(More customer reviews)I wish I had actually held this in my hands before I bought it. Although it does its job, it's just not that well built. I don't think the plastic housing could have possibly been any cheesier. The switches are flimsy and they feel cheap and fragile when you use them. The removable diffuser relies on friction to hold it in place, so bring some gaffer tape along because it won't stay in place otherwise. Be very careful when threading this onto your lens as the soft plastic threads have the potential to be permanently destroyed. I've managed to avoid this so far, but I cringe inwardly whenever I attach this unit. At least $100 overpriced, in my opinion.

(More customer reviews)Yes it is more expensive than I was used to by other tripods, and yes is bulky and a little big to carry arround all the time. Appart from this, it is what I wanted out of a tripod: firm even on windy situations, the grip head lets you a very quick position of the camera, the leg system of the tripos lets you adjust to every imagine or unreal scenario. If you like to shoot portraits or macro photography you will be very pleased with this versatility. I would defenetely recommend this product if you are or you are becoming a serious photographer.

(More customer reviews)I have been searching the net for a reveiw of this flash. Since I couldn't find one I just went out and purchased one. Yes this flash works iTTL on a D70. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a more robust hot shoe like the SB 600 or DX 50 both Nikon flashes I own. (I have a Nikon SB 21 and it's hot shoe has worn out being the all plastic as well) . Other than this negative this product seems very well built and sturdy. The flash is permanently attached to the control head unlike the Nikon ring flash which was in 2 parts. This makes stowage a litte difficult in your camera bag however it does come supplied with it's own very nice ballastic nylon bag. Unlike the Nikon the cable is spring coiled and always stays neatly out of the way. It is a good sturdy and well reinforced cable. It's controls are fairly simple to figure out. took some pictures today of orchids and the exposures were (mostly) perfect. I put my camera on the full PHD mode (push here dummy) and the EM 140 DG on iTTL and shot away. Most of the shots were perfectly illuminated. I then switched to A mode that the instruction booklet tells you to use when shooting macro distances. In this mode I was able to set the bracket mode to vary the flash and it worked like a charm . In all cases the middle shot was the best . Battery life was good I took over 70 shots today and the recycle time was still very rapid. I am in no means an expert on either the D70 or photography in general. I also tried the manual mode with both flash and camera and was able to experiment to get stunning results. Sometimes you want the background to be blacked out and you need full manual. You can also vary the output independetly of both sides.In manual its easy to shoot and check results in the display. You have to love digital for this alone. I was using this flash on a 70-180mm Macro Nikon and had to get a 58mm to 62mm step up ring. It worked well and did not impede the field of view at all. Sigma supplies a 55mm and 58mm with the unit. This attachment is very well made and also much nicer than the flimsy one that Nikon supplies. You will have to go to the Sigma website to buy other sizes which I think are 62mm 72mm and 77mm. I'm very happy that I got this flash. However like any camera equipment the best test is to go buy one and try it for yourself. Good shooting.

I found the best way to use it is to use manual focus and zoom the camera to around 25X. Then get closer or farther away from the object till it was in focus and bang! Take the shot. I could not be happier with this lens. It is so far above the camera macro function it is just crazy! Get one if you have the Panasonic DMC-FZ100. Get one now! You will thank me for it!

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased the Nikon D200 camera. I had several nice zoom lenses but I did not have anything which would take macro close-up photos. I did some research and found good reviews for this lens. So I got it.
The lens is an excellent lens for close-up photos. I am not a professional photographer but I try really hard to get good sharp photos. This lens will do the job.
Since it is also also a 50mm lens I have used it as a normal lens. The only problem with that is that over the years many of us have been spoiled with zoom lenses. With a zoom lens you can stand in one spot and zoom the lens in or out to get closer or father from your subject. With just the 50mm capability of this lens you have to physically move in or out to get a closer shot or a wider shot. This is not necessarily a criticism, just a comment about how we have been spoiled by zoom lenses.
I do not believe you will be disappointed with this lens. The price is great for the quality.

Raynox DCR 150 - Converter Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this lense in a package that came with both the Raynox DCR-150 and the Raynox DCR-250. Both lenses are excellent when snapped on the front of my Panasonic FZ8. Really any camera with a decent zoom should perform well.
Having both the Raynox 150 and 250 allows for some comparison. To be honest, I like the 150 better. I use it exclusively when I'm out in nature, the 250 has a much shallower depth of field, and is too hard to use handheld. The 150 gets a great macro, as you can see if you look at the customer images above, and the depth of field is much more forgiving. I have had far greater luck using my 150 in real world situations than my 250.
The lense takes a bit of getting used to. Some people will only shoot on manual focus, but I find this frustrating. Most cameras focus fast enough, I know my FZ8 does, and I have no problems at all. In general you just have to get into the right range (about 6" or so), and your camera will focus just fine.
In all I definitely recommend this product, especially if you have a nice super zoom camera like the Panasonic FZ8.

Zykkor 72 mm +1 +2 +4 +10 Close Up Filters Kit and Cleaning Cloth Review

(More customer reviews)There are four filters in this package that enhances an existing lens, turning it into a Macro lens. I received my set today and have tried it out. The M+1, M+2, M+4, and M+10 filters are amazing, turning my non-macro-capable Tamron 17-50 DiII VC into a macro lens. Normally, this lens has a minimum distance of 1ft. With the M+10 threaded, I could get up close and personal (almost touching the object) The quality is great; Metal rings with glass elements (no cheap plastic here).
It's tricky to use, however. For one thing, the depth of field is very narrow. You'll probably have to manually focus and also adjust the distance from your object to the camera to get things in focus. This wasn't a problem for me when I tested it out, taking pictures of my son's Jessie (from Toy Story 2) figure that was lying around and thus convenient (at 2am, I wasn't picky on my subject matter, plus I wanted to try these things out)
The reason it lost a star was because the worksmanship of one of 4 filters rattle, the M+1. It still works as a filter, just rattles a bit. Also, but this might be because it's 2am in the morning, the M+1 seems to have a slight orange tinge.
Also, you might have trouble stacking some of these, as the glass gets in the way, even if they're double-threaded.
I've already ordered a replacement (from the same seller), and will be returning this one back. Hopefully, the replacement won't have this problem. (and hopefully I won't have any problems getting my refund for the one I'm returning.)
I tried to upload a video (taken from my Canon 60D with the M+2 filter attached) showing how the M+1 rattles, but something's causing it to stall.

(More customer reviews)This is a generic focusing rail slider that is sold by numerous vendors at many websites under several different names. I think it emanates from Hong Kong. Who knows where they get them from.
I've used it a couple of times and I'm generally pleased so far. The materials look good and it feels solid.
A few observations:
1. It's pretty heavy. Shipping weight was supposedly 1 pound, but I think somebody rounded that off in the down direction. It feels heavier than that. It really needs a good tripod and it's not the kind of thing you want to carry around all the time.
2. The adjustments are not terribly fine. It's certainly no micrometer. I put a few drops of military grade weapons oil on the teeth to smooth things out, but that made little difference.
3. Attaching the camera is a bit difficult because the tripod screw nob is close to some of the other adjusting nobs. Quick release plates can help alleviate this problem, but that adds more weight and more things that can "wiggle" when taking photos. In closeups, that's really bad.
I took several pics of a small cactus flower about an inch in diameter using a small Nikon 50mm prime lens and a short extension tube. Working distance was about 3 inches from the flower. The rails help a lot with focus and framing, but a tiny rotation of the back and forth adjustment was enough to knock the camera completely out of focus. I used an old Vivitar tripod. Next time I'll use a much heavier Induro A313 tripod and a Manfrotto tilt head with the rail. That should allow use of larger lenses and result in sharper photos.

(More customer reviews)The filters arrived in a very timely fashion. I really like the filter pouch as it is padded and easy to choose another filter. There would be space to include a microfiber cleaning cloth. I had no difficulty using them with the Nikon D70 S with a 18-70mm lens. However, if I had never used diopters before, there were no instructions included. It did not warn that you may have to set on manual focus and that to improve sharpness, a tripod was strongly recommended. One cannot expect all of an image to be in sharp focus with higher magnification due to the decreased DOF.

Then, I ordered this 52-58 coupler and received a 52-58 STEP UP. Fotodiox really needs to start paying attention to what they're putting in their shipping bags.
