(More customer reviews)This is an exceptional tele-converter for Canon EOS lenses. There are a number of tele-converters out there for current Canon SLR's and lenses (Sigma, Tamron and of-course Canon just to name a few). The Canon converters are only compatible with Çanon L series lenses and will only auto focus with apertures of F4 and larger (for 1.4X) and F2.8 and larger (for 2x). The Kenko PRO 300 has the same aperture limitations (unless some of the pins are taped) however it will work with most Canon lenses. This is definitely a quality PRO product. When used with a high quality lens (I use it pretty much exclusively with my EF70-200f4L) the IQ (image quality) is almost indistinguishable from the lens. In addition focus speed seems just as fast as the lens with out the tele-converter (assuming your lens has an F4 aperture or larger). The general consensus seems to be that the Canon converter is slightly sharper on the edges with the Kenko being equal at the center. For those shooting with a 1.6 crop camera the Kenko should be indistinguishable from the Canon for about a $100.00 less. On the plus side (other then price) the Kenko is more compact and can easily fit in you pocket and can be used with far more lenses (again, the Canon converts can only be used with L series lenses). On the down side, if your using L series lenses, is the color. The Kenko is black while most L series lenses are white (as are the Canon tele-converters). What you get with the Kenko PRO 300 is an excellent tele-converter designed for digital cameras. The elements are special coated to reduce reflections from the image sensor back into the lens. I've yet to notice any chromatic aberration or vignetting. The color and sharpness are as good as the lens you're using.
In summery, this an excellent product. Image quality (especially on a 1.6 crop camera) is about as good as it gets. It's electronic circuitry accurately passes all exif data to the camera. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the mount between the lens and converter seems to be a little stiff though it has yet to give me problems. On the other hand the mount from the converter to the camera seems to be quite smooth.

Kenko AF 1.5x Super High Quality Teleplus converter also has genuine Gated Array IC and is compact for light weight and easy handling. Full AF is capable with lenses having a maximum aperture of F/4.5 or brighter. (Manual focusing will be required with lenses of smaller aperture.)Placed between the camera body and lens, a teleconverter contains a set of optics that will effectively increase the focal length of a lens by a specific amount. Common magnifications are 1.4 times and 2 times, but the Kenko teleplus PRO 300 AF converter has a 3x magnification. For example, using a 2 times (2x) teleconverter will increase the focal of 300mm lens to 600mm. The Teleplus PRO 300 converters are made with high quality multi-coated optical glass supplied by Hoya Corporation, the worlds largest manufacturer of optical glass. These glass elements are designed to match the optical quality of the prime lens (even at the edges) and telephoto zoom lenses. The optical design of the elements and light path is wide enough not to cause vignetting. The PRO 300 family is designed specifically to be used with prime telephoto lenses of 100mm or above, such as, a 300 mm f/2.8 lens, and work best with telephoto lenses of 200mm to 500mm. The PRO 300 can be used with telephoto zoom lenses as well as prime lenses. However, Kenko does not recommend them for zoom lenses that have a range starting under 50 mm.

(More customer reviews)I've had these for a few years now. They're built really well, and in all this time they have developed absolutely no signs of wear.
Tubes are really pretty basic in construction. There are no glass elements, just mounts on each end and a pass-through for the lens data terminals. These are well-built, and as such they fulfill their intended purpose - that being that you now have an easy, less messy alternative to taping a cardboard toilet paper tube between your lens and camera body (and yes, you can do that if you want to go the low-tech route. Just make sure you seal the light leaks!) Any other issues are likely to be caused by a misunderstanding of the tube's purpose, not by the tube itself.
There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding extension tubes, based on some of the reviews I've read. While it would be difficult, without diagrams, to explain exactly how an extension tube works and the effect it has on focus distance and magnification, I can at least try to help with some of the problems people seem to be experiencing in these reviews.
1) There are two distinct versions of these tubes. On the 36mm tube, you will see either "for C/AF" or "for C/AFs". The ones that say "for C/AF" do not support the Canon EF-S mount. They support only the EF mount. If any of your lenses are EF-S, then you will need the ones that say "for C/AFs". Functionally, they are equivalent, but the "C/AFs" models can mount both types of lenses. As of now, it is impossible for me to tell which version is being sold here. I have to assume that they are selling the "C/AFs" model.
2) Extension tubes do not "magnify", technically. They increase the distance between the lens and the sensor. Imagine a projector sitting a foot from the wall, projecting an image on that wall. Using a pen, you outline the outer edge of that projected image on the wall. That's the outline of your "sensor". The image fills the "sensor". Now add more distance between the projector and the wall (that's what an extension tube does). It's the same image, but now it's projected onto a larger surface, flowing over the boundaries of the "sensor". So now the "sensor" only records the part of the image in the very center, just enlarged due to the added distance from the projector.
3) Moving the lens farther away from the sensor alters the usable focus distance for that lens. Don't take these numbers as truth (it's just an example), but a lens that normally focuses from 3ft to infinity might focus from 6 inches to 2 feet, once the extension tube is put on. How drastic the change is depends on the length of the tube and the focal length of the lens (See the next point).
4) The lens focal length has a huge impact on the focus range, but not necessarily in the direction you'd think. Longer lenses (like 200mm or 300mm) won't see as much difference in focal range with the smaller tubes. While there is a difference, you still won't be able to get close enough to really improve the magnification significantly. Wider lenses show a more drastic change. I have used my shortest tube (least "magnification") on my 17-40mm f/4L. Even though it's the shortest tube, when zoomed out to 17mm, the camera will actually only focus INSIDE THE LENS. Meaning even if I lay a dime on the glass of my lens, it's still not close enough to be in focus. That's why so many people like to use their tubes with a 50mm f/1.8. It's a nice medium-length lens that can allow really close focus while still being usable.
5) There's no such thing as a free lunch! Remember the projector reference in #2? Well, just like the tubes, the farther that projector gets from the wall, the darker the projection will be due to light falloff. Meaning you will lose light when you use tubes. The amount you lose increases exponentially with the added distance from the sensor. So in many cases you will need to mount on a tripod or use external lighting. Also, any imperfections in the lens (aberrations, fringing, etc) will be effectively "magnified" just as much as the image itself. And the lens resolution limits will also be made much more obvious since the sensor will be recording a smaller section of the overall image circle provided by the lens. However, it's important to note that the benefits usually will outweigh the drawbacks, especially when the tubes are used within reason (i.e. I wouldn't do resolution-critical photos with all three tubes stacked together).
Hopefully this information is useful to someone. If I said anything confusing or if you see any mistakes, please let me know and I'll be happy to make adjustments/corrections/clarifications as necessary. But as far as the product itself goes, these are excellent, solid extension tubes with a great fit, no light leaks, and a nice light weight.

(More customer reviews)This has been one of the best investments that I have made for this camera (Nikon D3000). I have been able to take stunning Macro shots without the use of a macro lens. I have not had to make and changes to the camera or devices that came with the camera and they have worked flawlessly the first time they were put onto the camera. This product is every bit worth the money that i spent just for the tubes and it comes with extras in the box (they are the ones in the description, such as cleaning cloth and so on). This is a must buy if you are into the photography thing and you like to get close up images of variety of things ranging from things like flowers (about tic tac size) to monarch butterflies and other insects. Fantastic Product and would definately recommend to a Friend for their photography needs.

(More customer reviews)I was pleased with the purchase and delivery process. Regarding the product, I have used it only a couple of times and it is too early to tell. I had mixed success, but it takes getting use to and a lot of patience. It should only be used when you have the time to focus slowly to get the distance you seek. It is not a magic silver bullet solution for increasing focal distance and you need plenty of light. However, I understood the limitations going in. It just is another tool in your arsenal to enjoy and experiment with.

(More customer reviews)If you are looking for a functional macro, for example to take pictures of individual flowers, keep in mind that these extension tubes work better on telephoto lenses for this purpose.
Use of any of these tubes on a lens with a focal length of less than 55mm (on a digital camera with an APS-C sensor, 1.5x crop) will result in a focusing distance so close you would only be able to photograph the individual stamen. For example, with the 36mm tube on a 50mm lens, I could capture a human hair from a few inches away. Even the 12mm on a 50mm lens results in an exceptionally close focusing distance (eg, photographing a small nail). However, with the 12mm tube on an 85mm lens, I can capture a flower at about 18 inches away.
The tubes are decently made. I have the light-weight plastic Nikon lenses, so not a problem for these and no flexing.

Zeikos ZE-CVAFN Auto Focus Macro Extension Tubes for Nikon Review

(More customer reviews)These package of 3 extension tubes worked great from the first time I put one on. I tried the 36mm first. AF no problem on my Nikon 105 mm 2.8D. I then stacked the 20mm on top of the 36mm Wow what a close up. Then I added the 12mm and oh boy! Super close ups all metering & Af worked just fine. I am using them on my Nikon D 90
You need to be at F32 at least because you have so little depth of field with the extension tubes stacked. But that is what I wanted. You can't beat this price for a set of 3 tubes. The Nikon ones are manual only. The Kenko are a bit better quality but cost 2-1/2 times the price. So if you're like me & want to play around with ultra macro (I mean photographing the hairs on a sugar ant), then this setup works just fine. I feel I got my money's worth. I purchased a 12mm Kenko and that did not have the reach I wanted. I returned the Kenko because the Kenko tube was more $ than all three of the Zeikos ZE-CVAFN Auto Focus Macro Extension Tubes. If you're a hobbyist, or amature, then these tubes work extremely well.
