(More customer reviews)I'm unsure if the camouflage makes any difference to the wildlife. I'm discovering birds and most wildlife are indifferent to me as long as I'm non-threatening and approach slowly and indirectly. So, you could save a little money and get the standard black version.
It really does help protect your equipment and I wouldn't go outdoors with this lens without it on. It's also acts as an insulator in the winter making the lens not so shockingly cold to carry.
