(More customer reviews)Since I usually get it wrong, I wanted a pre-cut LCD protector I didn't need to cut to the right size. I also needed one that was thin enough to allow the Nikon D5000 LCD to close as if nothing was there (a feat few other protectors achieve).
This does both perfectly.
Nikon made it difficult for aftermarket LCD protectors on two counts: First, anything but the thinnest material will prevent the LCD from rotating and closing in its original position. Second, the LCD panel is ever-so-slightly beveled on the edges, making it nearly impossible for any LCD protector to fit perfectly right up to the edge of the display. Nevertheless, this item is nicely cut for the entire surface of the Nikon display.
If you're very particular like me, you'll notice a 1mm bevel that prevents any protector from adhering perfectly flat to the edges. Nonetheless, this item gets it right by being as perfectly cut as possible. The protector stays in-place and does its job well.
Since there are no instructions, here are a few tricks to get this installed correctly: there's only one protective sheet (some LCD protectors come with two). So, as you pull it away to expose the adhesive side, place that side against your camera's LCD. Start on an edge (not a diagonal) and gradually 'roll' the item onto the display using a credit card. Continue flattening it against the LCD and pushing out air bubbles along the way. If you find fingerprints, fuzz or a piece of hair adhere to the adhesive side as you're applying it, use a bit of transparent tape to pull it off (not your fingers!) and continue. When finished, give it some strong strokes with a credit card to push out remaining bubbles and make it firm.
