High quality, really rigid and firm, and it screws down tight enough.
I was a little weary ordering this since it had no reviews, but I really wanted prime shipping so I took the gamble and got a good product.
Also you can unscrew either of the hot shoes if you prefer not to use one or the other, which is handy as it turns the ugly shoe sticking out into a smooth surface with just a 3 small holes where the screws went

Looks:
Simply speaking, it enables you to have your soft box or umbrella attached to your camera and shooting hand-holding it. Do you imagine how professional that would look in weddings or birthdays or that sort of shooting if you are in the photography business. I kept seeing big smiles on people faces when seeing me with the bulky equipment and every one seems to be forward in wanting their picture taking thinking they will definitely look good in them.
Quality (photography produced):
I do have many different types of diffusers for my set of flashes, I do mainly location shooting (for web, catalogs, ceremonial occasions etc) and the alzo soft box on that bracket produces very good results unmatched by any other diffuser, particularly good for human portraits. The umbrella worked fine too, you can attach two units for your main light and move around with them, very useful in very low light places where you can direct either flash to different angle to illuminate little bit of the background.
Quality of Bracket manufacture:
Seems to be sturdy enough, I haven't had it for a long time yet to comment on its durability, but looks like it will hold for some time, specially when its not going to be used for every shot you take!
Practicality:
It's not very easy shooting while hand-holding that bulk! It's heavy and have to be hold in both hands because it will put stressful torque if hand held in one arm, and you will get tired very quickly. When putting it down, the camera will not rest naturally attached to the bracket. Tilting the camera however, is very easy to perform while shooting. Attaching the soft box or umbrella very easy and very practical. If you wish to detach the camera from the bracket to attach it to the tripod then you will have to change the attachment piece which is not very practical.
Price:
For me is very reasonable.
Overall review:
I never thought I will have a soft box attached to my camera this way, and although portable softbox can be set as easily apart from the camera and can be better controlled too, but what works for me well is the reaction of the people I shoot I don't only get big grins because of it but also good professional reputation. compare me with another guy shooting the same function with the old boring flash on top of his camera, who of the two would you like him to take your photo then?

Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal System Cloud Review

Originally, I bought the Gary Fong Lightsphere II. I read that the Gary Fong Lightsphere #1 was terrific, but alas, it fell off all the time. So I figured the Gary Fong Lightsphere II would address this problem. Silly me.
The good news is, for $10 more, the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere comes with the Gary Fong "archival" band (its a rubber band) and the Gary Fong Velcro strap. Using these two items, the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere really does stay in place. Only hitch is, the Gary Fong promotional CD that comes with the Gary Fong Universal Lightsphere doesn't explain the attachment proceedure. It does, however, give a series of Gary Fong promotional demos, featuring Gary Fong.
I figured it out pretty quickly but it was just a lucky guess. Before you even reach for your Gary Fong Lightsphere, you wrap the Gary Fong archival rubber band around the top of your flash. Make sure the side that says GaryFong.com is facing outwards. The rubber band provides enough friction so that when you tighten the Gary Fong Velcro strip, the diffuser will stay in place. You'll know the Velcro is oriented properly when you see "GaryFong.com" prominently displayed.
Otherwise, its a good, soft diffuser.

I am very happy with this flash bracket. It does exactly what it is designed to do- move the flash away from the camera, and gives a dramatic improvement to flash-lit pictures. The build quality feels sturdy, holds the camera and flash securely, and is large enough to fit "professional" DSLR bodies and DSLRs with battery grips. The velcro cable straps were a nice addition. This is my first experience with a flash bracket, so I cannot compare directly with others, but I would definitely recommend this product, especially considering the low price.

I bought this after some Internet research, so I didn't have prior experience with one. I was delighted to see how well designed and carefully machined it was when I received it. There are no stamped parts; everything is either milled or turned from aluminum alloy stock. Thus, all parts fit together well, and the product is sturdy throughout. The design is clearly very well thought out. The camera mounts on a slide for easy positioning horizontally. The flash arm attaches on a turned post and locks into place with a set screw on a handle onto a keyed flat. Registration is solid and firm. The flash arm is thick enough to be store without being bulky. It takes my SB-900 without bending. It took me a minute of study to see how to flip the camera to a vertical position, but it really is simple and easy to do once you see how the mechanism is designed. Once vertical, it is held in place with a small lever. I use a Nixon SC-29 interconnecting cable between my D90 and the flash. Ther is plenty of room for it. The flash is held firmly in place by a quarter-20 bolt on a machined wheel that pulls it down onto a rubber-coated pad on the top of the arm. It all is well thought out and manufactured. The camera slide is a bit tricky to get back onto the base after it has been removed, but eventually I saw how to do it. I used the rig with my monopole and also with my tripod. It works well. Once fully loaded with D90, SB-900, and a long lens, it is heavy, but that's just the way it is. This is a great buy.

I'm not sure what the other reviews where talking about when they said 'all metal'. Obviously the shoe mount is metal as are the screws but the main body is all hard plastic. Which isn't all bad if you're worried about weight (but probably not as durable as a metal design). The top mount works as expected (in my case I'm mounting a transceiver and then my 580EX II on top of that). What seems out of whack is the design for the umbrella holder. There is a flat spring in the hole meant to hold the umbrella steady (I can see what they were going for here, my other brackets have a simple flaw, the umbrella always either works itself loose or you put huge gouges in the umbrella shaft from cranking down on the screw to hold it in place). However, the spring just so happens to line up with the side of the spring with the umbrella is in the hole. So instead of holding the umbrella in place, the screw just tightens on the spring. Not real helpful. So in the end I did what I've had to do so many times before with this type of equipment, rig up my own solution. Essentially, to make it work, you need to get a small piece of pvc or copper pipe, (about 1/8" or less in thickness) cut it in half, then cut a portion of that off to fit into gap in the hole for the umbrella. That pushes the umbrella shaft up higher into the spring and allows the screw to engage correctly and tighten everything down. If only the 'engineer' that designed this had tested it before they started shipping it. I guess for $10 that's about what you'd expect.
