(More customer reviews)I purchased this battery as a spare for my Nikon P5100. It is a great deal, but keep in mind that either the batteries for the P5100 aren't made to handle it, or the P5100 is a power hog. With this is mind, I was hoping for a battery that would at least last as long as the original and I haven't been disappointed. I recently went on a two month trip to rather cold temperatures, and both the original battery and this battery performed identically. Unfortunately, this meant that I needed two batteries to make it through a day of tourism, even if I turned off the flash in an effort to conserve the battery.
I do, however, recommend this battery as a good spare/replacement. Owners of a P5100 just need to bear in mind that the batteries, though adequate, will not last a day of heavy tourism. It also seems as though 20 degree F weather will really affect this battery, as the longevity was noticeably shorter than the normal warm weather where I live. Despite this, because it performs as well as the original, it is worth the money.

It is very compatible with Canon Reble XTI just as designed exclusively for the camera. It's easy to instal and use. I won't worry about the battery being used up during the trip with two packs of 2LH batteries in the grip and 6 AA batteries for back up (for emergency only). With the battery grip the camera looks more professional and solid especially with the L-lenses on the camera. The camera is heavier than without the grip to avoid motion when taking pictures. The vertical shutter button is very convenient to use. The best thing is that the price is only 1/4 of the Canon original counterpart. I strongly recommend it.

(More customer reviews)My Quantum Battery came with an older Metz CT4 flash. This was a great deal, because the entire package cost me about $150 on ebay. The great thing about this battery is that it holds its charge. My guess is 3-4 months after fully charging the unit. Yes it does take a little longer to recharge compared to regular rechargeable batteries, but once it is charged you can do an entire wedding without having to worry about it, or recharge. This a 9 volt battery so it is not suitable for some of the newer Digital cameras without a sync protector. It was made to be used with the older Metz flash systems CT5, CT4, CT1 etc. With a sync protector you can use both flash and Battery on any Digital camera. I decided to purchase the old handle-mount flashes, because of the extra power they provide, the broader light spread and the consistency, which to me, outshines TTL in many situations. I like this system so much that I went out and bought another CT4 and extra battery 2 so that I could do on location 2 light set ups. The cons are that the cable that attaches the flash to the battery is too short and I'm not sure if Metz sells any extensions.

Energizer Value NiMH Battery Charger with 4 AA Batteries Review

(More customer reviews)This is a good value: you get 2 rechargeable batteries AND a charger for about an Alexander Hamilton. Course, the batteries are 2000 mAh rather than 2500 or 2700, but picky, picky. You put in your batteries, next morning they are good to go. That's the good news.
The bad news: it is an old-fashioned, "dumb" charger of yesteryear. The charge times listed in the instructions are:
AA 1300-2000mAh = 8-12 hours
AA 2100-2500mAh = 13-16 hours
AAA 850-900mAh = 11-12 hours
Output:
AA 2.4v x 2 = 190mA
AAA 2.4v x 2 = 90mA
There are no colored or blinky LED's to tell you when your batteries are done. You just have to keep track of when the listed time is up. Also, you must charge 2 or 4 batteries; a problem, since I have some lights that use 1 or 3 batteries (D'Oh; you have come up with a creative solution so you have 2 or 4 to re-charge).
Judging by the times, however, I assume that this an old-time trickle charger. If so, it is OK if you forget to take your batteries the next morning; they will keep OK for a few days still in the charger. Also, NiCd's should be OK (I have not tried this yet; don't ask).
With the above reservations, I do recommend this charger. I should also say that it does both AA and AAA. There are molded plugs for both sizes in the case itself; no funky clips to move or break. I have used this for several different AA and AAA rechargeables of different mAh and manufacturers; I just leave them in overnight, and next day they are good to go. I have had no problems.

Canon PowerShot S300 2MP Digital ELPH Camera Kit w/ 3x Optical Zoom Review

(More customer reviews)This is my first digital camera. I've been impressed by the ease of use, the quality of the images, and variety of features. The only downside is that the 8 MB Compact Flash card which is included is insufficent; you will need to buy more memory, so budget accordingly.
I'm somewhat tech-savvy so the S300 presented no problems in terms of getting up and running. I was able to intuitively grasp how to use most features without reading the manual. Those wanting or need to read the manual will find it understandable and well-written.
There are several settings which determine the size and quality of the images. On the best settings (which is why you'll need more memory), the quality is excellent for on screen display. I've not printed any pictures yet, so I don't know about that. This is a 2.11 megapixel camera, so there are cameras out there with better image quality. That said, none are this small or ease to carry around.
The S300 camera has a variety of shooting modes: auto, manual, stitch assist, and movie. You can also set the white balance so that you're shooting in black-and-white. The auto mode takes good shots under most conditions. I've not played enough with the manual mode to comment on it. The stitch assist, which allows you to create panoramic shots, is amazing when used in conjunction with the included computer software (in my case on a Mac). It'll put everything together and you can even save as a QuickTime VR if you have the appropriate software. The movie mode shoots at 20 frames per second and includes audio. The image quality is acceptable, but the audio is weak.
The included Macintosh software (it comes with Windows versions as well) consists of an image database, an image editor, a video editor, a photo stitch assistant, and a camera remote control program. Excellent stuff, all.
You have two ways to get images into your computer: Via the included USB cable or by using an optional Compact Flash PCMIA adapter (cost: about $10). The USB cable, at least on the Mac, works great, though I suspect the download of lots of images from the camera would take a minute or two. I'm ordering a CF PCMIA adapter.
As I mentioned, the 8 MB Compact Flash memory really isn't enough. At best quality the camera holds 7 images before running out of space. With 128 MB (which is what I've ordered) it will hold 128 images. Movie times face similar constrains.
That aside, overall Canon has succeeded in delivering point-and-shoot ease-of-use to a digital camera. The S300 is small enough to take anywhere, and the result is that any moment becomes a photo opportunity. Users adept with Adobe Photoshop will find that a camera like the S300 allows any image at any time to become part of their digital world, and if that's not bound to enhance creativity, I don't know what will.

The PowerShot S300 is Canon's long-awaited follow-up to the wildly popular S100. Not content to rest on their laurels, Canon has spent the time to address some of the shortcomings in the original Digital Elph camera.
The biggest new feature is the 3x optical zoom. While only a small step up from the original 2x, the new zoom requires a slightly enlarged body. Also added is a movie mode. The new movie mode allows up to 30 seconds of footage to be recorded at a resolution of 160 x 120. You can also record at 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 resolution, but the recording time shortens correspondingly.
The diminutive 1.5-inch color LCD screen remains small. However, the control scheme is slightly modified to incorporate the camera's new capabilities--a wheel now controls the camera mode and has a power button in its center. The S300 includes several white-balance presets, exposure compensation of +/- 2 EV in 1/3 EV increments, and a black-and-white mode. Essentially, the S300 is a classy digital point-and-shoot with enough features and control for most hobbyists.

GE A730 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the GE A730 because it has by far the best feature set of any camera in its class at an unbelievable price. It's pocket-sized, with image stabilization, manual controls, a useful 35-140mm lens (35mm equivalent), a one-thirds grid on the LCD to help with composition and keep horizons straight, and on and on. It also has the best user manual I've ever seen. When I got it home, however, I immediately discovered its Achilles heel. I could not use the LCD in full sunlight, even at its brightest setting, and the A730 does not have an optical viewfinder. Also, the LCD is so reflective that the reflection of your own image blurs the screen even further, even in less than full sunlight. Besides that, I found that the automatic focus tended to hunt in almost all lighting conditions--though, in fairness, that could be just a flaw in the particular camera I bought, or "pilot error" due to my lack of experience, and not a general flaw in all A730s. I returned the camera for a refund and called GE Customer Service. I had called them once before with questions about the camera and they were savvy, polite, patient, and eager to please. When I told the person who answered about the problems I had with the A730, I could hear him typing it into his computer. He thanked me, said GE's R&D department wanted as much feedback as possible, whether good or bad, and said he was forwarding my remarks to them "as we speak." Except for the LCD (and perhaps the hunting AF) the A730 is a landmark point-and-shoot with superb features, at an unbeatable price, supported by excellent customer service. Despite my disappointing experience, I'm not giving up on GE cameras. Almost all new products have "bugs" in them that have to be worked out. The company seems more than willing to correct flaws, and if it does, there won't be a camera in the A730's class that can touch it. I'll watch with great interest to see if GE follows through on the feedback, and am looking forward to the release of their E850, which has a 28-140mm equivalent lens, a bit more resolution and all the other fine features of the A730. I hope GE makes the necessary corrections. They are just "this close" to producing a camera, backed by a customer support system, that all others will be measured by.

Battery, AA NiMH 4 pcs. 2700mAh Review

(More customer reviews)These Powerex AA rechargeables are the best I've tried.
I've tried several different brands of NiMH AA batteries (Delkin @ 2900 mAH, Power2000 @ 2500 mAH, La Crosse @ 2600 mAH, Duracell @ 2650 mAH, and DigiCam @ 1800 mAH). I use the La Crosse BC-900U charger on all of them so that I can see to what capacity they can be charged to, and even the La Crosse batteries that came with it can't be charged up to their own stated capacity. Duracell and Delkin both had a dud in each 4-pack of AA batteries. For all five manufacturers, the fully charged capacities of their AA batteries never exceeded about 80% of their stated capacities. None ever came close to a "full charge'. There was always at least one in each pack (excluding the dud in each pack) that would only charge up to about 50-60% of capacity, which would lead to a premature "Low Battery' shutdown of my camera.
The Powerex on the other hand, all charged to 95%+ of their rated 2700 mAH capacities and really last!.

(by digital standards) FD-97 Mavica. The "battery minutes left"
time readout starts at 208 min on a full charge play mode,
(178 min record mode,) and counts down so slowly (it's obviously not calibrated for this new tech battery) that I think 3 1/2
hours of playing time is not out of the question. The second
battery was almost superfluous, but I'm glad I bought it anyway.

(More customer reviews)I plugged my ipod 3g into this device (using an Apple USB adapter) using the wall adapter. the iPod said "device not supported." I left it plugged in overnight, and in the morning, the iPod seemed to recognize the charger. I still need to see if it works in the car, and with other devices. If so, it's a great low-cost solution to multiple chargers.
But, there is no support at Vivitar or on the packaging, so go with caution.

(More customer reviews)I own a Nikon FA and a Nikon FG. In each camera, you can either use two smaller cells (like the Sanyo MS76 or the Duracell MS76BPK, both silver-oxide) or this single, larger cell.
Silver-oxide cells outperform lithium cells, but buying just this one is (a) less expensive and (b) one less battery to lose.
Sanyo makes good batteries. For example, the SANYO Eneloop AA NiMH cells are amazing.

(More customer reviews)The four AA rechargeables alone are worth the price. The charger is primitive--no automatic shutoff, no on/off switch, no labeling telling you which slots to use if you are charging only two batteries--but it works.
It took me a few minutes to realize that there was a plastic film that needed to be removed from the contacts on the charger before it would work.

(More customer reviews)I just purchased the Bushnell Medalist range finder a week ago. I did this after researching most of the popular golf GPS products and the
golf range finders.
Specifically, the Bushnell Medalist range finder is a "WINNER". I
lowered my score right away. Not by hitting the ball better, but by avoiding the traps (I can measure where they are). I was aslo able to
pick the right club for the right distance.
I found the range finder to be very, very accurate. After a week
at my main course, and playing three other difficult golf courses,
I play with a new "Tiger" like confidence.
The summary follows:
Positive:
1) Accuracy
2) Small size ( you can mange with one hand, although you need two to
get a "steady" reading. The "Pinseeker" mode almost eliaintes this
issue though.
3) Cost (it is worth the value of $299)
4) Battery life (it has not blinked after a week of daily use) 9 volt
replaceable battery
5) Universal use (it works on ALL courses - no maps, PC, or SD memory
issues)
6) If you are in a scramble, guess who is the most popular player?
Negative:
1) The case is too flimsy. It loks good, but is not rugged enough.
Mine tore after 3 day. I bough a camera case for it that is much
more durable and is portable enght for both my portbale cart,a nd
a riding cart.
That's it. if you are on the limb about what to buy. Buy a range finder. You'll not regret it.

Compact in size but loaded with powerful rangefinding features, the Bushnell Medalist sets a new standard in a complete rangefinder package. Like its predecessor--the PinSeeker 1500--the Medalist is equipped with PinSeeker technology to combine pinpoint accuracy and consistency enabling you to range up to 250 yards (±1 yard) to the flag without the use of reflectors.
Designed exclusively with the bottom of the cup in mind, Bushnell's Pinseeker mode allows easy acquisition of the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the closer of the two objects is shown on the LCD screen.

Powered by a 9-volt battery, the lightweight Medalist boasts a 4x magnification and features a rubber armoring, making it easy to grip. It also comes with a premium carrying case. Weighing just 9 ounces, the Medalist measures 1.7 x 4.5 x 3.8 inches in size and is ready to be used right out-of-the-box, allowing it to be played at 100 percent of the courses around the world. How a Laser Rangefinder Works Bushnell's Yardage Pro rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 Laser beam (as classified by the FDA) which is "bounced" off distant objects with the press of a button. Then, the rangefinder's high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit. Next, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance within ±1 yard and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD Display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.
