The camera operation is really easy. The menu layout is simple and navigated with a 4 direction joystick. The graphics and icons are well designed.
The quality is decent and while walking and recoding the video came out pretty good. The 4x zoom works but it zoom in very far or zoom out very far and it's hard to master going slowly. I had difficulty taking still shots too, mastering holding the camcorder still enough.
For what I want to use the camera for; is taking hiking videos, and/or uploading to YouTube or Facebook and for that I think it will work fine!

(More customer reviews)I'm not a compulsive buyer. Sure I'm not, but after finding this product in amazon and reading the specifications on the Aiptek web site, I made my decision of purchasing it. The introductory price of $199.00, made my decision a lot easier, but even at the price of $299.99 I would do it.
Literally I was waiting for this camera: All the functions I always wanted for less than $300. In my case, "HD" + "External mic jack" +"12x Optical zoom" + Image Stabilizer" are functions I never found at this price range, until now. Just read the specifications and you'll be surprised how many functions this little wonder has.
Extremely easy to use. The video quality surpassed my expectations. And as a bonus, in addition to the Video Light, it has a flash strobe to use when you take your pictures.
Only two minor cons that does not change my rate:
Accessibility of controls: It's size make some times a little hard to use the 5-way joystick, and the buttons for record, play back, menu and mode are sometimes difficult to reach with my thumb.
Product Manual: In some cases, the manual is not so specific: just an example... if you set the video resolution to HD 1080i 60f, you can't use the nightshot function. I had to guess it..nothing is mentioned in the included manuals (printed+ PDF version) .
Anyway, an excellent product by Aiptek.

The quality is good and I am using it for blogging and direct video uploads to youtube. So far I have had absolutely no problem, and while the video upload quality is not as high as the larger camcorders in the 200-300 dollar range, this is perfect for on-the-go filming and pictures, with no headache from a complicated learning curve. I was looking for the smallest, most affordable point and shoot camera and definitely found it! With HD even! Will definitely recommend this to family and friends...worth the money.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this half months ago to supplement my photography bag. I already own a Nikon D70 DSLR, so I purchased the SVP T100 as a take-along digital cam for situations where I didn't want to lug around the D70, and also as a digital camcorder for quick videos.
Compared on any one feature, the T100 falls short to any other dedicated device. But taken as a whole, and for the price, it's a useful gadget.
I have used over a dozen digital cameras and SLRs for over 15 years. The SVP is impressive for the money. I paid about $70 for it, and I think it's worth that for sure.
The digital camera is acceptable. White balance and colors are pretty good, though the color range is somewhat muted - easily fixed with photo software. With adequate lighting and if your subject is posed or otherwise unmoving, it does a pretty good job. Shutter lag is significant and there isn't any control of shutter speed/aperture anyway - so don't expect to use this in situations with fast-moving objects. You can manually control the white balance and some photo frames that will really only be useful for children, but they are there. While it does turn out the camera as being able to take pictures at 16MP resolution, the actual sensor is for 5MP.As a camcorder, the SVP T100 is much more impressive. It does a good job at capturing any sort of scene, provided the lighting is adequatewith $X digital room means that your options are somewhat limited - but it does a great job at capturing an everyday, well-lit scene. Audio quality is surprisingly good too. Direct playback using the supplied cables to a TV looks surprisingly good, and the videos are pretty decent even on a higher resolution PC monitor. I have been using the MP3 player. When you connect the camera to your computer, you'll find an MP3 folder. Just drag and drop your songs there and you're set. The speaker on the camera is pretty good, but it distorts a little if you have it on too loud. The included ear-buds are pretty good, although I'm sure it would sound much better with high-end Bose. You can't fast-forward or rewind a song, but how often do you really do that?
The voice recorder works as a voice recorder - not much to say here. To summarize, the SVP T100 is a good product, you just have to keep its price/features in perspective. It's ok at pictures, good at video, and has a few other neat 'convergence' features thrown in the mix. As a quick-and-dirty camera/camcorder, it's fine. But it cannot compare with dedicated devices. On the other hand, you'd need to spend 4 or 5 times the cost of the SVP T100 to get a collection of other devices to do the same work (camera, camcorder, mp3 player, voice recorder, etc).

(More customer reviews)I have several items covered by Square Trade extended warranties. The cost for 2-3 years of coverage beyond the manufacturer warranty, is modest especially compared against extended warranties offered by Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Fry's.
A digital camera I purchased in December 2008, started malfunctioning several weeks ago. This camera originally cost $139.99, which was a bargain at the time. The 3-year Square Trade Warranty cost $21.00.
Less than two weeks ago, I submitted a claim by telephone. The representative I spoke to was extremely helpful and considerate. I felt I was dealing with a totally ethical, professional company (such a contrast to Time-Warner!). Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!
They emailed me a prepaid UPS Shipping label to ship the defective camera back to them for examination, which I did, and several days later I received a follow-up email telling me that my claim for a full payout of my original purchase price, had been approved. I replaced the old camera, a Nikon Coolpix S510, with a brand new Nikon Coolpix S570. which is working beautifully.
You can bet that I immediately purchased a new Square Trade Warranty to cover the new camera.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this tripod because I needed a solid, general-use tripod, a friend suggested Sunpak and Slik tripods as good brands, and I'm on a student's budget.
I was wowed with this tripod from the moment I got it out of the box. It's attractive, it's much more solid than I expected from a couple pounds of aluminium and plastic, and it's a breeze to set up and play with. The various screws, cranks, and levers are easy to operate and it's simple to figure out which does what. I don't need the two quick-change plates, personally, but they're fun to play with and I'd imagine they'd be quite useful. Same goes for the retractable leg-spikes (I don't shoot outdoors much).
One caveat: it's not dead steady, just pretty darn steady. If you're going to be shooting a lot on uneven terrain, shakey ground, or high winds, well, what are you doing buying a cheap tripod? That camera's pricey! Alternatively, a bag of rocks hung from the base of the center pole can do wonders for stability.
All in all, an amazing tripod for such a low price.

For a lens under $30 (my price) it was more of an experimental purchase with little confidence that such a cheap piece of glass would compliment a $600 Hi Def camcorder. In a nutshell, if I scratched or damaged this lens to make it unusable I'd have another on order as soon as I got back online.
There are many generic accessory lenses out there to fit the Canon HV30 43mm threads. And many have proven to be worth the equivalent of a fishing sinker with multiple problems like lens barrel vignetting, halo'ing, fringing, fisheye, blurring at the edges, inability to create sharp focus, and about every other performance flaw you can imagine. Its the old adage "You get what you pay for." This BUCKS the rule~! This lens, identified by the brand name Digital Concepts and made by Sakar in China (although the lens barrel says JAPAN) is everything those others are not.
I have filmed (video mode) recent ice carving sculptures and can't tell the difference between the HV30 normal lens and the sharpness and color reproduction of this wide angle lens nor can "blind tests" with my friends viewing the footage tell the difference. Corner to corner, side to side, ZERO Vignetting in full wide angle and no fisheye'ing, and oh what a pleasure it is to have so much additional "real estate" in the frame. The fireworks display I shot that night was no different than the normal lens quality except I had a much wider field of view of the bursts. Clear, sharp, colorful imagery. Absolutely no distortion of any kind.
Ranging through the Wide Angle to full Telephoto settings provide accurate focus, sharpness and no imaging problems except at full telephoto where a soft focus look was apparent. Backing off just a tad on the zoom setting put the scene immediately back into crystal sharp focus. This really is not much if any problem because you are getting the lens for WIDE ANGLE usage and so to use telephoto/zoom with it is contrary to its best use.
Even with a 62mm UV filter and a flower pedal lens hood/shade on the end I had NO vignetting of any kind in VIDEO mode. Switching the HV30 to Camera Still Frame mode showed some minor concerns that were correctable. Because the still photos taken with the HV30 have a wider view than the Video framing, there was some vignetting of still frames in the corners when at full wide angle. BUT this ended up being due to the UV filter and lens hood added to the front of the lens. A slight zooming will eliminate this vignetting. But when the lens hood and UV filter ring were removed, the still frames taken, even in wide screen 1920 x 1080 were sharp, clear, and clean with no vignetting or sharpness problems. When wanting to take still frame 3.1 MP photos, you just need to remove the hood and UV filter and shoot to your heart's content. BTW, when the flash is not needed for exposure, the HV30 will shoot 3.1 megapixel stills in high speed continuous mode at 10 frames in about four or less seconds. Pretty cool for shooting fast action sports for great still captures.
I've shot traffic intersection scenes in video mode at 1/8th sec. shutter speeds in low light with this lens with remarkable effect of motion blur and sharpness of static non-moving images at the same time. In MACRO mode, with the outer barrel removed, it will at least double your effective close up framing with absolute clear, sharp focussing no different than the normal lens.
Sorry for the long winded review. But this particular lens has far exceeded any expectations and with PERFECT performance. As I said, I'd buy another in a second if anything happens to this one. And because this lens has a 0.45X wide angle view, it FAR EXCEEDS the 0.7X CANON WD-H43 wide angle view which is 5 TIMES the cost of this lens. If you want more real estate in your frame, this is the one to get. IF I get the time in the future I'll try to do a Video Review so you can see for yourself. Be FOREWARNED....the 2X Tele Extender lens by the same company is a piece of crap and I had to send mine back. It was as useful as viewing through the bottom of a coke bottle bottom on the HV30~!
