Until you use a 50 dollar optic from china, you wont know how to appreciate high quality scopes such as this. The clarity is outstanding...you really notice when there's a limited amount of light because it is indeed, brighter when peering through the scope. I love it, and I'm sure you will too.

The Leupold VX-1 riflescope is, simply put, the best scope in its class. No other riflescope gives you the same combination of performance and features--which now include Leupold's Ballistics Aiming System among many others--for such an affordable price. This particular version of the VX-I boasts a 40mm objective lens and a magnification range of 4x to 12x, making it easy to bring your subject into view. The scope also offers a standard multicoat lens system that delivers exceptional brightness, clarity, and contrast, so you can see objects clearly even in low-light conditions. And hunters have their choice of reticles. The LR Duplex reticle is the default option, and offers proper holdover points for your rifle's ballistics profile, allowing you to consistently make accurate, ethical long-range shots. However, the scope is also available with the Duplex and the Wide Duplex reticles.
Put all the features together and you have a high-quality riflescope that's accurate, affordable, and long lasting. Other details include micro-friction windage and elevation adjustment dials marked in 1/4-MOA increments; Leupold's classic lockable eyepiece; a rugged waterproof housing; and a durable Leupold scope cover that's designed to protect your VX-I during transport or when not in use. The scope, which comes in a matte black finish, carries Leupold's full lifetime guarantee.

Equipped with a patented BDC reticle that allows hunters to hold "dead on" at long ranges, the Monarch 2.5-10x42 riflescope sets the standard for mid-sized scope performance. The scope offers such features as a rugged one-piece, 1-inch main body tube; a creative Eyebox design with a huge ocular that provides a 4x magnification range and 4 inches of constant eye relief without sacrificing the field of view; an ultra ClearCoat system for 95 percent light transmission; and fully multicoated, super-high-performance lenses. After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. The BDC reticle, meanwhile, is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.
In addition, the riflescope is prepared for years of reliable service thanks to its 100-percent waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof housing. The scope is O-ring sealed, oxygen purged, and nitrogen filled to prevent fogging, while the waterproof performance is guaranteed, even with the windage and elevation caps off. Other details include a quick focus eyepiece; enhanced ring spacing that allows you to mount the scope on virtually any rifle; a unique zoom control with rearward facing numbers; hand reticle adjustments with Nikon's interchangeable turret technology; and sunshade adaptability.

Great scope!! Optics are very clear. the only way this scope could be any better is if it went from 4-16 power instead of 3-12. But the reticle is dead on if your bullet is going the right muzzel velocity. Fun scope to shoot with, makes it very easy to adjust for the wind and there is no guess work with this scope if your distance is known. I would recommend this scope to everyone!!

Recognizing the popularity of AR rifles, Nikon has developed a new line of riflescopes built to deliver extreme speed, accuracy and shooting confidence. The M-223 line offers five new riflescopes, all engineered for the 223 Rem./5.56mm NATO round with 55-grain polymer tipped bullet with a muzzle velocity of 3240fps. With Nikon's latest reticle and adjustment technologies, the M-223 integrates the same level of quality as the flagship Monarch riflescopes. "The recent surge in AR-type rifle purchases means there is a new group of customers out there learning just how much fun owning an AR is," said Jon LaCorte, senior product marketing manager Nikon Sport Optics. "We've built the M-223 family to help them enjoy and use their rifles no matter if it's for competition, varmint or predator hunting or just plinking fun."All of the new M-223 riflescopes feature Nikon's famous fully multicoated optics, up to 95% light transmission, waterproof/fogproof/shockproof performance and lifetime warranty. Designed for AR carbines and popular 3 gun competitions, the 1-4x20 with Point Blank reticle features an extremely large exit pupil for low light performance and a super wide field of view. The all-new Point Blank reticle technology means incredibly accurate and fast shooting from zero to 200 yards thanks to thick reticle posts and purpose-designed 3-MOA center dot for instant targeting on paper or steel plates. The 2-8x32 is available with Nikon's all new BDC 600 reticle or the Nikoplex reticle with Nikon's new Rapid Action Turret system; both are ballistically matched to the 223 Rem. round and offer unprecedented speed in dialing in your shots for virtually any known distance-from 0 to 600 yards.

Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 Riflescope (Matte, BDC) Review

Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 Riflescope (Matte, BDC)

I needed a good hunting rifle scope for my 30-06 that I was taking on a mule deer hunt in Wyoming. Replaced a 4x Leopold. After a lot of research on line and in stores, decided on this Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Only wanted to spend about $150, but wanted the best scope that $150 could buy. The BDC (bullet drop compensator) was a bonus. Saved about $20 buying on Amazon.com with free delivery and no sales tax. What a difference it makes to have a good quality rifle scope to go along with my Nikon Monarch binoculars. Amazon.com is my favorite on-line store. Good selection, good service, easy returns, good quality and almost always free and quick delivery.

Nikon ProStaff riflescopes accommodate most hunting styles, with enough power for long-range shots and a wide field of view for thick brush and timber. The 3-9x40 riflescope is designed for centerfire rifle hunting of big game and varmints.
The scope features a multicoated lens system for up to 90% light transmission, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and precise 1/4 MOA reticle adjustments. The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.
The scope's high-performance lenses, meanwhile, are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast to pull game out of its surroundings, deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. Plus, the ProStaff scope is ready for years of reliable service thanks to its 100% water- and fog-proof housing. O-ring sealing and nitrogen filling ensure moisture never penetrates the interior.
