(More customer reviews)This is a great tool for those shots where you want to get down low. Macro work and landscape/waterscape shots near the ground are so much easier with the angle finder on than without. I have also used it when doing portrait work to get a more flattering angle without having to kneel or stoop over the whole time.
Now for the negative. It fogs up much easier than the normal eyepiece, which makes seeing anything a challenge under some conditions. And the big one for me, especially with macro work, you loose some light when using the angle finder. So if you are already working in a low-light situation, this only makes matters worse.
But in well-lit conditions where fogging is not an issue and you want to shoot low, this is an amazing accessory, thus the 4 out of 5 stars.

(More customer reviews)For the price, you can't beat this combination of add-on optics to get as close to a subject as you would want to (unless you have a microscope handy). Although used infrequently, when you see something that deserves a really close inspection through your camera's lens, this will do the job without distortion. However, unless you have a really steady hand or fast lens, I would suggest using a tripod for optimum results.

(More customer reviews)I ended up with these when trying to purchase a different filter set that was within about $11, $12. Without any photo examples at the time I was looking at the product page, I was unsure what to expect.
First off, I doubt the filters are multi coated (they reflect white light when looked at. Green would be multi-coated.) But a good multi-coated filter would probably cost more.
The black paint looks like it will flake off eventually.
Those shortcomings aside I found the quality to be surprisingly sharp. I plan to post a few test photos to show off what these filters are capable of. I can get sharp enough to see the wing scale texture on butterflies and the pollen on flowers. CA distortion and fringing is to be expected. At +10 the fuzziness was really bad with the lens F stop at 1.8 to about 4. Setting it to F8 or slightly higher appears to greatly sharpen and improve the overall effect of the filters, especially the +4 and +10. I have not yet tried to layer the filters to increase magnification, but I'd expect the quality to drop when adding more glass in front of the lens.
I have at times combined one of these filters with an extension tube and found the effect to be pretty good, though it does narrow the depth of field and make getting a perfectly focused image a bit more challenging.
Are these better than extension tubes or a macro lens? Most likely not, but in a pinch or a limited budget, these may do pretty well.

(More customer reviews)I was impressed with the quality of the glass and the overall clarity of the magnified images produced by these lenses. At the very highest magnification, of course, it was difficult to get a good focus and nearly impossible to eliminate motion blur without some sort of fixed mount for the camera, but that's to be expected. With a good tripod and a bit of patience, however, these lenses produce some absolutely awesome magnified images -- there's nothing like being able to count the hairs on a butterfly's head. If you're into macro photography or you'd like to try it, these lenses are recommended for everyone from the beginner to the pro.
