(More customer reviews)I'm useing this card in a Canon 40d which bursts at 6.5 frames a second. Shot 142 pix (jpg) before I stopped shooting. I'm not sure how many frames past that it would have gone before slowing down or stopping to await the transfer from the camera buffer to the card. Fast downloads to the computer as well.
Highly recommend this cards if you need to shoot in the 'burst' speed mode. If you don't shoot a lot of action in busts mode, save your $$$ and get the Extreme III card. Also highly recommended

(More customer reviews)First I must start by saying that I use this memory card (Lexar Professional UDMA 2GB (300x Speed)) with my Nikon D300. They are a perfect compliment and the card does perform well with an impressive write speed. This speed is limited by the camera's memory buffer, in which I can get approximately 20-30 consecutive shots at 6 frames per second before the camera has to pause. This speed is for the top quality JPEG files from the D300's 12.3 megapixel sensor (about 5-7MB each). Also, something worth mentioning for those who have an Epson P-3000 or newer Photo/Media Storage device, is that the Lexar Professional UDMA compact flash card IS compatible with this device. I say this because I actually called Epson prior to buying the Lexar UDMA card to inquire about compatibility since it is not mentioned. "Experts" in the technical serivce department at Epson actually said they did not think the P-3000 (model I own) would be compatible with UDMA cards. Well from my experience, all 3 of my Lexar Professional UDMA compact flash cards (2 of the 4GB, and 1 of the 2GB)work with the Epson P-3000. I highly recommend this line of fast memory cards to anyone! Hope this helps

(More customer reviews)I bought the Lexar 8 GB UDMA card to use in a Canon 5D Mark II, which writes very large (20MB) files when you shoot in RAW mode (which I do). The place where I see an advantage is in downloading these large files to my computer.
Mated to a UDMA card reader, the card transfers about 72 files a minute or a bit better than one per second. My old SanDisk Extreme III card in a non-UDMA-enabled reader takes about 3-4 times longer. And of course if you have a camera that writes large files, 8GB gives you some headroom when you're out taking large number of photos -- it can take about 240 RAW images on my camera.
There's also an advantage to a high speed card like this if you shoot continuously with this type of camera, since files will be written more quickly with a fast card. If you have a UDMA-enabled camera and shoot often in continuous mode, this may be a worthwhile purchase for you. If you have a need for lots of capacity with any camera and you have or buy a UDMA-enabled card reader, this card will speed up file transfer very significantly. In my experience Lexar makes very reliable cards that do not have compatibility issues with major brands of digital SLRs.

(More customer reviews)My friend wanted a UDMA memory card for his new Nikon D700 so I ordered the Sandisk Extreme using Amazon Prime. The card came very quickly, and a few thousand shots later, we're both very impressed.
Sandisk gives this card a 60MB/s rating (400x) and markets it towards DSLR users, primarily because they are the ones who will most likely be able to enjoy the advantages and notice the speed difference. Compared to my old generic 133x (20 MB/s) non-UDMA memory card, the improvements ranged from barely noticeable to fantastically faster.
The D700 has a large buffer so even when using a slowish card, the camera is equally responsive when taking single shots and non-RAW bursts. The differences become obvious when using continuous drive and flushing the buffer. Compared to the generic 133x card, the Sandisk Extreme shot faster, longer and was able to flush the buffer almost twice as fast.
In order to enjoy the advantages of UDMA memory cards, you first need a camera that supports it. To get the files out of the memory card faster, you'd also want to pair the card with a memory card reader than can keep up. While USB 2.0 has a theoretical peak maximum transfer rate of 60 MB/s, the practical rate of most USB card readers is 20MB/s or less. In fact, using my generic USB card reader, I couldn't tell the difference between copying/moving files between the Sandisk Extreme and my 133x. (I wouldn't bother with UDMA USB 2.0 Card readers either since they're not significantly faster) Personally, I'd go for a firewire-based reader like this: Lexar Compact Flash Firewire Reader or maybe an ExpressCard reader. Various reviews show that the Lexar firewire reader is 2-3x faster than a USB card reader.
ADDED 10/19/2010: USB 3.0 is also a fantastic option!
Keep in mind that this is not the only UDMA card that Sandisk makes. The Extreme IV's and Extreme III's 30 MB/s and faster are also UDMA enabled. (Extreme III 20 MB/s is not) Generally speaking, if a CF card is rated at 30 MB/s or faster, it supports UDMA.
If you need a new CF memory card and your camera supports UDMA, there's no reason not to pick one of these up. (Other than they're still a bit pricey) You'll have the best possible shooting experience with no drawbacks. Also, even if you don't opt to get the fast card reader, the USB readers will still work.

(More customer reviews)So far I've been happy with the performance of this Sandisk product. I've used Sandisk memory for some time now in my Canon SLRs and have never had any trouble with any of their cards. They do cost more but I feel it's worth it to have dependable CF cards. As far as performance, the Extreme cards are excellent. Until the buffer fills, my Canon 7D shoots about the same number of burst shots with the Extreme (60 MB/sec) as with my older Extreme III (about 20 RAW (18 MP) images at 8+ fps). However, after the buffer fills, there's a huge difference between the two cards. With the Extreme III, the camera chokes very quickly and takes much longer to finish writing the data. With the Extreme, I can continue shooting about 2 fps for several seconds.
