This is a solid and expensive solution to buying a weaver rail for your 700. I mounted a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 with Burris Zee rings on it and i have not lost zero without me purposely remounted the scope. I say save money on the rail and buy better rings (like the Zee rings).

The scope is an excellent product. The optics are as clear as a scope that cost three times as much. I've been using NcStar products for nearly two years now for various sporting arms. They are not on the same scale as Leopold, or Steiner, but they are far below in price.
The light gathering is excellent with the 30mm tube. Twilight shooting is well within the capabilities of this scope. In addition, the rings, tools and an extra battery, came as part of the package.
They are equal to or better than anything currently made by Bushnell, Tasco, Weaver, or Simmons. Their optics are nearly on par with Nikon.
So you do get a good value for your money.

This mount fit my AR flat tops perfect. It has the right amount of forward and height placement. It also clears my rather large fold down rear sight. SOLID lock up on the receiver rail. Holds zero from removal to reinstall. I shoot 6.8spc. This mount plus a 3-9x40 scope adds weight but it's not unmanageable. Well worth the money.

AR15 QR Weaver Mount/ Cantilever Scope Mount Rear Ring/30mm and 1" Inserts Review

AR15 QR Weaver Mount/ Cantilever Scope Mount Rear Ring/30mm and 1 Inserts
Average Reviews:

I used this to mount UTG Bug Buster 3-9X32 Compact CQB Combat AO Scope on a flat top AR. The 2 worked well together. Mount puts scope at a good height. I can look threw scope with my front sight not being in the way. Everything locked up very tight and feels sturdy. I like the way the mount looks. The finish isn't perfect, somewhat uneven, but ARs aren't really pretty guns so I didn't care.
The mount came without any instructions but it wasn't very hard to figure out. When I was adjusting and tightening the screw which sets how tight the lever locks the mount the head of the screw started to get deformed and seemed a little soft. This didn't cause a problem and I just guess I should have been gentler. Release lever does work good and although the unit wasn't perfect comparable mounts coast over $100 so I am happy with it.

Tactedge 4X32 Mini CQB TS Mil-Dot Scope Review

Tactedge 4X32 Mini CQB TS Mil-Dot Scope
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Mounted on an RRA AR-15.
I purchased the "Tactedge 4x32 Mini CQB TS Mil-Dot Scope" mainly for kicks, thinking it would hold me over until I receive my Nikon Prostaff. It arrived fast, I opened it and noticed that it was pretty decent quality right off the bat. The fit and finish is good, the pop up lens-cover is nice, the extra battery (2 in total) is nice, the lens cleaning cloth is a joke (rough pool table cloth), and the optics are crisp and are quite decent on the stock setting. The light gathering does well, nothing super astonishing, but good none the less. It will work for any daytime shooting and even shooting into the early evening if you have good eyes.
Now for the cons.
1) This probably doesn't come as a shock to anyone, but this is not "CQB"... if you think you can use this for fast acquisition and clear a room of targets, think again. It has a permanent magnification and you need a full second to align your eye with the reticle. Not close quarters and definitely not fast acquisition.
2) The eye relief spec on this advertisement says "3.5 inches"... lies, all lies. 2" at best, and even that is stretching it. Why does this matter?.. because that fact such a low amount of eye-relief, your eye has to be within 2" of the end... And to mount this on an average rifle (AR or not), you have to mount it far to the rear (FAR to the rear). Think of it... the scope is 7-1/2" long, the rear mounting ring is somewhere around 1-1/2" from the rear... add 2" for eye relief... and you get a very awkward and uncomfortable recipe.
Speaking in numbers, your mounting rail has to extend to within (roughly) 3 and 1/2 inches of your eye for this scope to work comfortably.
3) Again, this is a fixed magnification scope. No real adjustments.
Long story short, it looks real funny on an AR-15. It's extended so far to the back that it hangs over some of my collapsible stock, and without a doubt you won't be using that charging-handle without reaching under the eyepiece. Being a "mini" scope, the front of the scope doesn't even really clear the forward end of the Upper Receiver (being mounted where it is, comfortably). At best, it may sit flush with the front of the Receiver.
Also, these are low profile rings. Anyone with a flat-top and a fixed A2 front sight will have to get a riser. The magnification does not "see through" the post. Infact, while looking through the scope without a riser, you can see the normal image but it's somewhat fuzzy and dark'ish. So before you blame the optic on being cloudy, use a riser. Oddly enough, using a riser makes it look even funnier.
In closing, FWIW I use my AR-15 with stock fully extended, so this may compound the prob. For less than half a bill, this is still a steal. Structurally sound enough for .223, but for anyone who cares about practicality (charging handle accessibility, eye relief, not altering your usual head placement by extending your neck) and the overall look of your rifle, I'd stick with either a traditional scope for magnification, or a Bushnell Tactical Elite type of optic for quick acquisition. Why recommend an ACOG knockoff? Lets face it, if you're reading this review and considering this product, you probably don't have a grand to burn on a Trijicon.
Good scope, built well enough to withstand .223 or below, but impractical on a real AR due to eye relief and subsequent mounting "workarounds".
----------
Edited on 2/1/2010
I was going to return this item, but instead I mounted it on a Sig 522 and it works great. For those who don't know, the Sig 522 is one of the newest .22 cal assault rifle (semi-auto). While I am confident this scope could handle .223 just fine, the below is my final conclusion on why this scope works on the Sig 522, and not the AR-15.
AR-15 deal breakers:
1) Charging handle accessibility is horrible.
2) Mounting rail does not extend back far enough on a flat-top.
3) Riser needed if you have A2 front post sights.
Sig 522 pros:
1) Charging handle on the side of the rifle, no issues like an AR-15.
2) Mounting rail extends slightly further back than a flat-top AR-15.
3) Sig 522 has no front post, no riser needed for a clear view.
In addition, this is a sharp looking scope when mounted on the right rifle. Brings the already aggressive look of a Sig 522 up a notch.

Nikon 1x30mm Monarch Red Dot Sight With Matte Finish Md: 8430. Review

Nikon 1x30mm Monarch Red Dot Sight With Matte Finish Md: 8430.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've worked my way through a stack of dot sights, and that's pretty much where they are --- in a "pile" in my closet. I haven't subjected them to anything unreasonable. No mud. No combat. No sand. No major calibers. All I asked for was repeatable zero, manual (no-tool) adjustment, and crispness.
Got it. My Nikon has been on a Ruger MK III for a couple of years, now. Every once in awhile I switch barrels --- once the sight is mounted using a quarter and bench-rested, the dot stays where the hole goes.
I generally shoot at 50 feet. With this sight, bench-rested, and a box of Lapua Midas you can essentially make a dime-sized hole. I have a suspicion it would do the same thing at 50 yards. Obviously, the hole changes (a teensy bit) off-hand, but at least I know --- know --- that anything outside the 10 is my fault.
The sight appears a little bulky, at first, but it's actually extremely light. Turret caps come off to reveal marked, zero-able, coined target knobs that click snugly. Mine goes back to zero if I switch distances. Nice brightness range, and the dot adjusts from a needle-prick up to a baseball.
This sight will probably improve your score, but not your shooting. For that you'll have to take the Monarch off every now and then and go back to open sights. Then ... you put it back on.
Why four stars? Almost nothing is a five.

Great scope!! Optics are very clear. the only way this scope could be any better is if it went from 4-16 power instead of 3-12. But the reticle is dead on if your bullet is going the right muzzel velocity. Fun scope to shoot with, makes it very easy to adjust for the wind and there is no guess work with this scope if your distance is known. I would recommend this scope to everyone!!

Recognizing the popularity of AR rifles, Nikon has developed a new line of riflescopes built to deliver extreme speed, accuracy and shooting confidence. The M-223 line offers five new riflescopes, all engineered for the 223 Rem./5.56mm NATO round with 55-grain polymer tipped bullet with a muzzle velocity of 3240fps. With Nikon's latest reticle and adjustment technologies, the M-223 integrates the same level of quality as the flagship Monarch riflescopes. "The recent surge in AR-type rifle purchases means there is a new group of customers out there learning just how much fun owning an AR is," said Jon LaCorte, senior product marketing manager Nikon Sport Optics. "We've built the M-223 family to help them enjoy and use their rifles no matter if it's for competition, varmint or predator hunting or just plinking fun."All of the new M-223 riflescopes feature Nikon's famous fully multicoated optics, up to 95% light transmission, waterproof/fogproof/shockproof performance and lifetime warranty. Designed for AR carbines and popular 3 gun competitions, the 1-4x20 with Point Blank reticle features an extremely large exit pupil for low light performance and a super wide field of view. The all-new Point Blank reticle technology means incredibly accurate and fast shooting from zero to 200 yards thanks to thick reticle posts and purpose-designed 3-MOA center dot for instant targeting on paper or steel plates. The 2-8x32 is available with Nikon's all new BDC 600 reticle or the Nikoplex reticle with Nikon's new Rapid Action Turret system; both are ballistically matched to the 223 Rem. round and offer unprecedented speed in dialing in your shots for virtually any known distance-from 0 to 600 yards.

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 Riflescope Review

This scope is awesome. I was bore sighting it at dusk and was aiming at the top of a fence post about 100 yards away. It was getting hard to see it with my eyes because of light was low, but the scope seemed to double the amount of available light. My dad is a hard core Leopold guy, but after seeing this, he thinks this is the best scope he has ever seen. I would have to agree.
Now the bad news, I found this scope on Ebay for much cheaper than what Amazon was offering. I had some Amazon gift certificates I had to use so I opted to pay more, but if you are looking into this scope, check ebay first as it has much better pricing. (Unless you can get the Amazon vendor to match an Ebay price).

One of the world's best-known optics companies, Nikon Sport Optics, has teamed with one of the nation's most respected sporting organizations, Buckmasters, to produce a riflescope line featuring high-quality optics.
Built to withstand the toughest hunting conditions, these scopes integrate shock-, fog-, and water-proof construction, as well as numerous other features rarely found on riflescopes in this price range. Nikon's Brightvue anti-reflective system of multicoated lenses provides over 92% anti-reflection capability for the high levels of light transmission and optical clarity necessary for dawn-to-dusk big game hunting. After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast to pull game out of its surroundings, deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality.
The brightest in its class, the Nikon Buckmasters riflescope has a proven track record of reliability, durability, and precision, making it a true hunter's workhorse. The scope is at home on nearly any hunting rifle, muzzle loader, or even rimfire, boasting a rugged, one-inch main body tube, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and ultra-high-performance lenses.
The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target

NIKON M-223 743 AR Mount (Black) Review

NIKON M-223 743 AR Mount (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The M-16/AR-15 was designed with a carrying handle. Now that optics are tough enough for the battlefield, the handle is out and optics are in. Nikon has designed a family of scopes that are tailored to the AR platform and the 55 gr. 223 round. The scope is fantastic and so is the rifle, but when I mounted the scope with regular rings, I was not able to get enough eye relief with this scope, or any other similar scope. The Nikon M-223 mount was designed to solve this problem, and it does. It moves the scope forward on the rifle enough to provide excellent eye relief. To make things even better, it has 20 MOA of elevation correction built it so that I don't run out of elevation "clicks" at longer ranges. Finally, it is solid as a rock, repeatable and great looking. I am totally satisfied and give this mount my highest recommendation.

"We've built the M-223 family to help them enjoy and use their rifles no matter if it's for competition, varmint or predator hunting or just plinking fun." All of the new M-223 riflescopes feature Nikon's famous fully multicoated optics, up to 95% light transmission, waterproof/fogproof/shockproof performance and lifetime warranty.
