Love this bag. Bought it right before a 5-day tour of the Pacific Rim. Carried a D80 with grip and three zooms, along with a flash and accessories bag. Fully loaded it is heavy, but that is a function of what you put in it. Also has great outer pockets and tons of padding. I did not like the lack of a chest strap, though it comes with removable waist strap. Also the laptop sleeve is huge and easily swallowed my iPad, cleaning cloths, and a few magazines. It stands up on its own, and the bottom has rubber feet to prevent scuffing. The inner camera bag is removable, in case you want to use it as a day pack or for a non-photography purpose.
PROS:
* Lots of room
* Versatile divider system
* Outer pocket has many slots for accessories and travel related gear.
CONS:
* Will not fit under an airline seat when loaded. I had to turn it sideways and push very hard. Once under there, almost impossible to get anything out of the bag.
* Can be bulky, but if you need a bag of this size it comes with the territory.
* Outside side mesh pocket is not useful. It's V-shaped so anything that is put in there will slide out easily. Also the drawstring will not keep heavier items in. I never used it except for very light and non-critical things like food and receipts.
I'd buy it again and it's really a sleek bag when all buttoned up. Biggest plus: It doesn't LOOK like a camera bag.

Lowepro Classified 160 AW Shoulder Bag for DSLR and 1-2 Lenses (Sepia) Review

Lowepro Classified 160 AW Shoulder Bag for DSLR and 1-2 Lenses (Sepia)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a perfect bag for carrying:
- 1 DSLR camera with 70-200mm f/2.8 (i.e. big) zoom lens attached (mine is Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 which is comparable in size and weight with Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8)
- 1-2 additional lenses and/or flash (I put 17-80mm and 50mm f/1.8 lenses and the SB-400 flash
- a couple memory cards and extra battery
It's pretty sturdy and tight (with the stabilizing strap), but that's good because the camera and lens won't move much inside the bag.
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Can fit SLR attached with the big 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (or equivalent)
2. Enough room for extra lenses and flash
3. Topload feature for easy access
4. Sturdy and good padding to protect the expensive equipment inside
5. Slim profile and more discreet design (vs some other pro camera bag)
6. Stabilizing strap to minimize movement
7. Lots of compartment for memory cards, batteries, lens cap, etc
8. Less than 3 lbs, and compact size
9. All weather cover is nice to have (and essential for professional)
10. Expandable (i.e. you can manage the divider/padding to create different size of space)
Cons:
1. Only take 1 full size SLR (I tried 2 D40s + 18-55mm and it works)
2. A bit pricey (for my amateur standard)
3. Close to 3 lbs (depend on how you see it)
4. Not a backpack model (if you prefer carrying backpack type bag when photographing)
5. Can't put your regular 15 inch laptop in this bag (however you can squeeze in the 8.9 inch netbook). If you want to add your regular notebook, you will need to get the Lowepro Classified 250 AW series
6. Might be a bit too much bag/space for a quick short trip where you don't need to bring your 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (use the Lowepro Topload Zoom series bag instead)
7. Not as easy (as I thought it would be) to pull out the camera in and out of the bag but it's reasonable (maybe it's because of the design and position of the zipper and the fact the bag is still stiff since it is new. I'm expecting it will get better as the bag will get softer/break-in with use)
In conclusion, this is a very good (and very stylish) bag if you want to carry a camera attached with the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens (or smaller lens), with 1-2 extra lens (smaller lenses than the 70-200mm f/2.8) and/or flash.

Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (MC531ZM/A) Review

Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (MC531ZM/A)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This WAS an excellent product. Now, for many of us, it's worthless. In May, I took it with my iPad to the Amazon jungle in Peru and was able to read the CF card from my Canon DSLR using a small CF card reader. It was brilliant. I could review my day's photos and decide where to shoot the next day based on whether or not I was happy with my results.
Then came the updated iOS 4.2 operating system for the iPad right at the beginning of December, and now this kit cannot read a CF card using an external reader. This is because Apple reduced the power to the port that this plugs into specifically to prevent people from plugging useful things into the USB connector. That's why I say to ignore any review before that time. Earlier reviews are talking about a product that actually works as designed. Only reviews after that tell you what it can do if you buy it now.
Still, this might work for some people, depending on your needs. Here's where you stand.
1. You only have SD cards in your cameras. You're probably fine. The SD dongle still reads most of those.
2. You have CF cards and need to read them with an external reader. You are completely out of luck unless you use a powered USB hub. At that point, you're carrying so much junk around, you may as well just take your laptop, and you must be near an electrical outlet for it to work at all.
3. You have CF cards and can attach a USB cable directly to your camera. This is a crap shoot. Some cameras work and some don't. You can either borrow a CCK from someone to see if it works with yours or you can just buy it and hope.
Some may wonder if my one-star is a little too harsh, given that this device still works in some situations. Normally, I would agree, but there's another point at work here. This isn't about a device that never had the capacity to do something you might want it to do. For that you knock it down a star or two. This is a device that worked perfectly when it was released and that the manufacturer has intentionally crippled. Both the iPad and this kit are capable of working, but Apple has removed that functionality in software. When a company breaks their own product on purpose, I think that deserves one star.

Kata KT D-3N1-11 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot Review

Kata KT D-3N1-11 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot

(More customer reviews)
Update to the previous post that the Kata 3N1-11 Sling backpack for photographers does not hold a 13" laptop, the description reads:
"The 3N1-11 sling backpack features a unique TST RIB structural protection for a DSLR with mid-range zoom lens attached as well as 1-2 lenses, flash + small netbook + personal gear."
I own this series of bags, so to be clear, in order to carry:
Apple iPad, you will need to buy the Kata 3N1-22 - Kata KT D-3N1-22 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot
MOST 13" laptops, you will need to buy the Kata 3N1-33 - Kata KT D-3N1-33 3 In 1 Sling /Backpack with Laptop Slot
Additionally, the "Internal Laptop Compartment" dimensions read:
Length = 17 cm. / 6.7 in.
Width = 4 cm. / 1.6 in.
Height = 38 cm. / 15 in.
Whether or not your laptop will fit will depend on the bulkiness of the shell of your laptop. Please read the dimension specs for your make and model compared with the Kata dimensions very carefully.
You can read the detail on the Kata website here: [...]
I rated this bag 4 stars, because I would like a bag this size to hold my iPad. Then, it would be a perfect 5 stars for me. It holds the gear I carry (Canon 7D without a battery grip attached, a Canon 50mm f/1.4, and a Canon 24-70mm f/2). Remember. It is meant to be a compact bag, so don't plan on carrying ancilliary items AND all of your lenses. However, If I just want to carry my camera gear, including a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS I, I can, but then I can only carry my keys and a small wallet by unzipping the divider that opens the internal area of the bag up to include the otherwise separate top compartment where you might carry a wallet, some nutrition bars, your keys, etc. There are still small side pockets to carry a microfiber cloth, polarizers, etc.
DISCLAIMER: I am not an employee of Kata, but I do host a technology show sponsored by Kata. I personally own and use this bag, and I can definitely confirm the information as provided in this review and on the Kata website.

I shopped around a long time online to find this Nikon lens at a good price - and look at all the extras! I was going to have to buy the UV filter and the lens cap saver after purchase so getting these and the cleaning kit was a great bonus. It arrived fast, well backed and I am enjoying my new macro lense. It is fabbo.

Kit includes: ♦ 1) Nikon 85mm f/3.5 G VR AF-S DX ED Micro-Nikkor Lens ♦ 2) Vivitar 52mm UV Filter ♦ 3) CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap ♦ 4) Precision Design Deluxe 6-Piece Lens & Digital SLR Camera Cleaning Kit
This Nikon 85mm f/3.5G ED AF-S VR Lens is a DX-formatted medium telephoto Micro lens. It is ideal for extreme close-up and general photography including portraits. The lens will autofocus from infinity to 10.8" producing a life-size (1:1) image. The lens also features Nikon's VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization. This allows handheld shooting at up to 4 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible, assuring dramatically sharper images. This lens is ideal for macro close-up work.

This Vivitar UV Filter is a multi-purpose, fine-weather filter that is designed to optimize your photography experience. UV filters block out unwanted ultraviolet light and prevents the UV "fogging/haze" effect, which can result in inaccurate color and lower the apparent sharpness. This filter is also ideal for protecting your valuable lens from scratches and dust, and it can be kept on the lens at all times.

Keep your lens cap securely attached to your lens with the convenient, simple-to-use CapKeeper. Never lose a lens cap again!

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains everything you'll ever need to properly clean your lenses, including a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.
