I've got a great bag that carries all my camera gear, but sometimes I just wanted something small that would hold just the basics.... I've found it after tossing many other similar bags! This bag is handy, protects my gear, is durable, attractive and worth every dime. FYI the strap is not pictured and it is very nice as well. This bag will hold most camera bodies and small to medium lens. This would also work if you are using a high end point and shoot (i.e. panasonic lumix fz28) Ease of use for quickly grabbing my camera with minimum fuss is so appreciated. I do recommend this bag.

Love this bag, took it all over Europe with us recently, was able to quickly move it from my back to my side to my front for access or just to avoid the pickpockets...
It holds easily my Nikon D70 with its everyday lens along with the telefoto lens on one side... Since I don't have another lens yet, I was able to keep a bottle of water, sunglasses, whatever I needed in the other pocket, and the flap covered it, so it didn't touch the camera.
The front pockets are a little tight for my extra battery with a memory card in the same pocket, but no other complaints. Seems very sturdy so far, and the compartments are easy to un-velcro and move around.

Bought this bag after reading the good reviews. This bag provides excellent protection for your gear. EVERYTHING is overengineered for its purpose; so you really get your money's worth. Plenty of cushioning. This bag works great for my beloved Nikon D50 with the standard kit lens. I'd give it 5 stars if I had just a little bit more room for all the wires, connectors and rechargeable batteries/dock that come with a digital set-up. Its a little bit of a tight squeeze with what I've got right now. Overall worth it!!!

Like many dSLR owners, I've been in search of the 'perfect' camera bag. While that will differ for others based on the size of the camera, lenses, accessories, etc, I'm very happy with my purchase of the Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5X.
I'm planning on traveling with my new Nikon D300 and want to take along my Nikon 18-70mm lens, 70-300mm VR lens, and 50mm lens. I'm happy to report that all three lens and the camera fit snugly into the main body of this great bag. I'll probably keep the 18-70 on the camera although it does work with the 70-300 on camera -- just a little tighter fit when I zip the lid closed. The front pocket can be used for personal items and can even fit my SB600 flash. The top opens away from my body - a feature that I find makes it much easier to remove the camera.
While I want to fit ALL these items in my bag, I also want it to be as discreet and small as possible. That's asking a lot of any bag, but the Velocity 5X manages to do this. It can be worn on the shoulder or across the shoulder, and can be used with or without the hip belt, which tucks away very conveniently into it's own storage pocket on the back of the bag. It's not too big, and not to small - just the perfect-sized bag in my opinion.

The high performance and versatile Velocity 5x - Photo Hip Pack Convertible doesn't look like a camera bag, but it holds and protects a digital or film SLR with zoom lens attached up to 5" long, additional lenses and a flash. Inside the main compartment, the camera with lens attached is suspended on two vertical, foam-padded dividers. It converts from a shoulder bag to a hip pack with the Tuck-A-Way hip belt (adjusts to 53"). Cinch straps on the hip belt help stabilize the pack. For fast and convenient access to camera gear, the Quick Flip Top opens away from the body. The front pocket has organizer pockets inside to keep a mobile phone, PDA or photo accessories within easy reach. It also features Tamrac's patented Memory & Battery Management System that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that are used up. Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW Review

Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW
Average Reviews:

I bought this camera bag after reading several reviews, and decided I would use it for a minimalist approach to photography. It works well, I don't get burdened down by unnecessary gear and burdensome weight.
It's big enough to hold my Nikon D5000, battery charger, SB400 speedlight, several filters, an Olympus point-n-shoot camera in its case, a mini tripod, cleaning kit, remote, and any other utilities. It will also hold another lens, I intend to get the recently released Nikon 28-300mm VR. It should fit, based on the dimensions of all the gear and other reviews.
It works better over a t-shirt than over a shirt. Generally stick to tees or buttonless tops for comfort.
It's comfortable, light, packs into another back pack if required with space for other items. I did that for aircraft carry on during a recent trip to Petra in Jordan (October 2010).
The 302 version of the bag was too large, and I have no need for pro sized bags. If you're looking for a bag that will help you prevent clutter, give you quick, easy access to your gear, be light and unobtrusive and not get in your way, then I recommend this item.
FYI, I also own the Lowepro Passport Sling.

Kata KT DC-443 Digital Case (Black) Review

Kata KT DC-443 Digital Case (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My last bag was the Kata 441, but it was just too small for my needs so I sent it back and ordered this 443. I was looking for something that would hold my camera with zoom lens attached, an additional short zoom(kit)lens, a Canon 430EX II flash, and a couple filters, cables, lens brush, etc. My camera/lens combination that would have to fit this bag are the Canon 40D with 70-300mm EF IS USM lens attached. From lens cap to eyepiece this measures 8.5 inches. The Kata site states this bag is 8.1 inches deep, but I knew I had a little room to play with since this is a flexible bag. I must say camera/lens combination fits quite well, if just a little snug top-to-bottom.
As far as the front to back and left to right dimensions, there is room to spare for all the equipment I mentioned, and even if I added a battery grip to my camera it would fit nicely. It is the top-to-bottom measurement that is just a bit short, an additional half inch would be great. Most people prefer the camera handgrip to face to the rear (right side) of the bag, I prefer the handgrip to face the outside of the bag, pointing away from my body. My camera/lens combination fits either way.
The bag is really well made and looks nice. It is well padded and the size and design of the bag doesn't make it look as if I am wearing a piece of luggage (any larger and it would look like luggage). The zipper pulls and nylon webbing have some reflective threads woven in, but overall the bag looks quite plain.
I implied this bag was closer to perfection, but it's not there yet, IMO. The bottom of the bag has no feet or other protection if it is set down. The bottom of the bag bulges where the end of my lens presses against it, so I feel that my equipment could be damaged if the bottom was bumped, or the bag set down hard with no feet or stiffening to protect it. Also, the bottom of the bag will surely wear after time without the protection. Several nice dividers are included, but I am limited in how I can customize the dividers. This is because the dividers and the left and right ends of the bag are nylon material with sewn-in velcro strips that must be matched to their mating velcro strips. The front and rear lining is a felt-like material that velcro sticks to, so the two large dividers can be attached anywhere on that material, but the other dividers must attach to their matching sewn-in velcro strips on the ends of the bag and on the large dividers; if Kata had lined all sides of the bag with this felt material and covered the dividers with this material, it would make the dividers much more customizable as the velcro on the dividers could be attached anywhere to the other dividers or the bag lining. The "weatherproofing" cover doesn't fit over the shoulder strap attachments very well and just takes up room in the bag, so I leave it out. I figure if it's raining hard enough to soak through the bag, the cover isn't going to be much help. Finally, a pet peeve of mine: Most manufacturers are guilty of this, not just Kata; that is the addition of storage pockets inside the top flap. Once these pockets are filled with media cards, etc. they bulge and can rub on the camera's LCD and mar it. Because of the fairly snug fit of this top flap with my equipment I will not use those pockets, but even if there is room to spare for my LCD, I don't use those pockets.
Overall, though, this bag comes the closest to filling my needs of all the bags I have tried. I can highly recommend it. To find the actual internal dimensions of any Kata bag, go to their web site. ALSO, as I was writing this review, I noticed the price of this bag on Amazon jumped from the forty seven dollars with free shipping that I paid, to sixty five dollars with free shipping. At that high price I would surely do my research into other bags before buying this one. Now I feel like I got a real bargain!
ADDED: Today I noticed that flying insects are attracted to the yellow inner liner! That yellow liner is also starting to show dirt. Also, the black color of the bag really heats up in the summer sun, I wish they offered other colors, such as silver-gray. Over the years I have found silver-gray bags repel heat the longest.
ADDED AGAIN: When researching camera bags, I was attracted to the Lowepro Off Trail 2; I thought it might be a better fit for my equipment than this Kata DC-433, but it cost too much. Now Adorama has the Lowepro Off Trail 2 on sale for about half price (forty four dollars ninety five cents and free shipping), so I ordered one. When I get it, I will review it.

I bought this bag for my Canon digital eos xti. It fits very well.
The only con for this bag is that the front buckle can be somewhat cranky sometimes (you have to slide it in just so or it won't click) and I'm worried about it breaking. Even if the buckle does break, my camera will still be safe because there is a zipper around the pocket, but sometimes it's nice to let the camera bag just hang from the camera strap rather than using the longer bag strap.
It fits a 300 mm zoom lens, so it can accommodate a pretty good range. You just have to choose which lens you want to bring with you and leave it attached.
It is small enough that you don't feel conspicuous lugging it around, but it does protect the camera well. Pockets fit uv lens filter, batteries, memory cards, usb cable. No space for extra lenses. It's a great bag for travel.

I bought this bag based on price and size as seen in the pictures. I was worried that it was significantly less than bags from the more familiar companies. Now that I have the bag, I have no regrets. I have used it on a couple of sightseeing trips now without issue.
Pros:
1. This bag allows for my Sony a-350 camera with a 18-200mm lens attached, the two extra kits lens and all accessories to be stored in the bottom pouch with ease. There is room for more.
2. The upper portion of the bag is very large allowing for wallets, keys, diapers, snacks, guidebooks, etc.
3. The computer compartment will easy hold a 17" computer
4. The straps are adjustable and comfortable even carrying a full load. The waist straps are not in the way even when not buckled.
5. The camera and computer sections are very well padded.
6. It looks almost like a normal backpack. There are multiple adjustment and compression straps. The material is solid and the bag fells strong and well-made
Cons:
1. The zipper on the camera compartment is a little hard to use and thus this bag will not be useful if you want to remove the camera very quickly.
I have not used the tripod holder or the all weather cover yet, but I have no reason to suspect they will not work as well. For its size and price, this bag is a good deal

Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack Camera Case with Tripod Review

This is one of the best purchases I've made. The Pack is sturdy and very durable. Easily fitting my TRV-900 Digital Video Camera in the bottom half along with a wide angle lens and other items.. and my new Canon SX 10 IS in the top portion which I modified with foam for protection. I don't sport a laptop but wanted that feature for that or any other things I would eventually want to carry. Although the main reason for this purchase was to have both a full 3 chip digital video camera and my SX 10 both at hand for my adventurous excursions. I easily fitted a full (standing height) extendable tripod with a quick release plate to the bottom portion and used the straps to hold it in place. The above pics are what it looks like. This purchase does supply a great little tripod but even that one was to big to lug around. Fortunately I had a smaller one that was much more sturdy that fit snugly beneath the pack. All in all a great buy in my opinion. I've searched for the perfect match to my shooting needs for a great many years. I've used just about every type of bag including a basic backpack but none has hit the mark like this lil gem here. What I like about it the most is how it stands erect almost like it had been given some viagra. It's rigid enough to provide fast and easy access to your equipment but comfortable enough to wear all day. Another important thing is that it does not look like your typical camera bag which is very important to discouraging thieves. But it does have a quick release waist harness for added security. A great product to be sure.

Domke F-2 Original Bag (Sand) Review

Domke F-2 Original Bag (Sand)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used Domke bags several years ago when I worked as a news photographer. The design was/is one of the best around for a bag to work out of rather than just to carry equipment. I liked the bag for its "floppiness" and its ability to mold itself to your body when carried. The biggest problem with the bags--and I saw this in virtually every Domke bag being carried by news photographers at the time--was that they wore through due to friction. Carrying it every day meant it rubbed against your side and mine eventually wore a big hole in the back. The only other problem I had with the bag was the lack of weather proofing. Being cotton, when they got wet they stayed wet for a long time.
I switched to a waterproofed nylon bag but it had its own problems. Zippers wore out and the rough nylon rubbed against and wore spots on my jackets.
Bottom line is--there is no perfect camera bag. The best I've found has been the Billingham brand (those are 5-star bags). They are dense-weave cotton with a waterproofing applied. They don't wear as easily and they don't absorb water. They're as easy to work out of as a Domke. They cost a LOT more, however.
I like the Domke bags as a less expensive alternative to the Billinghams. I still like to transport equipment in heavily padded, waterproof nylon bags but, more often than not, I'll carry a Domke or Billingham canvas bag when I'm actually shooting photos.

Lowepro SlingShot 300 All-Weather Camera Bag (Black) Review

Lowepro SlingShot 300 All-Weather Camera Bag (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATE: After Six Months - July 07 - This is a review of AW300 - Amazon lumped all Slingshot reviews together after my original review, which was the first AW300 review.
I've been using this bag for about 6 months and I am very happy with it. It is very well designed, well constructed & well padded. It is about the size of the backpacks that middle/high school-aged kids use, but it is fully padded and retains its shape. As advertised, it easily holds a large SLR (in my case, the more of a medium, Nikon D80) with an 80-200mm f/2.8 lens attached, along with a lot of other stuff (e.g. a 18-70 lens, 50mm lens, SB-600 flash, a 1.4x teleconverter, cables, camera & flash manuals, batteries, filters, & memory cards, with room to spare).
If you are not familiar with the Slingshot bags, this is a sling-type bag which is like a combination messenger bag/one-strapped back pack. It is worn on the back with the wide, well-padded shoulder strap across the front of your body from the left hip to the right shoulder. Then, to access your camera, you slide the bag around front, (this is easy to do) without removing it, like accessing a messenger bag or shoulder bag. The flap opens away from your body so it does not interfere with access, as a messenger bag or shoulder bag typically would, however. In this position, you can easily remove your camera while wearing the bag, though most of the rest of the storage compartments cannot be accessed without removing the bag. With a D80-size camera, it is easy to lift the ends of the padded interior dividers to access a lens (or two) or a flash in the main compartment.
As some have noted in reviews of other sling-type bags, a sling bag is less comfortable than a backpack for heavy loads and/or extended use, but it allows convenient access to your camera without removing it. That is true of this bag as well, but, this bag has a nicely padded, wide shoulder strap, and most importantly, a waist belt that is padded at the hips which really takes a lot of the weight of the bag off your shoulder. After shooting more than a dozens of lacrose games, wearing it the entire time (albeit, without the camera in it most of that time), I found the bag to be extremely comfortable. As compared to my previous sling bag, a Kata T-214, this is much more comfortable (the shoulder strap on that bag slipped around inside its padding, which was also too short, so I had to frequently readjust it to keep the nylon strap from digging into my shoulder). The Kata bag was also too small to hold my camera with an 80-200 lens mounted (which is what I mostly wanted it for).
The only con I can think of is that it lacks a good place to strap a monopod (or tripod, though I don't think I would want the weight of a tripod with a sling bag). There are some loops on the middle of the bag (they are the darker stripes on the grey field in the picture of the bag), but they aren't well located nor do they seem well designed to hold a monopod (definitely not a tripod). I would like to see a couple of adjustable straps on the non-opening side to attach a monopod. Also, if you don't need/want to carry your camera with a large zoom attached, the smaller Slingshots would probably be good choices (though I don't think they have the nice padded waist belt, which is really important if your equipment is at all heavy).
UPDATE COMMENT: Although I would like attachments on the side of the bag for a monopod (as the smaller Slingshots have), the center loops work well enough with a velcro strap attached around the monopod.
Overall, very highly recommended.

I have been a photographer for over thirty years and I was in the wholesale professional photographic equipment business for about twenty. I now photograph wild birds in some of the harshest environments on earth so when I review an item like this I like to put it through the wringer. And that is just what I did.
First: I like the look and the basic design of the bag. The velcro for the top flap is really heavy duty. It is a good substitute for zippers IF you are using the orange bag inside of the case. The orange protection bag can be pulled out and the insert with the dividers can be reinserted without the water resistant bag. There is space for memory cards and filters just above where the top lid attaches to the case, but no where else. The backpack-type strap is unique and I liked it, although it took some getting used to. The interior space is surprisingly small considering the size of the bag. However, I don't believe that this was designed to be an "all-purpose" camera bag (as are most Tenbas and Lowe Pros). This was made for transporting equipment (photo or otherwise) into really wet environments. So that's what I tested it for.
I used the orange "bag" for all of the water tests. I stuffed the interior dividers with colored paper (I was not up for risking my own photo gear) that turns really dark when exposed to the slightest bit of moisture. Next, I took it outside and took out my garden hose and my trusty eight-way spray nozzle.
I started with the "mist" setting and held the nozzle just two feet from the bag and sprayed all around it for about 20 minutes. If you have ever been close to a great falls you have an idea of what I was testing for. The bag wipes off surprisingly well. The paper was completely dry. Success #1.
Second I used a setting that would simulate a pretty good rain storm. Since I have been caught in these many times with my own camera bag in the past (including in the rain forest of Peru and a down-pour in a South Florida that I thought would never end) I felt that one hour was just about the right amount of time. I noticed some water inside of the case itself but not inside of the orange bag. It was still dry inside. Success #2.
Now, I wouldn't have subjected the bag to this last test if it were not for the photo on the tag that showed the bag being submerged in water. I wanted to see how well the Camera Armor bag protected gear from an accidental fall into water. This has happened to me several times in my life and I have ended up damaging a Hassleblad, two Leicas and ruining a favorite view camera lens. Time for a dip in the pool!
I stood near the edge of the four foot deep part of a community swimming pool and imagined that I had a brand new Canon 50D (yet to be released at this time) and about $5000 in lenses in the bag. I "lost" my balance, fell into the water and immediately raised the bag out of the pool as quickly as I would have if it had been for real. Wow! No paper inside of the bag was even a little bit wet. However, if I had memory cards in the space that I think they were meant to be they would have been subjected to a drowning unless they were in their own little plastic cases. Success #3!
I took out the colored paper and stuck white paper inside it now. I took it to a dry field and almost covered it with dirt and sand. Again, the interior of the bag had dirt in it, but not the protective orange bag. Success #4. I was tired and gave up in any further torture.
This is a GREAT bag for what it is designed for and worth the cost. But I have to be honest and say that this model should not be considered a "Pro" bag. There just isn't enough room for even enough gear for a day trip. Also, it is hard to get in and out of when using the orange bag. Where I think that this bag fits in is as a way for adventurists to carry a modest amount of sensitive gear and protect it from getting wet or dirty. I could put a digital SLR with a zoom attached, a flash, a GPS and radio or two. Until it is available in a larger model I would suggest the pro gets an external cover for his/her existing case. If you think that you and your bag might get submerged carry your equipment in a Pelican case.
I give the Camera Armor 5 stars for water resistance and 3 for being a well thought-out camera bag, so 4 stars in all.

Fantastic combo in this package. The LowePro 202AW is excellent and comfortably holds my D300S camera with 18-200 lens attached, plus two other lenses and flash unit - heaps of spare room as well. Tripod in package a little less than solid but still a very good buy - pricing point is excellent.

This is the language posted on Amazon.com: "Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW All Weather Camera Sling Bag with FREE Lowepro Speedster Camera Neck Strap". Upon receipt of my camera bag, and looking at my receipt, I discovered that I was charged $8.06 for the "free" camera neck strap. The vendor, Electronics Expo denies any responsibility for the deception, and places all responsibility squarely on the shoulder of Amazon.com.
The strap is being returned for a refund!!!!
Shame on someone------Amazon.com or Electronics Expo...(The rating is for the bag, not for the service)
Love the bag. Pentax k-x with attached Sigma 70-200mm lens attached fits nicely in the center compartment.

Tamrac 5768 Velocity 8x Pro Photo Sling Pack (Black) Review

I now own three Velocity Sling Bags. I frist purchased the Velocity 9, as I thought the 7 would not be big enough to carry my Cannon 300 and now the 400XTI, along with room for Three lenses Cannon 17-40 f4L, the 24-105 F4L, and the Cannon 70-200 f4L. assorted filters, caps batteries, and memory cards. well it was too big, next tried the Velocity 7, too small had to leave one lense out, well the 8X solved all problems. in addition they did one thing I had hoped for the zipper flaps are on the inside of the pack now so you open it away from you. makes it easier to get at everything.
If I had but one more suggestion it would be to be able to lock the cover closed. In Europe one has to be careful of pick pockets and locks would allow me to leave the pack on my back while more through towns and villages.
