After reading some of the negative product reviews here, I felt compelled to defend this product. To clarify: Yes, this point-and-shoot is susceptible to blocky images in higher ISO/low light. But that's pretty much the standard for budget entries in the $100-200 price range. For those who say Canon is superior: I took side-by-side comparison shots with my fiance's Powershot A590is, which, despite being older and two megapixels lower, is a similarly-featured camera at the same exact $150 price point.
The difference? If anything, the Kodak's picture quality was slightly superior at a forced 100 ISO in low light and it was a wash using auto-modes. The Kodak's video quality, while not truly up to par to a promised "720p HD quality," is far superior to what I've seen to other budget point-and-shoots, and with proper lighting is much better than your average, ultra-grainy Youtube-quality video from point-and-shoots.
The interface on the Kodak is much, much easier to use, much to my relief! I'm not a big fan of the Canon's menu navigation and buttons, whereas I'd compare the Kodak to the very easy to use budget Nikon Coolpix.
Is it the best 8-10 megapixel on the market? I can't claim enough expertise to pronounce anything definitive; I haven't tested every camera in this class. But considering the price, considering some of the competition at this price point, and considering that you have to have modest expectations for a point-and-shoot that's less than $300 these days, you're getting a lot for your money in a very sleek form factor. Video quality, Kodak service support, and being able to charge through USB are added bonuses. I'm perfectly happy with this camera, so I'm pleased to recommend it.

The quality of the photographs generated by the Printer Dock 4000 are superb. The pictures are super. Figuring the costs associated with the Printer Dock, the user will find out each photo costs about $.63 using the dock. Several photo shops and even the common drug stores will produce outstanding photographs from your digital camera for just $.29 per photo. Some online photo services will also provide this service. My opinion is that the Printer Dock 4000 should not be purchased. It is not an economically sound decision, but the convenience is great.

Just got this brand new camera. I replaced our Casio, which was one of the most impressive digital cameras I have ever owned (had it for only 14 months). The reason for the replacement, my family loses cameras... a lot.. and this one went bye bye somewhere. The Casio had great features, a nice touch screen, a great zoom, good shutter speed for sporting events, and time between photos was great for the photo quality. It had one flaw, its inability to take night photos and the movies even in natural light were only okay. There were a ton of options, which for a standard user could be overwhelming.
Now to the PowerShot. This camera, sometimes will look grainy on the viewfinder until the actual photo itself is taken, but when the photo is taken... perfection. No matter the differences in light and shadows in a picture, the PowerShot somehow nicely accommodates for this. While the standard zoom is 4X, it can go to 10x, and with the shutter and flash, it still takes much better than most from beyond its standard range. PIctures at night with or without flash is absolutely incredible and movies are easy to take and upload. The features are plenty, but not overly complex. This means a standard user cannot get into trouble, but the highly discerning user might want more. There are other 10 and 12 MP cameras out there, and many have poor picture quality, which for me makes no sense... having a high quality image of a bad shot is an oxymoron. You don't have to worry with this camera.
Here is the one downside... time between shots. If you are looking for a camera to hold down the shutter and take pictures in multiples in rapid fire, this might not be the camera for you. While a faster memory card will help issue, you will not be able to rattle off 5 shots in 10 seconds during your kid's soccer game. If you want to have 2 or 3 perfect shots in that 10 seconds, this is the camera for you. It doesn't have a touch screen either, but with the Casio, this sometimes got in the way during viewing or taking shots.
Summarizing... This camera is easy to use, not confusing, has a great smart mode, and has yet to take a poor picture in any light condition. If you can't take a good picture on your current camera, you will be able to on this one. The movie mode is very easy, but should be used in good light either indoors or out. It does zoom during the movie, which I understand isn't common, and the microphone is extremely sensitive... which means if you fumble around, it will record the fumbling noise, but that is very hard to avoid on any camera. It is lightweight, but substantial enough to hold comfortably. All in all, this is a camera any family would be happy to have.

Bought this one for my 12yo niece. I try every piece of electronic equipment before I give it. I was surprised. It took me only 2-3 minutes to get familiar with the camera's operation out of the box (no instruction reading). I found it's set-up to be very intuitive without the massive confusing menu system of - oh - lets say the CANNON POWERSHOT A560.
Set up the camera mode on a dial switch.
turn flash on/off/auto at a single button.
point-click-picture. And nice ones too.
small problem - the picture stabilization mode only seems to work when the flash is used. When the flash is on, you can violently shake this camera all over the place and it will capture the crispest image when it goes off, even your shoes or ceiling if you're shaking it that violently.
Using a 4GB sandisk sdhc card, on maximum 10mp, the camera says it will hold just under 2000 pictures on the counter. On minimum 1.2mp setting, the counter stops at 9999. Yes, nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine. The numbers don't add up to me for MP size and # of photos, but if upscaling is used ( as I've read from others) , then these picture quantities do start to make sense.
Between the Cannon power shot and another hard to use upscale Sony camera, both my mother and sister wanted this one for ease of use. What they actually want.
My neice looooooooooooves this camera.
Takes about 45min of video too.
If you want wall sized pictures - this is not for you.
Full page picture - It can handle pretty well.
4x6 memories - I don't think anyone can go wrong.

I'm impressed with the picture quality and the ease of use. I can expand a picture to wallpaper size on my monitor and not get pixilation. It has several settings but can be used easily right out of the box. The online manual (downloadable in PDF)is easy to understand & comprehensive. The attached instructions are pretty basic. I don't like that it has a proprietary USB cable, though spares can be had off Ebay for less than $5. Also a person can remove the SD card & upload from it directly. It will take up to a 32 GB card according to the manual. I can get around a 100+ photos on a 1 GB card. Battery life is OK, takes 2 AA batteries.
I'm not a real camera buff, I just wanted a point & shoot camera. This fits the bill perfectly for me.

My main concerns when purchasing this camera a few months ago were whether or not it would get good, stable images of my fast moving toddler (it does,) whether the pictures would be nice looking (they are-vivid life-like colors,) and whether it would hold up well for a few years of family use (the jury is still out on that one.) I am pleased that the between shot delay is minimal and that it was very easy to "get the hang of." I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a decent point and shoot option for daily family life.
