I used to straddle the neck strap on my camera "sniper style" to give me a steady shot (which was really efficient). After buying this grip, I got an even more steady aim. The neck strap can work in conjunction with this grip (I chose to remove the neck strap off my D80 permanently). I think another major plus of this grip is that it really aids with portrait/vertical shots. Your camera is practically attached to your right hand firmly. It's probably not for everyone, but it sure has given me better steady aim than I used to have with just the neck strap.

(More customer reviews)Hakuba has created a GREAT product! It attaches to one of the strap loops on the right side of your SLR-type camera and screws into the tripod hole on the bottom. The grip is comfortable, especially for long shoots, and it allows a sense of confidence that you'll never drop your camera. You can actually relax your finger grip on the camera and the Hakuba keeps it in your hand without falling. Shooting one-handed is possible, but it's best for being always able to hold the camera easily when doing walk-around shooting. I hate shooting without it now. Highly recommended.

OP/TECH USA 6701242 Grip Strap, Neoprene Grip-Style Camera Strap (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I decided to buy an Op/Tech Grip Strap because it looks to be a similar design to Nikon's AH-4 but because it's made out of neoprene I thought it might be better for a whole day. I also own Op/Tech's Pro neck strap and that is a great neck strap that I highly recommend.
However, the Op Tech Grip Strap is horrible , it provides no support whatsoever and I felt as if my D700 was going to fall off my hand constantly. So the Grip Strap becomes a wetsuit for the Barbie's! I ended up purchasing the Nikon AH-4 and while it is a bit expensive it is worth it, the strap fits so nicely around my hand and offers better support than the Canon E1's I used to own, though they did a great job of support as well.
If you're looking for a good hand strap for your dSLR, then I would advise against the grip strap from Op/Tech. The Nikon AH-4 or Canon E1 are both much better designs and offer the support necessary.

My first purchase was of the "Camera Carrying System" and was so happy with it that I got the "Lens Carrying Bag". I, very briefly, considered taking off one star due to the cost of the hand strap, but, hey, in this instance you do get what you pay for. All Cotton Carrier equipment is made well and perfectly engineered for the purpose intended. The "Hand Strap" is no exception. It's easy to install, made of quality material and works better than I expected. This company has obviously given considerable thought and planning with regard to quality and I truly couldn't be more pleased with how everything works and how photography, in the field, has become more pleasurable.

I do agree with the previous reviewer that some instructions would be appreciated but I figured it out in the end and was very happy. It is a well made item made of leather that doesn't feel cheap at all.

(More customer reviews)This neoprene wrist strap is comfortably wide, can be cinched to your hand with the included buckle-like device, and is not so long that your camera will dangle far from your wrist when you let go of it.
My only concern is the plastic clip that attaches the neoprene wrist strap to the lanyard portion secured to the camera. It looks sturdy enough, and hasn't given any indication that it's going to come loose, but given how easy it is to get your hand into and out of the wrist strap, it seems like the inclusion of this clip doesn't add enough value to the product to justify the loss of peace of mind.
If you were going to be switching between a neck strap and this wrist strap, the plastic clip would probably make that process quick and easy, but if, like me, you're only interested in securing your camera with a wrist strap, the clip feels unnecessary.

Quick Neck Shoulder Strap for Canon Nikon Sony Camera Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this shoulder strap for one week. I love a shoulder strap so much better than a neck strap. Its so much more comfortable. The only problem with this shoulder strap is the clip that attaches to the camera is chinsey. it broke while I stood in my driveway and my camera (d700) and the brand new lens (Nikon 24-70mm 2.8) went crashing to the concrete. Luckily, it landed on the edge of the lens protection filter, which was the only thing that broke. I immediately bought some new hardware to repair the broken part. I was very disappointed that for how much this strap costs that they didn't use better hardware. THE CLIP IN THE PICTURE IS NOT WHAT I GOT.

(More customer reviews)I ended up trying three different camera straps for my Canon 20D (and now 40D) before settling on one. The grip I'm reviewing here got sold with my old 20D because it didn't work for me - I didn't really feel any more secure using this grip than without one at all since it only wraps around in one direction. The second grip I bought from Sammy's camera and the tripod screw mount fell out of it almost destroying my camera (bad design - it was just glued in!).
If you have a Canon or Nikon SLR, I'd highly recommend the Nikon brand strap - even though it's made by Nikon, it still fits Canon cameras. It's much more adjustable, and I feel that my Camera is secure when I'm using it. Nikon makes a good quality product which is more than I can say for the other two grips I tried.

(More customer reviews)Just got this hand strap and not bad for what I paid for. For $10 you can't expect the best part of the cow but at least you get the back end, which is not bad at all.. LOL Over all this is a great strap and works well with the shoulder strap too. I thought I would have to get rid of the shoulder strap or swap it when I need it. No need because they put and extra metal loop at the top so it all looks like 1 piece. The only thing I don't like about this thing is, the instructions. Very few word instructions and maybe 3 pictures to show you how to put it together. Got to tell ya, took me about 1/2 hr to figure it out. I logged back into Amazon to see if there were any info on how to put it together and nothing. But if you look at the pic they have you will figure it out. It was very simple to put together if I started off with the Amazon pic and not the box instructions. I looked around for other straps and they cost a lot lot more. This is for sure a great strap and a great price. Oh, when you screw it in at the bottom of the cam it won't leave you without a hole to put your tripod up. It comes with a metal hole so you won't have to remove the strap to use the tripod. Again, can't say it enough, this is a great strap. Down the road if it breaks in less than a year then I'll rewrite this. Thanks for reading this review..

(More customer reviews)This device is an absolute must-have for any photographer. It allows your hand to completely relax while your hand is at your side, yet still grip the camera with no stress. I use it on my Canon 40D with a large L series lens and it's comfortable enough to carry the camera without a shoulder strap for several hours without tiring. I would never use a professional camera without one of these wrist straps. It's very secure and prevents accidentally dropping the camera while at the same time easing the amount of force necessary to hold or steady the camera.
The strap attaches to the right shoulder strap loop on your camera, and has an attachment that screws into the tripod mount on the underside of the camera. Even with the wrist strap connected, there is an additional loop provided so that you can also attach a shoulder strap if desired, though I've never used this feature.
Unlike Canon's wrist strap, this unit can be used without the battery pack. A friend recently dropped her camera and did severe damage to it as she wasn't using one of these wrist straps. It's a very inexpensive bit of comfort and insurance that you'll come to love.
