It makes colors much brighter and it removes glare when you rotate it. Everything comes out so clear and sharp. I have this set in 52, 58, and 72mm. I am planning on buying the other sizes soon.

For the price you pay, you get what you pay for. That said, it's good for the price I paid. It protects my lens and does not affect image quality. At least not that's noticeable (i'm not a professional). 7 out of 10 stars.

(More customer reviews)I never take my UV filter off of my lens unless I am going to immediately put on a different filter. There are basically two camps out there, those that feel you should always use a UV filter to protect your lens from dirt and scratches and those that feel it is a waste of time and only degrades your image. Well, I tried going without one for awhile and then dirt started to build up on the front element of my very expense lens. And although you can clean the front element of a lens, I feel much, much safer wiping my comparatively cheap UV filter time and time again rather than chancing any actual lens damage. I think for the nearly unquantifiable loss in image quality you may suffer by having a UV filter on, it is well worth the extra piece of mind it gives me.

Zykkor 72 mm +1 +2 +4 +10 Close Up Filters Kit and Cleaning Cloth Review

(More customer reviews)There are four filters in this package that enhances an existing lens, turning it into a Macro lens. I received my set today and have tried it out. The M+1, M+2, M+4, and M+10 filters are amazing, turning my non-macro-capable Tamron 17-50 DiII VC into a macro lens. Normally, this lens has a minimum distance of 1ft. With the M+10 threaded, I could get up close and personal (almost touching the object) The quality is great; Metal rings with glass elements (no cheap plastic here).
It's tricky to use, however. For one thing, the depth of field is very narrow. You'll probably have to manually focus and also adjust the distance from your object to the camera to get things in focus. This wasn't a problem for me when I tested it out, taking pictures of my son's Jessie (from Toy Story 2) figure that was lying around and thus convenient (at 2am, I wasn't picky on my subject matter, plus I wanted to try these things out)
The reason it lost a star was because the worksmanship of one of 4 filters rattle, the M+1. It still works as a filter, just rattles a bit. Also, but this might be because it's 2am in the morning, the M+1 seems to have a slight orange tinge.
Also, you might have trouble stacking some of these, as the glass gets in the way, even if they're double-threaded.
I've already ordered a replacement (from the same seller), and will be returning this one back. Hopefully, the replacement won't have this problem. (and hopefully I won't have any problems getting my refund for the one I'm returning.)
I tried to upload a video (taken from my Canon 60D with the M+2 filter attached) showing how the M+1 rattles, but something's causing it to stall.

(More customer reviews)Some people prefer B+W filters, and that's fine with me. I say that Hoya makes the best of the best, but at this level, the top offering from either brand is supurb. There have been several Hoya Pro 1 filter lines over time, and all are outstanding. Pro 1, Super Pro 1, or the newer digital Pro 1 lines are all as good as a filter gets.
Whatever you do, don't put a cheap filter in front of an expensive lens.

Hoya PRO1 Digital - Filter - UV - 67 mm Review

(More customer reviews)There are cheaper filters, and there are more expensive filters. How much should I be paying?
Conventional wisdom says don't hamper your expensive lenses with a cheap filter - so you want to avoid the el cheapos out there. But how good is "good enough"?
For my uses, I have been using the higher end Hoya filters - like the DMC and SMC versions - and have not been disappointed at all. I have two of this particular filter; one lives full time on my Canon 24-105 f/4L and the other lives on my Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5. Not a problem with either of them so far. I have also owned Tiffen (a little bit cheaper - but more flare), and B+W (more expensive, equal performance to the Hoya IMHO).
And I should mention that I use the 24-105mm as my walkabout lens and I like to be ready to shoot, so I rarely use a lens cap. I regard this Hoya filter as my "see-through lens cap", and it does its job (protecting the lens itself) admirably, without a lot of flare or optical distortion (at least to my eyes). So far it has cleaned up easily and proven quite durable, as I tend to travel a lot and shoot in semi-harsh conditions.
I am sure that eventually I'll have to replace my UV filter after the inevitable accident or incident. And when the time comes, it'll be another Hoya filter, just like this one.

(More customer reviews)Simply put, there are more affordable options that provide more than adequate if not equal optics for the money. But if you swap filters often enough you'll probably find that B+W's filters have less issues with flex and, more importantly, soft (i.e., easily damaged) threads like those sold by Tiffen and Hoya that I've experienced in the past. Cross-threading a filter is NOT my idea of providing nice treatment to any of those expensive lenses of mine, and having done that once or twice in my lifetime I've sworn that I will always do my best to get the best-made filters available to protect and use on MY glass, even if it costs a bit more. Any filter can be damaged, but I've had great experiences with B+W products and until they prove themselves otherwise unworthy, will continue to use them again and again.

Zeikos ZE-UV72 72mm Multi-Coated UV Filter Review

The purpose of multi-coating is to reduce reflections from the surface of the glass. These filters appear to have the same reflectivity as a plain piece of glass. And, unlike every other multi-coated filter that I own, reflections from this Zeikos filter are untinted. As far as I know, that's pretty much impossible with a true multi-coated filter.
My conclusion? Either the filters I received have serious manufacturing defects or somebody is shading the truth. Since other reviewers have commented about the lack of tinted reflections, I'm assuming it's the latter. Both filters (the 52 and 72mm) have been returned to Amazon for refund.
