (new and used) at just about every camera shop in town. A K-mount lens made in the '80s will fit a '00s K-mount camera.
As you look at the camera front, the knob on the right at the top is the film rewinder. The flash shoe is in the middle, the knob next to it on the left is the film speed and shutter speed selector, and the film winder is on the far left. A ring around the base of the lens sets the aperture, from f3 to f22 (or maybe f16, I can't recall exactly). Hands-off shutter cable release is the inexpensive screw-in type, widely used and available everywhere.
Light metering is 3 LED lights - 1 red over, 1 green in, 1 red under, and averages the frame (I don't believe center-weighted is available but I could be wrong). The batteries power the meter only, so you can still use the camera if the batteries die (something that autofocus cameras can't do).

(make sure this is the latest model with the added "handle on the front to hold with your left hand - instead of the lens - much more comfortable than the earlier model). Not only great for hand-held shooting at events, parties, etc, but works great on a tripod (get the Quick Release accessory!). I use it when I'm shooting product also, because once I have the camera level (using a spirit level) I can go accurately from landscape to portrait instantly.

A flash and umbrella would probably survive a full length drop, but I wouldn't test it. I don't know if it's just me, but I think it weighs more than 5 lbs. I don't have a scale handy, but it's definitely more than my 5 lb laptop. I will certainly buy a few more of these.

Sigma Flash Macro Ring EM-140 DG for Pentax SLR Cameras Review

(More customer reviews)I have been searching the net for a reveiw of this flash. Since I couldn't find one I just went out and purchased one. Yes this flash works iTTL on a D70. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a more robust hot shoe like the SB 600 or DX 50 both Nikon flashes I own. (I have a Nikon SB 21 and it's hot shoe has worn out being the all plastic as well) . Other than this negative this product seems very well built and sturdy. The flash is permanently attached to the control head unlike the Nikon ring flash which was in 2 parts. This makes stowage a litte difficult in your camera bag however it does come supplied with it's own very nice ballastic nylon bag. Unlike the Nikon the cable is spring coiled and always stays neatly out of the way. It is a good sturdy and well reinforced cable. It's controls are fairly simple to figure out. took some pictures today of orchids and the exposures were (mostly) perfect. I put my camera on the full PHD mode (push here dummy) and the EM 140 DG on iTTL and shot away. Most of the shots were perfectly illuminated. I then switched to A mode that the instruction booklet tells you to use when shooting macro distances. In this mode I was able to set the bracket mode to vary the flash and it worked like a charm . In all cases the middle shot was the best . Battery life was good I took over 70 shots today and the recycle time was still very rapid. I am in no means an expert on either the D70 or photography in general. I also tried the manual mode with both flash and camera and was able to experiment to get stunning results. Sometimes you want the background to be blacked out and you need full manual. You can also vary the output independetly of both sides.In manual its easy to shoot and check results in the display. You have to love digital for this alone. I was using this flash on a 70-180mm Macro Nikon and had to get a 58mm to 62mm step up ring. It worked well and did not impede the field of view at all. Sigma supplies a 55mm and 58mm with the unit. This attachment is very well made and also much nicer than the flimsy one that Nikon supplies. You will have to go to the Sigma website to buy other sizes which I think are 62mm 72mm and 77mm. I'm very happy that I got this flash. However like any camera equipment the best test is to go buy one and try it for yourself. Good shooting.

I have used it on my Canon cameras with Norman (2000 and 800) and Novatron (440) power packs and have had no problems. It is great not tripping over wires anymore. I could suggest some improvements, like an easier to remove cover. Its really difficult to change the bigger case batteries. Another very good idea could be an extra socket over the transmitter, so we could use 2 flashes, one over the camera and another one remote. Ok, I could use the canon 580ex II flash unit to do this, but its much more expensive for a hobbyist like me. I have a speedlite 430ex II. I am quite sure I can buy 2 (or more) of these flash triggers and use 2 flashes remotely. What this evaluated product gives me is the opportunity to change the light perspective over the scene. It is also not full compatible with the camera/flash set. Its perfectly justifiable, as the product is generic. What happens is that you have to set the flash options manually, but its ok. Probably a specific and full compatible product would cost much more. I am totally satisfied.
