Nice little item to have in my bag. My lenses are 52mm for my Nikon D40, but got some filters from my Minolta 35mm film and they're 55mm. The ring goes on and off pretty smoothly. Been using it for a couple months now and no issues.

I am using it on Nikon D3000 18-55mm VR Kit lens. I had tried the Marumi DHG Circular Polarizer CPL earlier and had found some unwanted ghosting/ flare effect. So, I got this "Super" multicoated version instead. It works as advertised and I am very happy with the results, especially the blue sky effect and improved color saturation plus no visible ghosting/ flaring because of multicoating. In depth technical comparisons on "Lenstip dot com" also ranks it overall number one. You can't find a better product for this price point. I see some barrel distortion at 90 degrees (max polarization) compared to 0 degrees (no polarization). I am not sure if this is common among all CPL filters.

This kit is all I wanted for. The camera works great and fits all my standards but the whole kit is very useful. I hate when I have to buy a case for separate or even the memory card so it made it very convenient. The only stupid thing was the 25 free pictures which would only work if you live in Brooklyn because the shipping to Boston is more than the pictures itself.

Dont buy this bundle. All the accessories that are mentioned are of very poor quality. The memory card gave up in less than 2hrs of usage. The so called tripod can barely stand by itself, forget supporting a camera on top of it.
The camera is really good, but dont waste the extra money on this bundle for the cheap accessories, instead buy some good ones separately.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28K 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28K 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using a Panasonic TZ1 for a little over two years. That's a nice 10x zoom pocket camera. But its ISO is a bit low for indoor use. The shutter lag of TZ1 also cannot keep up with my growing two-year-old twins. They move too fast for the camera to chase.
My main use for the new camera is to record my kids life. From time to time, I extend my artistic interest to scenes, buildings, animals, insects, flowers...
I've had this camera for a week and took over 1000 photos. It's simply fantastic.
Things I like:
1. The shutter response is much much better than my old camera. In most cases, it will focus quickly and accurately. I use iA mode occasionally. Most time, I set it at program mode with Fn(Function)button programmed to select different focus mode. Contrary to one of the reviewers, I feel it's very responsive. And Face Recognition really works on this Camera.
2. The lens is great. You can capture incredible photos far and near.
3. Wonderful IQ! I constantly mess around with different shooting modes and do comparison shot. I have to say that the iA(intelligent auto) mode in many cases is doing a better job in focusing, exposure, white balance, etc than I do(Hard to admit a machine is smart than I am. :-D). I'm still trying and learning. But I feel eventually I might give up and let the iA totally controls me.
4. The menu system is well-written. I'm only half-way through the manual(Probably I'll never finish the other half). But there's not a function I hesitate to use or feel frustrated when maneuvering through the menu system.
5. The lay-out of the buttons is well thought-out. I especially like the dedicated record/playback button. Why no one else thought about it. So convenient! Love it.
6. LCD. This is perhaps the brightest LCD I ever had. Everything is nicely detailed.
Things I think the next gen Panasonic FZ should improve:
1. ISO. I have very usable photos which are shot at ISO 400. But there are several times I hope the ISO will be even higher for low-light conditions.
2. Ghost-band(Purple/blue vertical lines) on LCD in strong direct light condition. This happens to many digital camera system. But I feel it shows a bit more on this camera.
I frequent dpreview. A few people there(Plenty never set their fingers on the camera) complain about the small EVF of this camera. I primarily use LCD for taking pictures. So I don't really care about EVF. But to be fair and objective, I tried EVF with about 100 photos. It's clear, bright and nice.
Conclusion: It's a fantastic super-zoom camera which can take incredible photos. A nice step-up from simple P&S. What are you waiting for? (Panasonic didn't pay me to say the last line)
Update 09/30/2008: I've been using this camera for about one month. Literally thousands photos taken. Again and again I'm impressed by this camera. This is truly a versatile camera. It takes excellent photos under a broad range conditions. It's hard to go wrong with this camera.
Update 12/27/2008: It's been four months since I got the camera. The more I use it, the more I appreciate its functionality, features and build quality. Best buy ever.
Update 04/14/2009: I found out that my computer/camera illiterate wife uses this camera much more than I do. (Of course, she spends more time with the twins too. )She was intimated by all the buttons at the time when I bought it. Now she just leaves the setting at AI and doesn't bother to mess with anything else. Photos almost always turn out to be perfect. Nothing says more of the camera than this. Great job Panasonic!!!

This bag is a perfect fit for my Canon Powershot S5 IS. If you have anything larger it probably will not fit in this case. The case has some padding along the inside which would help if you dropped it, but I wouldn't trust it to save your camera from a fall from more than just a few feet. There is a small compartment on the inside of the top flap which is perfect for holding and protecting memory cards. The outside compartment is kind of small, I can barely fit about 8 AA batteries and my camera's USB cable in there, so if you have a lot of accessories look for a larger bag. Overall, if you don't have a lot of equipment this bag is great, especially for the price.

I bought this for mainly for the wide angle lenses, but the accessories give it a lot of value for the buck. The flimsy, lightweight tripod is compact & great for traveling.
The lenses are also close up lenses: just screw off the front.
Disadvantages:
The adapter screws into the bottom of the camera, but my camera is a little too small, so they provide an extension for between the camera and the mount. This complicates lining up the lenses, and makes it bulkier.
Lens alignment is a problem, because if it is slightly off center, the image will be cropped by the adapter.
You get what you pay for, but with a little care & patience, these do a good job.

The main function of the lens hood is to shade the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality. But it will also protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles and in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens. The advantage of the petal shape design is, that it offers the same prevention of flare as the corresponding circular or rectangular design, but with a smaller size and a lighter weight. Installation: *Rotate lock-ring to expose the thread's mounting thread*Attach the hood by screwing it on the filter or lens thread.*Rotate lock-ring back to fix the hood on the thread.*While fixating the hood with the lock-ring, keep the " " symbol on the hood exactly at 12 o'clock position for the correct perpendicular orientation of the higher sides of the hood.

58mm Lens Hood for Fujifilm Finepix HS10 Review

58mm Lens Hood for Fujifilm Finepix HS10
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this "Tulip" shaped lens hood for my Canon S5, which uses 58mm filters on its lens adapter. Although this hood is advertised to fit the Fujifilm HS10, it will also fit ANY camera with 58mm filter threads or a 58mm filter adapter IF (and ONLY if) the filter threads do not rotate while focusing. If the hood rotates, it might become visble in your photos.
The hood WILL cast a shadow on your flash photos, so rotate the hood so that a small petal is at 12 o'clock or remove it for flash photos.
I have a Sakar Digital Concepts 58mm lens adapter on my Canon S5. I threaded my 58mm UV filter to the back of the lens hood. Then I threaded the filter to my Sakar lens adapter. After the filter is threaded snugly, you can calibrate the precise position of the hood. The hood has a white triangle for alignment. Rotate the hood until the white triangle is pointing straight up at the 12 o'clock position. Then rotate the locking wheel on the hood to lock it into place. This takes a couple of minutes. I intend to leave the hood on my camera permanently. Taking it off and putting it on is time consuming.
After the hood was adjusted, I tested it by taking photos of the sky with the lens zoomed to its widest position. The hood was not visible in the corner of the photos, nor was there any darkening of the corners of photos. This hood is a PERFECT match for the Canon S5 with the Sakar Digital Concepts adapter. It is likely to work well with lenses that zoom out to about 35mm. If your lens zooms to a wider 28mm, it is possible you might see a bit of the hood in the corners of photos...the wider the lens, the more likely the hood may be visible.
Also, my 58mm lens cap clamped securely into the "throat" of the hood so you can use your cap with the hood on.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500 10MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom Review

Fujifilm FinePix S1500 10MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, I did not buy mine from Amazon, instead electing to get it instantly at Wal-Mart.
I am also far from a camera expert.
With that said, I was quite pleased with this camera, which was a huge upgrade over my old Kodak DC340.
First, I REALLY like the generous 12x zoom with this camera, which enabled me to get excellent quality photos with good detail of two particular wary birds, a Bob White quail, and an Eastern Bluebird.
I also found the imagine stabilization feature useful for my less than completely still hands, and I need to reiterate that image stabilization has NOTHING to do with capturing a fast moving object, as Spacejockey seemed to believe.
Also, far from being annoyed by the flash having a button to pop it up, I really like being able to manually disable flash by leaving the flash physically latched down instead of having to mess around with menu controls to do it.
I fail to see how this is a negative, Spacejockey.
Likewise, I quite liked the intelligent face detection feature, which seemed to be particularly useful for the excellent automatic red eye removal feature.
Again, Spacejockey, why the grumbling about this feature?
Another point of contention is the gripe about the "double clicking" when taking photos.
Well, you can override that by pressing the shutter button completely without pause, but the first click is to allow you ensure your lens is fully focused on your target before committing to taking the shot.
You can press halfway, see if the focus indicator is on your target, then squeeze the rest of the way to take the shot.
Again, why the complaint about that?
Regarding the yellowish cast to photos taken indoors without flash, that is easily overcome by using the basic manual controls, which allow you to set the exposure appropriate to the lighting, which includes the "Tungsten" setting that is indicated for use indoors under incandescent lighting.
Problem solved, and I have to wonder why Spacejockey couldn't trouble himself to look into that before grumbling about that.
One point where I must agree with Spacejockey is the idiotic choice of micro USB connector instead of the far more common and useful mini USB connector used on most other portable electronic devices.
It's not as if this large camera had a space constraint to require that.
Was Fuji simply out to make its customers carry an extra cable instead of the mini-USB they already have for their other devices?
One related complaint of my own, since I find myself instead electing to pop out the SD card to insert into an external card reader, is that it was a poor choice indeed to put the SD card slot inside the battery compartment, thus requiring the camera be powered off and having a fragile battery door undergo a finite open/close cycle that will accelerate it breaking and reducing the camera to an expense block of plastic.
Also, Spacejockey, macro mode should NEVER use zoom.
You want more detail for a close object, I suggest you GET CLOSER.
Sheesh!
Again, I have to disagree about the menu system, which I found easy to figure out, without really having to resort to the manual.
I also really like how large the LCD display is.
I tend to agree with the complaint about the lack of a printed manual, but this is a sad trend among electronic manufacturers these days.
Witness the utter lack of printed documentation AT ALL when you open up that stylish box your iPod comes in.
Regarding the inability to read the documenation found on the CD, I would suggest you contact Fuji to let them know that your disk was scratched and unreadable on a number of different computersm, and request they send you a free undamaged CD.
Regarding the panorama mode, I would not even consider using that in the field, unless I had a tripod and carefully positioned each shot to make the overlap as seamless as possible.
Failing that, I would do it up right on my computer with an image editor, so I have to wonder again at what seems a gratuitous gripe about a feature that Spacejockey probably never intended to use anyway.
Speaking of gripes, why the grumbling about lack of filters or lens accessories on a camera that is NOT an SLR?
This is a mid to high end point-and-shoot camera, and a motorized lens that moves in and out can get easily damaged by a filter or other such appliance attached to it.
Spacejockey, have you really thought that complaint through?
Sorry to sound as if I have some kind of axe to grind with Spacejockey, but I am a firm believer that a critical review really should focus upon being both fair and factual, and too many of the gripes leveled at this low to mid range camera seemed really lacking in both departments.
Anyone who has used the pocket sized point-and-shoot cameras, such as my old Kodak, will immediately see the improvement of this camera over those, but anyone wanting all the features demanded by Spacejockey would be better served with one of the better digital SLR cameras instead.
However, those SLR cameras are also targeted more at the experienced photographer, thus requiring far more manual control over the camera.
Again, there is nothing wrong with a critical review, but I have to be critical of SJ's review itself.
Nothing personal.

GE X5 Power Pro Series 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 15X Optical Zoom Review

GE X5 Power Pro Series 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 15X Optical Zoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me begin my saying that I have not purchased a new camera in six years, so I was waaaayyyy behind in technology (I had never purchased an SD card until now, etc.). I had read so much about the user manual to this camera being hard to read, the camera functions being hard to access and use, etc., but, I must say, I found this camera easy to use and the functions were well-explained and documented in the user manual (for Pete's sake, they show the pics and give step-by-step instructions in the manual :-)).
I ordered this camera from Amazon last Friday; it arrived today. We are using it to take on a cruise with us and I wanted something with a decent zoom to be able to take pictures at somewhat of a distance. I also needed to practice using it, so I took it out of the box right away. I looked at the user manual and went to work :-D. I also used the user manual on the enclosed CD. No problem!
Like another poster said, I, too, researched this camera a lot before buying it and I, too, found it comparable to a couple of the Fuji Finepix that I was looking at. I am in no way an expert on cameras (I don't know much about them at all), but, I did go try this one out at Sears prior to purchasing this one from Amazon (Amazon was cheaper). While there, I noticed that they also had the Fuji I was thinking about getting, too, and I tried it. I really do like the way the GE X5 feels in my hands better than the Fuji! And, with my not needing the camera for professional purposes, I just wanted to be able to take decent pics. And, the GE camera seems to be able to do that!
I am soooo excited about this camera. The pics are so clear and sharp! I am having to learn how to focus it, etc., but, so far I have gotten some good clear shots.
I wanted to address some common comments that I have seen about this camera, both on Amazon and other other sites that sell this camera:
1. Using Manual to Get Clearer Pics of People Up Close - Previous reviewers were saying that their pics of people up close were blurry. Other reviewers suggested to take the pics in Manual as opposed to Automatic. I don't necessarily agree with this. In fact, with my not knowing what I was doing :-), I took blurry pics in both Manual and Auto, but I took more blurry pics in Manual. What did, in fact, help me to not blur the pictures was to follow the instructions in clicking the button to take the pics. If you read the manual, it tells you to push the button half-way down to focus the pic. Once you do, you will hear a tone (unless you disable the sound feature, I guess). Once you hear the tone, press the button the rest of the way down until you hear a shutter click sound, which lets you know that the pic has been taken. Pressing it all the way down too soon caused my pics to be blurry.
2. Picture Quality is Poor - People have said that the pic quality is poor. I do not agree with that. But, what I did see (and, again, I have lived in the dark ages regarding technology for so long until it might be this way with many digital cameras that I don't know about), though, is that the pic as it appears on the LCD screen is VERY GRAINY. This is true when the pic is being taken. However, if you go back and review the pics, you will see that they are not grainy (if taken correctly).
3. This Camera is Not for Beginners/It is an Advanced Beginner Camera - As I stated earlier, I don't agree with that. Now, let me say that there are features that I do not know how to use on this camera and may never know how to use because I may never have a need to use them. But, you don't have to use the "advanced" features in order to be able to use this camera. I'm a living witness :-D.
I am glad that I purchased this camera on Amazon, even though it went up $10 in my cart on literally the day I had it in the basket :-). Overall (so far), I am quite pleased with this camera.
Oh, one more thing: At the time of my writing this, if you look at the What's in the Box? section, you will see that it lists 4 AA alkaline batteries are included with this camera. But, if you look at the Product Description portion, you will see that it lists 4 rechargeable AA batteries. I received the alkalines. The alkalines are doing well so far, but I will buy some rechargeables to take on the cruise with me. I have reported this discrepancy on the page to Amazon customer service and they may be fixing it soon.
UPDATE ON DECEMBER 17, 2010:I wrote a very positive review of this camera, but I am now seeing many negative reviews. When I bought my camera, it was sold and shipped directly from Amazon. Now I see that it is coming directly from Capital. I don't know if there would be a difference in the camera or not; shouldn't be. My camera did not ship from Capital and I have had no problems with it. I am adding this to my review because I don't want people to think that I am endorsing a camera that may not be of good quality.

This does what it is supposed to do. Works for connecting a Nikon TC lens to a Nikon Coolpix camera. Good manufacturing and fit and finish as would be expected from Nikon.

Lowepro Apex 110 AW (Black) Review

I really like this pack, using it for my Canon SX10IS currently. It has lots of room (although if you have a longer lense or big flash they probably wont fit) for both the camera and accessories. Along with the camera I can fit 2-3 packs of AA batteries, several memory cards, an SD card reader, the Nikon Lens Pen cleaning system, and a few other small items.
It's very durable, and the cushy shoulder strap makes it good for longer excursions. I feel very comfortable that my camera is secure and safe inside it (lots of padding). The all-weather cover is also a really nice feature, although you have to detach the shoulder strap in order to put it on, which can be pretty annoying. Also note that you wont be able to access anything in the bag once the weather cover is on.
The little micro-fiber lens cloth inside is also a nice feature to have, as well as the various pockets.
The way it zips up can make it a bit awkward to use at times (especially if you are trying to do it one-handed).
My only other complaint is that the form-factor (essentially a box) can make it kind of awkward and cumbersome as compared to other packs. It sticks out a lot from your body and can feel a bit bulky and uncomfortable since it doesn't always contour very well to your back or side. It's a bit like having a lunch box strapped to you. The padding on it makes this not too much of a problem though and I wouldn't call it a deal breaker. Note that the meshed surface on the back of the bag will mess up some shirts by rubbing against them and causing lots of "pills."

....Versatility never comes without cost:
GENERAL
+ First impression when mounted to my t2i was "wow". I could hardly believe how small this thing really is considering it's zoom range! It's also very light (only a tiny little bit heavier than a Tamron 17-50 2.8!)
You can carry it around easily and my t2i felt very well balanced with it. - A good start
+ the lens comes with a lens hood (you see Canon!?) and with a 5 years warranty. That's quite a package, even though the lens hood (being suitable for all offered focal lengths) cannot really help when you are zoomed in to the max.
BUILT QUALITY
+- the lens is manufactured in China. Quality appearance is ok, but nothing to rave aboutIMAGE QUALITY
Resolution
+- considering it's enormous range, I was surprised how sharp this lens can get. Resolution is not the reason why I finally opted against the product. It never really gets razor sharp, but at least at most focal lengths it will get the job done. As long as you don't plan to print really big, contemplate your pictures at 100% view on a monitor, or plan to crop details, things will look quite all right (i will upload a few samples, to show you). There are only a few focal lengths at which it delivers really poor resolution unless stopped down at least two f-stops. Unfortunately two rather important settings are among these problematic ones. At the end of the zoom range (250-270 mm f 6.3) and at it's beginning (18 mm f 3.5) pictures can look plainly soft. Especially at the long end, this can be very disturbing as you need a whole lot of light anyway when shooting at 270mm. At f8 things look better, but you won't blur your background that easily and of course you will need quite bright light to get these shots free of shake.
Speed
- As I just said, the lens isn't what you would call fast at any rate. Moreover you need to stop it down to gain decent IQ at some settings and last but not least, it's higher minimum apertures kick in rather early (e.g. at a "portrait length" of 100mm it is already 5.6!) - a major draw-back for a so called "all purpose lens". I wouldn't recommend it to anybody who plans to shoot a lot in low light.
Vignetting
+- Vignetting is visible but I've seen worse (especially if you (again) take into account the long range). It also can be corrected quite easily.
Chromatic aberrations
- Purple fringing can be a problem at almost all focal lengths. Stopping down helps but it does not reduce CAs to zero.
Contrast
- Contrast in general is not the strong point of this lens. between 24 and - say - 200mm it is alright when stopped down a little. In general I had more work to fine tune contrast than usual.

Colors
+- Due to the somewhat weak contrast colors aren't too snappy and sometimes I felt, I could see some kind of yellowish cast. In general, however, colors looked good to me.
Flares/Ghosting
+ I had no problems with flares
IMAGE STABILIZER
+ The IS-System of the lens works quite fine and without too much noise (only a faint zzzzzzzzz). I wouldn't expect it to give you more than two to two an a half f-stops.
When using your camera on a tripod you should definitely switch it off, as it visibly degrades IQ when used with a tripod
AUTOFOCUS
+- The new piezo drive was one of the reasons for me to give this lens a try (I don't like the focussing speed of my Canon 55-250 IS, which is both slow and noisy).
The Tamron 18-270 PZD focus is almost inaudible and in general quite precise. Focussing speed however is not impressive. I believe there are many micro-motor AF-systems out there that do the job quicker.
This system here is by no means comparable to Canon's USM...too bad
VERSATILITY
+++ Nothing to complain about here. Within a twist of a zoom-ring you can take almost every picture stye from landscape via Portrait to wild-life close-ups (if the beasts don't move too quick). The capabilities of this lens in this respect are nothing short of amazing. The one thing it doesn't do too well is macro.
CONCLUSION
If you are the kind of photographer that shoots mainly in bright light,
if you usually watch your photos on smaller screens or prints,
if you're not a "pixel-peeper"
if you do not like carrying lenses around or just don't want to switch them
if you're looking for a light all-round travel lens
if you are more than anything a spontaneous photographer
the Tamron 18-270 3.5-6-3 pzd is made just for you.
However
if you are seeking the "perfect picture"
if you like snappy colors and contrasts
if you are a "sharpness-victim"
if you like to print big or crop your images to point out details
if you're searching for high end built quality
You will have to look elsewhere and make your compromises on versatility instead of image quality.
Now please. don't take my 3-star-rating too negatively. I don't mean to bash this product, but to give you an impression of my experiences as objectively as possible.
The TAMRON 18-270 offers a great solution for people that appreciate versatility more than anything else.
As a super-zoom it is definitely worth a try. However imho too many compromises have to be made to buy this flexibility. And since you don't buy it for peanuts, I can't give it my recommendations without reservations.
Good luck with your decision

I have never been happier with a camera. The quality of picture and zoom are above my expectation. The seller sent out the camera the next day, and I received it within two days. I would recomment this camera to anyone looking to upgrade a more standard digital camera.
