I purchased this bag after trying out a Lowepro Flipside 200 which was nice and I enjoyed the security aspect but it could not fit much, nor could it handle my netbook. I have a small Samsung NC10 which I wanted to carry with me on a recent trip and this was just the bag. It allows me to store my camera gear in the lower portion and tuck away the netbook or laptop in the back which rests against your back. The upper storage area above the camera gear is also quite nice which gives you an area for misc. items, cell phone, pens, etc. If I had to pick a Con for the bag it would be the fact that its a little difficult to push the bottom padded area that stores the camera back into the bag once filled. Not a biggie because if you are carrying this bag you understand that you will not be able to easily change lenses with the bag attached to only one arm like the Lowepro Fastpack, etc. Most of the time once I remove my camera I usually carry it around my kneck and just need a secure place to keep my lenses, etc. This bag looks great and it's a perfect size, not too bulky and looks very inconspicuos when traveling, which is a bonus. It also comes with a rain pouch that you can easily cover the entire bag during those pop up showers.
This is the medium size bag of the DR series. The DR-465 does not have a laptop storage area, and the DR-467 is the big brother of the 466 which allows for a larger laptop and a bit bulkier.
I would not hesitate to recommend this product to a friend. Also Amazon has a good price on this which appears to be the going rate amongst other e-tailers.

Kata KT DT-213 Digital Torso-Pack Review

Kata KT DT-213 Digital Torso-Pack

After doing some rough traveling with an unsuitable camera bag (the bag itself is very good; the use I gave it was wrong), I decided to look for something more adequate for those times when I am hiking with my camera, need to get in and out of cramped places, etc. I didn't want a regular camera backpack because of the weight and size issue, and also because I knew that I'd end up with it slung crooked on one shoulder so that I could easily reach the camera -- which is no good for a back that is not 100% on its better days.
The sling pack, aka torso pack, seemed like the ideal solution because it is MADE to be carried on one shoulder. In the Kata DT-213's case, specifically on the left shoulder (more on this later). Turned towards the front, it sits exactly where I need it to, so that I can reach in and grab my camera at a moment's notice. On my back, it is a comfortable little backpack that I hardly remember is there. The shoulder strap's length can be adjusted, so it doesn't matter if you have a longer or shorter torso. It is well padded and comfortable. Also, if I want, an adjustable and removable waist strap keeps the sling pack in place on me when I'm moving around.
Its zipper opens and closes quickly and with no effort, as it is a double one on either side of the flap, linked by a sturdy nylon cord. On the extremity there is a velcro tongue and also a plastic snap (which in my case is rarely closed), keeping the equipment safe and snug. The main compartment is surprisingly spacious. The larger division accomodates my Olympus E-30 + mounted 50-200 mm SWD f/2.8-3.5 perfectly. The two smaller divisions take the 11-22 mm lens, the EC 2.0 teleconverter and my flash. The two padded dividers can be moved or removed to resize the compartment and/or the divisions.
There are three outside zippered pockets. The roomier one will carry several memory cards and spare batteries. Another in the back lies flatter, so is only good for money, passport, etc. And a third pocket on the shoulder strap takes a cell phone, recorder or MP3 player. On its surface is a metal ring to which I can hook on my water bottle or geotagging GPS. The whole interior is bright yellow. This is something I love about Kata bags, because they never turn into black holes: you can always see in there and find what you're looking for.
As is standard, build quality and materials are first rate, and attention to detail is total, up to the rain cover. The whole bag is padded and I really feel my equipment is safe in it. I think I have found the perfect bag for day photo trips, finally.
The left shoulder issue: When I took the DT-213 out of its packaging, I thought, "Uh oh". I am left-handed and thought that carrying the bag on my left shoulder would make it awkward to remove the camera quickly. I do have to open the zipper with my right hand, but taking the camera out works equally well with either hand. Another detail, and this one for women only: no problem at all between the shoulder strap and my chest.
Sept. 2010. This bag has been everywhere and back and has proven itself sturdy, comfortable and practical. I've taken it on zodiacs and small boats and despite not ever putting the rain cover on, my equipment never got wet. It was also handled quite roughly a few times, and it has resisted very well. More importantly, it has protected my equipment perfectly. The 5* rating holds true.

Just like a gunslinger uses a well designed quick draw holster, the Kata Torso pack is the quick draw, point and shoot holster for any camera-slinger.
Plenty of room for my 70 - 105 lens, 200mm lens, 35 - 70 wide angle lens, canon rebel digital body, batteries, 430ex flash, and various other items. It makes lens changing much easier! I don't have to sit down or find a bench, I can just unzip the easy access top compartment and swap a lens quickly.

I bought this bag for my Nikon D300 with 18-200mm zoom lens. The bag has sufficient room for this combo. I ordered it due to it having the most compact size and adequate padding/protection. I also wanted the belt loop. I only wish it had an external pocket for holding a spare battery and lens filters, as there is nowhere to put them. When taking more gear, a larger bag is necessary. This one is fine for holding just the camera and lens combo. Nicely made too.

I can't believe no one else has reviewed this product. I have a photo backpack that holds all of my gear but is often too big, too heavy, or too much of a pain to lug around. The backpack also requires you to take it off to retrieve photo gear.
So I had been looking online and in stores for a few weeks for a side bag that would hold my camera, at least one lens, and my sunglasses. Most of the bags I found would hold just my Nikon D90 with a lens attached, but did not have enough room for a second lens or anything else other than a SD card. This Kata 439 bag is perfect. Its super light weight, comes with a nylon water proof/resistant cover, and can hold my D90 with 18-105 attached, a second lens (Nikon 70-300mm or Tokina 11-16mm usually) and either my SB-400 flash or my sunglasses. Its very comfortable and allows access to your gear without taking it off. Also, the zippers for the main camera compartment are kept against your body so no one can easily unzip your bag when in crowds.
I highly recommend this bag to people who do photo walks or day trips. It isn't going to be your only bag, but how often do you really need 6 lenses with you?

My last bag was the Kata 441, but it was just too small for my needs so I sent it back and ordered this 443. I was looking for something that would hold my camera with zoom lens attached, an additional short zoom(kit)lens, a Canon 430EX II flash, and a couple filters, cables, lens brush, etc. My camera/lens combination that would have to fit this bag are the Canon 40D with 70-300mm EF IS USM lens attached. From lens cap to eyepiece this measures 8.5 inches. The Kata site states this bag is 8.1 inches deep, but I knew I had a little room to play with since this is a flexible bag. I must say camera/lens combination fits quite well, if just a little snug top-to-bottom.
As far as the front to back and left to right dimensions, there is room to spare for all the equipment I mentioned, and even if I added a battery grip to my camera it would fit nicely. It is the top-to-bottom measurement that is just a bit short, an additional half inch would be great. Most people prefer the camera handgrip to face to the rear (right side) of the bag, I prefer the handgrip to face the outside of the bag, pointing away from my body. My camera/lens combination fits either way.
The bag is really well made and looks nice. It is well padded and the size and design of the bag doesn't make it look as if I am wearing a piece of luggage (any larger and it would look like luggage). The zipper pulls and nylon webbing have some reflective threads woven in, but overall the bag looks quite plain.
I implied this bag was closer to perfection, but it's not there yet, IMO. The bottom of the bag has no feet or other protection if it is set down. The bottom of the bag bulges where the end of my lens presses against it, so I feel that my equipment could be damaged if the bottom was bumped, or the bag set down hard with no feet or stiffening to protect it. Also, the bottom of the bag will surely wear after time without the protection. Several nice dividers are included, but I am limited in how I can customize the dividers. This is because the dividers and the left and right ends of the bag are nylon material with sewn-in velcro strips that must be matched to their mating velcro strips. The front and rear lining is a felt-like material that velcro sticks to, so the two large dividers can be attached anywhere on that material, but the other dividers must attach to their matching sewn-in velcro strips on the ends of the bag and on the large dividers; if Kata had lined all sides of the bag with this felt material and covered the dividers with this material, it would make the dividers much more customizable as the velcro on the dividers could be attached anywhere to the other dividers or the bag lining. The "weatherproofing" cover doesn't fit over the shoulder strap attachments very well and just takes up room in the bag, so I leave it out. I figure if it's raining hard enough to soak through the bag, the cover isn't going to be much help. Finally, a pet peeve of mine: Most manufacturers are guilty of this, not just Kata; that is the addition of storage pockets inside the top flap. Once these pockets are filled with media cards, etc. they bulge and can rub on the camera's LCD and mar it. Because of the fairly snug fit of this top flap with my equipment I will not use those pockets, but even if there is room to spare for my LCD, I don't use those pockets.
Overall, though, this bag comes the closest to filling my needs of all the bags I have tried. I can highly recommend it. To find the actual internal dimensions of any Kata bag, go to their web site. ALSO, as I was writing this review, I noticed the price of this bag on Amazon jumped from the forty seven dollars with free shipping that I paid, to sixty five dollars with free shipping. At that high price I would surely do my research into other bags before buying this one. Now I feel like I got a real bargain!
ADDED: Today I noticed that flying insects are attracted to the yellow inner liner! That yellow liner is also starting to show dirt. Also, the black color of the bag really heats up in the summer sun, I wish they offered other colors, such as silver-gray. Over the years I have found silver-gray bags repel heat the longest.
ADDED AGAIN: When researching camera bags, I was attracted to the Lowepro Off Trail 2; I thought it might be a better fit for my equipment than this Kata DC-433, but it cost too much. Now Adorama has the Lowepro Off Trail 2 on sale for about half price (forty four dollars ninety five cents and free shipping), so I ordered one. When I get it, I will review it.

I have been using this Kata bag now for over a year and highly recommend this (and similar) Kata bags. I prefer top-load bags for convenience and I try to keep a minimal amount of gear with me so this bag fits the bill perfectly. Currently I have a Pentax K20d with a Pentax 18-250mm lens (not a small camera!), battery charger and a few miscellaneous pieces and have room to spare. The protection built in by Kata seems to work quite well in spite of the bag being relatively light and not having the feeling of heavy padding. Their flexible reinforcement of the walls provides enough cushioning that I have never had a problem even while tossing the camera in the back of my car where it slides around, or even when it one time fell off a bar-stool to a tile floor.
As with any camera bag, perhaps the most critical thing is to think through the gear you intend to carry and insure that the bag you choose will do the right job for you. It surprises me when I read reviews where the bag is too small simply because it is not too difficult to do some quick checks to insure that your gear will fit and, if you want, you will have room for future growth. In my case, I wanted something to hold the gear above plus a flash (which I have yet to purchase!) and the DC-441 perfectly fits the bill. I didn't want a lot of extra space since I really do not plan on purchasing a half dozen lenses to carry around. Before you buy, though, I recommend going directly to Kata's website where you can actually specify your gear and Kata will recommend bags that will fit. Simple enough!
One final note regarding the lack of any protection for the LCD screens. I have previously used bags with this built in and it is a nice feature, however I simply keep a microfiber cloth on top of my camera which protects the screen and is also handy for cleaning the screen or (carefully!) the lens. Perhaps not as elegant as having a cover built into the bag, but it works nicely!

Kata KT DR-467 Digital Rucksack (Black) Review

Kata KT DR-467 Digital Rucksack (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent quite a bit of time looking for the right backpack for my new Canon 40D and lenses. I wanted to use this backpack as (1) a daypack for wildflower photography mountain hikes of 7-12 miles, and (2) a travel pack (airplane carryon and storage case during extended car trips) for my camera, lenses and laptop.
I needed room for a few lenses (17-55 f2.8, 60 mm f2.8 macro, 85 mm f1.8). I will add a telephoto, but I won't be going for one of the monster zooms. My computer is a 15" Lenovo T60p.
I visited several stores to try out different laptop/camera combination packs. I was looking for comfort, ease of use, and capacity for my specific gear. For hiking, I wanted room for more than just the camera and laptop. But I also did not want a pack that was too heavy, or uncomfortable to carry.
The Kata DR-467 is just perfect for my needs. It holds all my gear easily (including the lenses listed above, as well as a 430EX flash, chargers for both the laptop and camera, and a small external USB hard drive). There is still plenty of room for a jacket and lunch on a hike. The shoulder straps are padded and quite comfortable. The waist belt is minimal, not enough to support the pack weight, but it will keep the pack from swaying. The sternum strap is adjustable and fit me well. The included raincover is a nice touch, as are the several accessory pockets. The bottom compartment for camera gear pulls out for easy access. The padded insert is removable, allowing me to use it in another pack, if I wanted to, or to use the DR-467 as a larger capacity daypack when I'm not carrying camera gear.
The Kata DR-467 strikes a good balance between protectiveness and weight. It's got decent padding for the laptop and camera, but it's still only 3.2 lbs. It seems very well made.
I tried two packs that are heavier and more protective. The Kata R-103 GDC Rucksack is a bit heavier, has more padding and room for more gear, but isn't nearly as comfortable. On my 5'11 frame, the sternum strap on the R-103 felt like a choker collar, and could not be adjusted low enough. The weight in the R-103 pulled back uncomfortably away from my shoulders. It's a great pack in terms of padding, and extremely well made, but uncomfortable to actually carry. It's not specifically designed for extra non-camera stuff, although you can carry a few things besides your camera and lenses if you toss out some of the dividers.
The other pack that I seriously considered was the Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium, in Black/Olive. This pack has the best waist belt/suspension system of any of the packs. The Shootout comes in three different sizes. I tried the Medium, but my 15" Lenovo laptop would not fit. That left me with only the Large as an option, which weighs over 9 lbs, empty! It's extremely comfortable, of course, but I wasn't willing to carry a pack that was over 9 lbs before I put any gear in it.
Several other packs didn't hold my laptop, or just weren't at all comfortable. There were three decent choices that I haven't yet mentioned. The Tamrac Adventure 9 Photo/Computer Backpack (Grey/Black), held my camera gear and laptop, with some room for hiking stuff. But the construction quality and comfort just didn't match the Kata or Tenba packs. It seemed a little flimsy. The Think Tank Airport Antidote, Small Airline Carry On Photo Backpack impressed me as an airplane carryon. It's very well designed for that purpose. But it's terrible as a backpack to carry any distance. I thought the Lowepro CompuRover AW Camera Bag (Black) might be a good choice, but I couldn't find one to try out.
In the end, the Kata DR-467 was the best pack for my needs, regardless of price. It happened to be the least expensive as well, but clearly is better made than many other packs that cost a good bit more. I'm very happy.

This review is about Kata KT DC-445 Digital Case (Black) .
My intention was to find a bag for short trips with limited amount and minimal weight of equipment.
For these trips I need camera, flash and two zoom lenses. Very important detail: My camera and I agreed that we'll never leave home without battery grip attached so bag must be wide enough to accomodate Nikon D700 + Nikon MB-D10 Multi Power Battery Pack.
My choice of lenses was Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR. Of course, I wanted to keep at least Tamron 28-75 mm attached and still have some space for Nikon SB-800 AF Speedlight Flash. I'm glad to report that DC-445 satisfied almost all my needs: Camera sits with attached Tamron looking down, flash and 70-300mm are very snug into their quarters.
Some spare space under camera is used for Black Rapid Straps RS4. That's it, problem solved.
However, some cons are still there: DC-445 is not tall enough to store D700 with Nikon 70-300 mm attached. Actually, I can squeeze this assembly at a price of keeping the lid zip fastener partially open. Also, I personally don't like the two-side zipper, too much fuss to open. I prefer some secure buckle to be able to unfasten it quickly in case of need.
Bottom line: Nice bag for configuration I described, light-weighted, has soft and convenient shoulder strap and last but not least: Looks neat and well shaped.

One of the more attractive and durable camera bags I've ever owned in the 40 years I've lugging them around. I bought the Tenba Black Label Small Satchel because it just meets the maximum size restriction for camera bags by museums in our area the allow photography, like the St. Louis Art Museum and the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City, MO. I've been able to cram into this small bag a Nikon D700 with a 24-85mm f/2.8-f/4.0 mounted, Nikon 180mm f2.8, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4 plus cable release, two spare batteries, Columbus GPS, flashlight, lens cleaning kit, pencils, filters and more. It will not hold a camera with a longer lens, like the 180mm, attached or a full sized pro camera, like the D3. After two years and many trips, the bag looks like new.

Kata DR-466i Digital Rucksack (Red) Review

Kata DR-466i Digital Rucksack (Red)
Average Reviews:

At first, I thought that I would have a difficult time fitting all the contents in my camera bag and old backpack inside this. However, it was no sweat. I was able to fit my Canon 50D with 28-135mm attached w/ lens hood, plus my 50mm 1.8, my 430 EX II flash, the camera's battery charger, my 15" Unibody Macbook Pro, the laptop charger, portable external hard drive, various cables, and some adapters. I've still got room for at least 3 more lenses, a tripod, and a water bottle!
Some notable things:
1) Only thin laptops (like Apple's line of notebooks) or laptops smaller than 15" will fit in the sleeve without trouble. In fact, my macbook pro snuggly fit after I removed the neoprene sleeve that protected it before.
2) Putting your DSLR in the bottom compartment will make it difficult to pull out later. Place it in the top area for easier access.
3) I bought the black and red color thinking that the inside will match the red exterior accents. However that's not the case. It is yellow inside no matter what color you bought (by no means a deal breaker for me).
4) The build quality is great. I don't get the impression that this will come apart anytime soon. Also, the bag is very compact and fairly discreet.

I like the bag, it's well made. The yellow color inside is nice. However, I have a D40 with the 55-200mm lense and 18-55mm lense and this big is just barely big enough to camera and lenses in there. Otherwise, it's good.

Kata R-103 GDC Rucksack Review

Kata R-103 GDC Rucksack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I settled on the Kata R-103 after looking at the Lowepro Computrekker and Tamrac Cyber 6 and also considering Crumpler "Whickey & Cox" and the Tenba PB-15C. Having a backpack with room for both laptop and camera gear is great for taking a business trip with a rolling suitcase without also dragging a third piece of luggage for the camera, a load that puts you at risk for having to check your luggage
I have a DSLR, 3 lenses, flash, tripod and the usual assortment of cables, plus a Dell D-600 laptop, charger and cords. The Dell is 15" wide (long?). That assortment would fit any of the five backpacks noted above. If you have more gear than that, you need a bigger backpack, and all of the above makers have bigger models.
The Kata R-103 has several unusual features that give it an edge, but most important, it has a very comfortable harness that can be adjusted to fit both short and tall people. Another reviewer said it fits people 170-180cm tall (5'7" - 5'11"). I'm 167 cm tall (5'6') and it fits very well indeed - a lot better than the Tumi laptop "business" backpack I use when I'm not taking camera gear around.
Kata Features: (1) The zippers for the main (camera) compartment go around the outside edge and down under the bag, allowing it to open compeletely for easy access. (2) There's a smaller zippered flap on the main compartment that gives you easy access to just the camera and lens without the risk that any other gear will fall out. That flap is also zippered all the way down both sides to the bottom. (3) The laptop is accessible from the side, which seems better than access from the top if you want to get at it on a plane (although the zipper could be an inch or two longer). (4) It fits a full-sized 15" laptop. (But get Kata's next size - Model HB-207 -- if you have a 17" laptop!) (5) It has a sternum strap, which makes the bag more comfortable to carry and secures it so you can bend or lean over without the load shifting. (6) It comes with a unique set of straps that replace your regular camera strap so you can carry the camera around your neck, as usual, or hang it from the straps of the backpack. That reduces strain on your neck. It makes you look irremediably geeky, but hey, if you travel with a pile of lenses and a laptop, you are a geek, so why not look like one? (7) It comes with a clip-on waist strap and a strap-on tripod carrier that's much easier to use and less ungainly than the one on the Lowepro Comptrekker. (8) There's a fairly large pair of zippered pockets hidden under the main flap - ideal for cables and small items. (9) And finally, it's not as deep from back to front as the Lowepro Computrekker or the Tamrac Cyber 6, which makes it better balanced everywhere you go and easier to maneuver in tight spots like airplanes and subways.
When new, the zippers feel stiff and so does the harness, but once the zippers have been used a few times and you've walked a couple of miles, the bag loosens up just enough -- kind of like breaking in a good pair of hiking boots. The materials and construction appear to be first rate -- tougher fabric and beefier zippers than the Lowepro bags of the same class. And before buying, I asked Kata a question via their web site and got an immediate and comprehensive response, which is a good sign.

Kata H-12 GDC Holster Case Review

Kata H-12 GDC Holster Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this case to carry a Canon 30D with the standard 18-55mm lens.
My primary use is to carry the camera to hockey and volleyball games.
This is a very high quality case and is perfect for the camera, standard lens, charger, extra battery, manual, spare memory. Most accessories will fit in the two side pouches, and there is a zipper pouch on the inside of the lid.
You can leave the case over your shoulder and just reach down and get the camera, take a shot and place in back in the holster.
You can clip the case closed or fully zip it. The zippers are a tad bit stiff when they are new, but there again, they are high quality. The shoulder strap is extremely comfortable and the case fits in luggage rated as carryons on the airlines.
The front/top of the case is a solid rubberized material and is very sturdy. The case comes with a rain cover, but I haven't used it yet. One of the best things about the bag is that it doesn't look like a camera bag and doesn't garner extra attention.
I plan on adding accesories available for the case when I get a new telephoto lens.

Kata KT DW-493 Digital Waist-Pack Review

Kata KT DW-493 Digital Waist-Pack

Not too small, not too big, just right. This bag holds a large DSLR body (Nikon D700) with a medium sized Nikon prime lens (60mm) attached plus 2 medium sized prime lenses (the forementioned 60mm or a 50mm or 35mm or 24mm) in the two side pockets. In my case, I use one size pocket for a 2nd prime lense and the other to hold two iPhones. There is also a small top compartment for some memory cards and an extra battery but I do not use that as I don't want them to slip out and scratch the camera (unlikely but possible). This bag works great as a shoulder or messenger type bag with the shoulder strap and with waist straps pushed into their storage pocket. With the fanny pack straps out it also works excellently as a fanny or front waist pack and for extra security you can simultaneously use the shoulder strap in messenger bag position. Good construction, high quality materials. Soft on your camera and the yellow lining, while a little much in the fashion department, makes it very easy to see what you are doing and is much better than a darker gray lining as in most cases. Bought recently and it was new. Used it for four straight days in DC last week, and it performed perfectly. Just right size for family day outings where you also want to use your hands for holding kids and packages. Also goes through security machines easily. I have looked at 3 dozen bags for my D700 and purchased 5 or 6. This is the one that really makes it. This bag probably is the best for most medium to large DSLRs unless you want to carry 10 pounds of lenses (I don't) in which case you would want the 495 model. This will be my primary camera bag with extra lenses (should I need them) packed in a suitcase to my destination.

Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack (Black) Review

Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, be sure that you purchase the 467i and not the plain Kata 467. The "i" is for "improved" and Kata has added some useful features to the 467 which I believe makes this backpack the best one of this size. I don't believe another brand backpack with these same features exist...at least not for this price. I've never owned a Kata bag before, but I was familiar with their build quality and knew that they offer features that are well thought out. Currently, I have been through a total of four previous DSLR camera bags and I've finally found a keeper!
Features that sold me on the Kata 467i:
1. The Kata "Insert Trolley" slot for securing (sliding over) your carry-on luggage handle through while traveling.
2. Tripod/monopod/umbrella/water bottle lower mesh holder and upper securing strap
3. Lightweight (3.7 lbs) and high quality materials used throughout.
4. Bright yellow interior (every compartment, even the laptop area) for easily locating bag contents.
5. Top accessible laptop storage is much better than side accessible lap top storage (Lowepro FP 250). I no longer need to lay my bag on its side to get to my lap top. This Kata easily fits my HP DV6 16.5" laptop.
6. Center chest strap to relieve some of the weight from your shoulders
7. The padded floor of the top compartment unzips and folds up, allowing access to the lower camera compartment. This is great for accessing your camera when space is a concern. (coach airline seating)
8. Does not have the typical huge hip/waist belt to get in the way and dig into your back when its not being used (99% of the time), just a simple nylon strap and clips instead.
9. Rain cover is included.
10. The top handle is awesome and very comfortable carry when not having this strapped to your back.
Update:
It has been a couple weeks after purchasing this bag and I am still extremely happy with it. Now I should probably list what camera gear I normally fit into this. Nikon D90 with MB-D80 grip mounted to a Nikon 50mm 1.4 prime. Alongside that I have a Tokina 11-16 2.8 and Nikon 35mm 1.8 prime. This all fits in the lower camera compartment. A Nikon 70-200 2.8 (inside the Nikon zipper case) fits snugly in the top compartment parallel to the ground. There is a little room to spare on the top of this compartment too. After all that, there is still room for miscellaneous things like a small rocket blaster, small table top tripod, SD cards etc. in the front zipper pockets. I hope this helps!
Update 9 months later:
Still going strong. Since my last review I have sold the D90, MB-D80 grip, and 11-16 Tokina. Now using a D700 (no accessory grip) and 16-35 f/4. The 16-35 fits perfectly in the bottom side partition, and the D700 attached to 50mm f/1.4 fits with room to spare in bottom main compartment. Still an excellent backpack and highly recommended.
