After reading some of the negative product reviews here, I felt compelled to defend this product. To clarify: Yes, this point-and-shoot is susceptible to blocky images in higher ISO/low light. But that's pretty much the standard for budget entries in the $100-200 price range. For those who say Canon is superior: I took side-by-side comparison shots with my fiance's Powershot A590is, which, despite being older and two megapixels lower, is a similarly-featured camera at the same exact $150 price point.
The difference? If anything, the Kodak's picture quality was slightly superior at a forced 100 ISO in low light and it was a wash using auto-modes. The Kodak's video quality, while not truly up to par to a promised "720p HD quality," is far superior to what I've seen to other budget point-and-shoots, and with proper lighting is much better than your average, ultra-grainy Youtube-quality video from point-and-shoots.
The interface on the Kodak is much, much easier to use, much to my relief! I'm not a big fan of the Canon's menu navigation and buttons, whereas I'd compare the Kodak to the very easy to use budget Nikon Coolpix.
Is it the best 8-10 megapixel on the market? I can't claim enough expertise to pronounce anything definitive; I haven't tested every camera in this class. But considering the price, considering some of the competition at this price point, and considering that you have to have modest expectations for a point-and-shoot that's less than $300 these days, you're getting a lot for your money in a very sleek form factor. Video quality, Kodak service support, and being able to charge through USB are added bonuses. I'm perfectly happy with this camera, so I'm pleased to recommend it.

One of the more attractive and durable camera bags I've ever owned in the 40 years I've lugging them around. I bought the Tenba Black Label Small Satchel because it just meets the maximum size restriction for camera bags by museums in our area the allow photography, like the St. Louis Art Museum and the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City, MO. I've been able to cram into this small bag a Nikon D700 with a 24-85mm f/2.8-f/4.0 mounted, Nikon 180mm f2.8, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4 plus cable release, two spare batteries, Columbus GPS, flashlight, lens cleaning kit, pencils, filters and more. It will not hold a camera with a longer lens, like the 180mm, attached or a full sized pro camera, like the D3. After two years and many trips, the bag looks like new.

It's not so bad. It totally worth the 60 bucks and if you are a Mac user it's even better because it records in .MOV unlike most of the pricey name brand cameras.

The quality of the photographs generated by the Printer Dock 4000 are superb. The pictures are super. Figuring the costs associated with the Printer Dock, the user will find out each photo costs about $.63 using the dock. Several photo shops and even the common drug stores will produce outstanding photographs from your digital camera for just $.29 per photo. Some online photo services will also provide this service. My opinion is that the Printer Dock 4000 should not be purchased. It is not an economically sound decision, but the convenience is great.

I actually have a very nice flash for an older Nikon camera, but it wouldn't "talk" to my Kodak P850, so I purchased this flash. I have been very happy with the operation of the flash so far. It has more power than the camera's built-in flash, supports auotmatic zoom and power level. You also can change the settings manually. The only issue I have had with the flash is that it is lacking features. It works just fine as a simple flash, and works with the camera settings, but is missing some professional modes and features like a remote flash function. However, it does the job well for the price, and will work with your Kodak camera.

I purchased this daypack to carry my Canon 5D Digital SLR, flash or a spare lens, and a few filters while I'm hiking around National Parks etc.. This daypack exceeded my expectations for functionality, style and comfort. The bottom portion offers great protection for my camera gear, with reinforced padding that can be removed and moved to accommodate my gear. Unfortunately I couldn't fit my 70-200mm lens here, but it did fit in the top portion of the backpack. The top part was great for those extras like purse, car keys, sunglasses etc. There are a good selection of little pockets inside to separate your flashcards, batteries, lens cloth, or whatever. On one hike it rained on me, but everything in the backpack stayed completely dry! I didn't have to use the waterproof cover that came with it. From a comfort level, it was awesome! I can wear it all day and not notice it at all. Padding in all the right places, and good separation from my back to allow airflow. The only fault I found is that the first time I used it, the fabric toggles that are attached to the zippers came off, and the design won't allow me to put them back on. The zippers are a good size though, so I haven't missed them.

Kodak EasyShare Z980 12MP Digital Camera with 24x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0 inch LCD Review

I recently received my Z980. I am a professional, but was looking for a quick-cam as a backup. This unit takes excellent pictures in all modes. I like the RAW format, as it edits easily on my computer. The camera is very light, so tripod mounting is a must for any telephoto use. In lower ISO ranges, noise is minimal. In high ISO, photos are still quite useable!
The only drawback is the memory card/battery door. It is really a pain to close. I don't know how well it will wear, therefore the 4-star rating rather than 5-star. Filters would be another nice option! (What about it Kodak?)
I bought this through Amazon and it was shipped by Adorama. Shipping and packaging was excellent. If you want an excellent DSLR substitute, this would be a good choice. The only caveat is READ THE MANUAL. This is a complex camera, and you must read the manual to get the full use from it.
**** Update 12/24/2009 ****
After 8 months of using this camera, I find it to be quite versatile, and find myself using it for all but extreme telephoto shots (you just can't beat a EOS 40D with 1200mm tele on a solid tripod). The battery door issue I mentioned earlier has proven to be not an issue at all. Low light photos are excellent, but only in manual mode and using an external light meter (or trusting many years of experience using E400 film in low light).
I recommend this camera for anyone getting into more advanced digital photography. For pros, give it a try. Depending on the type of photos you take on the job, you may find this quite useable. For nature photographers, like myself, its a whole lot lighter to carry in the field! Get a good, lightweight tripod, and you are set.

Bought this one for my 12yo niece. I try every piece of electronic equipment before I give it. I was surprised. It took me only 2-3 minutes to get familiar with the camera's operation out of the box (no instruction reading). I found it's set-up to be very intuitive without the massive confusing menu system of - oh - lets say the CANNON POWERSHOT A560.
Set up the camera mode on a dial switch.
turn flash on/off/auto at a single button.
point-click-picture. And nice ones too.
small problem - the picture stabilization mode only seems to work when the flash is used. When the flash is on, you can violently shake this camera all over the place and it will capture the crispest image when it goes off, even your shoes or ceiling if you're shaking it that violently.
Using a 4GB sandisk sdhc card, on maximum 10mp, the camera says it will hold just under 2000 pictures on the counter. On minimum 1.2mp setting, the counter stops at 9999. Yes, nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine. The numbers don't add up to me for MP size and # of photos, but if upscaling is used ( as I've read from others) , then these picture quantities do start to make sense.
Between the Cannon power shot and another hard to use upscale Sony camera, both my mother and sister wanted this one for ease of use. What they actually want.
My neice looooooooooooves this camera.
Takes about 45min of video too.
If you want wall sized pictures - this is not for you.
Full page picture - It can handle pretty well.
4x6 memories - I don't think anyone can go wrong.

I got this bag a few months back. It turned out to have a few wrinkles on the lid, and when I brought it to the attention of Tenba, their response was amazing to the extent that the product manager called to find out exactly what was wrong, how I was using the bag, and so on. Compared to the hours on hold that is commonplace, this was a refreshing change. Needless to say, they shipped me out a replacement even before I returned the defective piece.
With that positive experience about their service, I got to setting up the bag.
The bag can be set up with four compartments in a row with the dividers provided. the first one from the left houses a medium zoom (Or, in my case, a 100mm F:2 macro), then the camera with a walkabout lens attached (I have the Tamron 17-250) inserted lens-down with the shoulder resting on a divider, the third compartment can hold another lens. You can put a 10-20mm Sigma in there if you want, but I use it to dump in my filters, spare battery, CF cards and cleaning supplies. The fourth compartment which is 2/3 the size of the others, holds my flash.
The rear zipped section carries the camera manual (which I will read one of these days when stranded on a desert island), and the front zipped section I keep empty, to retain the slim profile. Its actually intended for batteries, memory cards and such.
There is plenty of room in the main compartment for all of the above. Getting things in and out is clean, without futzing with flaps and dividers. The grippy bag handles work well, as does the shoulder strap. You can take this bag to an elegant event, a graduation ceremony or an informal get-together confident that you will not be under-dressed or stand out as a camera nut. You can carry it on a hike, the bag is built to take that treatment, but it will look out of place. Perhaps if they did one in Khaki...
What this bag is not:
This bag is not meant to carry your entire kit and kaboodle. For that, there are other, bigger options, none of which come with a free chiropractor!
Over the years, I have found that I do just fine with a flexible zoom for most opportunities, and sticking with one or two lenses gives me the opportunity to understand and use their abilities better. If there is time, like when a flower emerges from the snow, I attach my macro.
Over a period of time I have got my share of bags - a few Domkes, couple of Tamracs, and a miscellany of others. For all but outdoor hikes, I now stick to this one.

I have had probably ten different digital cameras over the last ten years, mostly Kodak, although the most recent ones were Canon. I was spoiled with the 12x optical zoom on my Kodak Z1012 and the clear, sharp images it produced. I don't want to carry it in my purse every day though! I recently purchased a Canon SX110, which is small enough to carry daily and takes great photos; however, it doesn't allow for a date stamp except at 1600x1200 resolution. After researching for several days online, I purchased a Kodak Z915 today. Took it straight to the park and played with it. Got some fantastic photos today. I mean, I was surprisingly truly impressed by the clear, sharp images I got today for a relatively inexpensive camera. I love the 10x zoom -- can't even imagine owning a camera with less after having that feature for a couple of years now. This one does all that I need and does it well. The movie mode seemed to have tiny shifts in focus while recording, but I don't use the video features on my cameras too often, so not a concern for me. I may play with it some more and see if some tweaking of settings will allow for a smoother playback. Again, can't say enough how happy I am with the image quality and that's my main requirement.

I have had my Z981 for two weeks and I have given it a thorough testing. My son is a professional photographer and he told me that I would be disappointed with this camera. I told him that I would give it a real-world test and, if I was disappointed, I would send it back.
First the cons: 1) The On/Off toggle switch is awkwardly placed. It is almost impossible to turn the camera on (or off) without moving (changing) the Mode dial. 2) The battery compartment is easy to open but very difficult to close and lock (I use my car key to slide it). Also, make sure the camera works once you have locked it. For some reason, this seems to be a problem. 3) A hotshoe and tilting view screen would have been nice but I knew from the specs that I would get neither. 4) The zoom on the back of the camera (rather than on the top) is awkward but I will get use to it. 5) I would have gladly paid an extra $50 to have the camera built out of heavy duty plastic.
Now the pros: 1) The photo quality is first rate. 2) The zoom is smooth but, keep in mind that in high power, you really need to steady the camera (I use a monopod). 3) The video automatically includes sound (not so with all cameras). 4) The video is very high quality (1280x720) and the optical zoom works in video mode. When playing this video, it fills my entire computer monitor - not just a little window in the middle of the monitor. 5) It uses SD cards. This doesn't sound like much but these are much cheaper than the proprietary cards that some cameras use. 6) It uses AA batteries. Since I travel a lot in the Amazon, built-in (or proprietary) rechargeable batteries are not an option for me. 7) I love having a separate button for all of the different functions. Most cameras have a Function button that you push and then get totally lost in the maze of options, sub-options and sub-sub-options. 8) The price is great. I have never paid less that $600 for a digital camera.
Bottom line: Great pictures, great high resolution video, 14mp and 26x zoom. It has some quirks but is a great camera at a great price.
