Lowepro Pro Runner x450 AW DSLR Backpack (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I have had many good Lowepro camera bags over the years and was looking forward to a rolling bag that would save my need to add a luggage cart to my large backpack going through airports. This roller surprised me with how heavy the bag was empty, right out of the shipping box. Nonetheless, I decided to give it its due and transfer my equipment from my Lowepro backpack into this roller, and was immediately frustrated by the lack of nooks and crannies built into the roller. The backpack actually has more room and more innovative ways of storage than this overweight, under thought through cousin. There are so many design flaws that after a couple of days of dragging it around the house to see if I was being too finicky, I happily reloaded my backpack, and returned this overpriced, overweight, overnight bag. Sorry Lowepro, you need to rework this one completely. On a separate note, something I thought Lowepro would have figured out in this newer than my backpack model, Lowepro - the two little "pockets" are too small for actually holding my stash of digital media cards. A photographer carries more than two, and Nikon uses larger media than you have accounted for.

(More customer reviews)QUICK SUMMARY: See my video review! Excellent, professional-grade photographer's DSLR travel bag is rugged and tricked-out to the max. Aside from it's rather heavy weight and high cost, there's not much to dislike. Recommended!
WHAT I LIKED:
- Tricked-out to stow lots of camera accessories, including even a nice 15" laptop sleeve (which I didn't show off in my video review) and pouch
- Shoulder harness permits toting photographic equipment wherever wheels won't roll
- Weatherproofed so expensive equipment won't likely get water damaged, even in a downpour
- Versatile and customizeable to fit your unique travel needs
WHAT I DISLIKED:
- It's heavy enough that, once fully loaded, it would be difficult to stow this bag in an airplane overhead bin
- The tightness of the zippers can make it difficult to zip/unzip around the bag's corners
- I disliked the spring-loaded, extensible handle which I fear will spring out of the bag unexpectedly
CONCLUSION:
I'm not a professional (or even semi-professional) photographer, but if I were, this travel case would be a terrific investment to safely stow and move my equipment to various shooting locations. But it won't replace a very lightweight, compact camera case that you'll also need and want.

SanDisk 8 GB Class 2 SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDB-8192 (Bulk Packaging) Review

(More customer reviews)Please note that this is a Class 2 card (Class 6 is the current "top of the line"). Class 2 transfers two mega-thingies per second rather than the six mega-thingies per second for Class 6 cards.
This transfer rate is fine for most devices, but takes 3 times as long to copy files back and forth from your computer.
Please also note that older card readers are not able to handle SDHC (HC stands for "High Capacity"). Some card readers are good for only 1 GB, some go up to 2 GB or 4 GB, but only the latest generations are capable of 8 GB.
Lastly, if you are using Windows XP, you may need to either add Service Pack 3 or add a patch before the high capacity card can be recognized by your system.
I recommend adding the patch rather than SP3. Some things haven't been working quite right since I installed the latest service pack from Microsoft - you may not wish to take that chance...
