(More customer reviews)I purchased this battery for my Nikon D40 as a backup battery before going on a 2 week trip to Hong Kong. I ended up putting this battery in at the beginning of the trip since it was fully charged and I wanted to see how well it worked (I had my trusty Nikon EN-EL9 fully charged just in case). Absolutely no problem with it. In fact, at 1200mah, I believe it delivered in terms of slightly more power than the OEM battery at 1000mah. During the two weeks, I took slightly over 800 pictures. I took the battery out before it was fully drained because the battery indicator was coming up.
Don't worry about the fact that it's not OEM Nikon brand. At this price, it's hard to justify buying the OEM brand at 2x or 3x the cost.

(More customer reviews)I bought this battery as a spare for my new Nikon dSLR camera. On first inspection, the battery appears to be built well, and it functions well in the camera. However, right away I noticed that the capacity wasn't as large, just by monitoring the battery indicator on the camera as I was taking pictures.
Being the Electrical Enginerd that I am, as well as electric RC pilot, I happen to have a very smart LiPo charger on hand. I rigged up an adapter to test the original Nikon battery, as well as this "off brand" spare. Here are my results:
Nikon EN-EL9a
Rated Capacity: 1080 mAh
Measured Capacity: 990 mAh
Maximal Power (Power 2000?) EN-EL9
Rated Capacity: 1800 mAh (yeah right)
Measured Capcity: 675 mAh
Both batteries were measured for both charge and discharge current capacity and the two results were averaged. The Nikon battery measured pretty close to it's rated capacity, while the "Power 2000" battery came in at nearly a third of IT'S rated capacity, and approximately two thirds the capacity of the Nikon.
I am disappointed at the misleading package markings on the knock-off battery, however, considering that the battery cost less than the shipping and handling charge, I can live with it...especially since I bought it as a spare. Actually, considering how cheap it is, I think I will now use it as my primary battery and keep the Nikon as my spare, I'd rather use up the limited LiIo charge cycles on the cheap battery!
My recommendation is to buy two of these at a time, so you're only paying one shipping fee (if it works that way?). That will reduce the per-battery cost and compensate for the reduced capacity of these batteries at the same time.

(More customer reviews)The only issue that I have had so far is the fact that the battery fits loosely and falls out if turned upside down, but if you're not clumsy it's okay. Other than that it works well. The upside of that is that the battery is easy to insert as other chargers can be difficult to insert the battery. I'm very satisfied with the product, as it works as said. I would definitely recommend this product.

I use it as a backup for my primary battery and have never had any issues with it, although I have never gone through a full power cycle so can't attest to its longevity.

Zeikos ZE-NBG5000 Battery Grip for Nikon D5000 (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I just sold my Nikon D40 and purchased a Nikon D5000. This grip was specifically made for the D5000 so I bought it instead of the less expensive Opteka grip. I use a full size speed light on my camera, as well as a 70-300 lens. I have large hands, so I wanted more surface area to grab while using my camera. I am happy with this grip.
The included communication cable plugs into a data port on the side of the body of the D5000, and the other end plugs into the grip. This allows you to turn your camera on it's side and not have to contort your hand to reach the shutter release button since there is a portrait shutter release built into the grip. Since there is a cable connected, you don't have to use infra red remote mode on your camera, and the autofocus actually works on the shutter release button included on the grip (You can hold the button halfway down to focus) unlike the Opteka grip.
One thing I really like about this grip is the fact that if you really only bought it to get a better grip on your rig, and you don't need the extra battery power, you can put just one of the EL9 batteries in the left slot and the camera will function as if the battery was in the factory slot. This means you can buy just this grip, and not have to purchase a second battery if you don't want to.
The plastic on this grip is not cheap looking like a lot of the after market grips out there, but it's still not the same exact shade as the Nikon body. There is about a 1/16 inch gap between the grip and the camera body even when the mounting screw is tightened very tight, but the mount is very solid, and does not wiggle when holding the grip and shaking the unit around.
My only complaint about this grip is the communication cable. It protrudes from the side of the camera and snags on my lowpro camera bag when pulling it out of the bag (I have the holster type bag). The plug is very cheaply made, and I worry about it snapping off if I'm not careful taking it out of my bag every time. I think they could have made this cable angle into the sockets in a more form fitting manner in order to keep it from snagging on things, or made it a little more rugged.
Overall, I am very happy with this grip. It does what it was made to do, and I can take about 1700 shots at the highest setting with both batteries in.

Nikon MH-23 Quick Charger for EN-EL9 Li-ion Battery Review

(More customer reviews)This is the standard charger that Nikon sells for use with the D40's EN-EL9 battery. The title incorrectly shows it is for charging the EN-EL5. That battery will NOT work with this charger -- the contacts won't line up.
If you do need it for the EN-EL9, it works very well. I'd appreciate a shorter power cord for travel use, but it is detachable so you can switch it out.
