(More customer reviews)I have several items covered by Square Trade extended warranties. The cost for 2-3 years of coverage beyond the manufacturer warranty, is modest especially compared against extended warranties offered by Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Fry's.
A digital camera I purchased in December 2008, started malfunctioning several weeks ago. This camera originally cost $139.99, which was a bargain at the time. The 3-year Square Trade Warranty cost $21.00.
Less than two weeks ago, I submitted a claim by telephone. The representative I spoke to was extremely helpful and considerate. I felt I was dealing with a totally ethical, professional company (such a contrast to Time-Warner!). Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!
They emailed me a prepaid UPS Shipping label to ship the defective camera back to them for examination, which I did, and several days later I received a follow-up email telling me that my claim for a full payout of my original purchase price, had been approved. I replaced the old camera, a Nikon Coolpix S510, with a brand new Nikon Coolpix S570. which is working beautifully.
You can bet that I immediately purchased a new Square Trade Warranty to cover the new camera.
