The Sigma 300 F2.8 lens for Sony/Minolta is a great lens for the price. I could not afford The Sony/Minolta equivalent as it was over twice the price. The color, contrast and resolution of this lens is excellent and works great with 1.4 and 2.0 Sigma teleconverters. It also works great with the in-camera image stabilization on the Sony DSLR cameras.

A versatile, fast aperture telephoto lens for both digital and film SLR cameras. Two ELD glass elements reduce chromatic aberration to a minimum and also ensure sharp, quality images of high contrast. The new multi layer lens coating reduces flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital SLR cameras. The overall length of the lens does not changeduring focusing, ensuring convenient handling and ease of use.The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) models provide fast, silent AF function as well as full- time manual focus override. A drop-in 46mm filter holder in the rear part of the lens barrel can be rotated to facilitate the use of filters, including a polarizing filter,Simply adding an APO teleconverter (optional extra), means that this lens can be used as a 420..m ..4 AF ultra-telephoto lens with a 1.4X EX teleconverter, or a 600mm F5.6 AF ultra-telephoto lens with a 2X teleconverter.

I've got a great bag that carries all my camera gear, but sometimes I just wanted something small that would hold just the basics.... I've found it after tossing many other similar bags! This bag is handy, protects my gear, is durable, attractive and worth every dime. FYI the strap is not pictured and it is very nice as well. This bag will hold most camera bodies and small to medium lens. This would also work if you are using a high end point and shoot (i.e. panasonic lumix fz28) Ease of use for quickly grabbing my camera with minimum fuss is so appreciated. I do recommend this bag.

I purchased this lens coat as a backup for the SLR camera body only system. I like the way this fits around the lens and the body. It's a little too snug at first as you have to streatch it to fit the first few times . After being on the camera for awhile it's a perfect fit.

Tiffen 67mm Hot Mirror Filter Review

Tiffen 67mm Hot Mirror Filter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own the 52mm version of this kit, and found it a shame to see this kit only received one star. Below is my review I wrote about the 52mm kit, I have recommended this kit (in several different sizes) to fellow photographers, they all have been very happy with their purchases, baring in mind Tiffen's quality control problems.
This is one of the best bargains that i've seen, "essentially" you get 3 filters for the price of one. The image quality with these filters is great, the 812 (warming) filter is by far a favorite giving back the color richness that flash photography so often washes out, that is unless you have the patience for constantly tweaking your flash power. Aside from the 812 the UV protector is basically a clear protective filter. While it obviously has advantages over clear glass, I tend not to think of it as any different. This too is a great filter which I use about half the time because it doesn't affect color hues or change f stop values too greatly while it takes the worry out of carrying the camera around ready for any candid shots that may occur. Finally included is the circular polarizer. This filter adjusts the amount of uv light entering the camera by spinning the filter to the direction the uv rays are entering (or turning the thingy till things look better). This lens is great for sunny days and will take surface glare off lakes and glass making them transparent again. It also makes colors more crisp in general when photographing buildings and other large "reflective" man-made things. So things sound great so far, but now to why I only give this item 4 stars. While Tiffen is known to be one of the best at photo and video filters, they have quality control issues that do no live up to thier reputation. In my case the 812 filter arrived with a discoloration in the glass. While it was didn't hurt image quality, with the flaw being towards the edge of the filter, I none the less didn't want to find a situation in which the flaw would diminish quality. Seeing as it was not amazon's fault my first e-mail went to Tiffen for a replacement which they said they would gladly do, but only after I send them the filter and they recieve it would they ship my replacement (not an option in my circumstances). Instead Amazon's wonderful customer service shown through again, and within 3 days they had replaced the entire set. The second set arrivided without flaw but since my other two filters were in perfect condition I traded just the 812. I havn't had any other issues and i'm very satisfied with my filters. The only other word of warning would be to that of the circular polorizer. While I recieved 2 that were flawless occassionally I have read in reviews customers have received ones that were assembled backwards making the lens useless. A quick way to check to see if your CP is working correctly is to hold it, thread facing yourself, and look at an LCD monitor or TV and spin it until the picture dissapears(obviously working correctly). I still wouldn't pass up this deal knowing what I do now, chances are everything will show up perfectly but none the less if you're concerned order it before you need it and check everything over carefully. Amazon is always the best for returns and will often ship a replacement the next day with overnight shipping. And a little further insight...
I was recently doing some black and white film photography, and decided to use my 812 warming filter as a protective lens as I was carrying 3 lenses with me. Just thought that I would mention that using this filter will produce a "White" sky in some outdoor photographs. The shots were taken with a gradient blue sky to which the entirety showed up white, even on bracketed sets, that should have shown something in one of the series. While itself was a interesting effect for some shots, it mostly just caused me frustration in the darkroom. I just wanted to add this as fair warning. I discovered this on accident, so I don't know if it applies to all sky conditions as I didn't do a lot B&W sky shots, I might test it using Photoshop later as I see they have the 812s effect built in. Anyways, good luck and have fun photoing.

I use this bag to haul around my Nikon D80 with the kit lens, along with charger cabling, etc. with plenty of room to spare. There are 2 internal compartments sized for SD card cases, 3 separate pocket areas in the front, and the usual Velcro type compartment arrangement for the camera and gear. I am told the case is large enough to accommodate the D80 with the 18-200 VR lens fitted as well, but I don't yet have that lens to verify it myself. The camera sits lens down in the compartment. The single zipper design makes for fast access and secure containment of your gear. There is also a built-in microfiber cloth, and the pull-over rain fly is a nice touch as well. The build quality is top notch, the only complaint I have is that once you remove your camera, the weight of the bag's flap is enough to make the bag fall over if you leave it open.

Retrospective 10 (Black) Review

In my personal opinion/experience I've found Think Tank to be the brand to go to for top of the line camera bags. If you've got top of the line expensive equipment why not invest likewise in the bag?
Said that, I will try not to come off in this review as a bias "Think Tank" fan boy. To note, I have tried out other shoulder bags in camera stores and spent hours reading reviews from photographers on the field on their opinions on various camera bags before deciding upon this bag.
Then another headache and hurdle I went through was deciding upon the Pinestone or Black color (which I evidently went with the Black as it was more of a neutral color and could easily go with your various attire plus be used at more formal events).
I believe this is a fantastic bag to carry around short trails, to the beach, and especially around urban settings as a casual bag for travel. If you want something to go on for long hikes I'd probably look into getting a backpack or waistpack, in which this case I use the Think Tank Speed Demon which can be used as a smaller shoulder bag or waist pack when I want to travel even lighter. The bag is slightly heavy but feels like a Tank and could take a beating.
By no means is this a small bag, even as the smallest of the retrospective series it's a pretty large bag, but still within a bearable size to sling around town. The comfort padding along the shoulder strap is most welcomed and even for its size another reason I do try not to over pack the bag and weigh it down. You can fit 2 bodies with non-grips (recommended to reverse in opposite directions so their prisms don't bang against one another) or you can fit your D-SLR (non grip) body + standard size zoom lens attached with 2 more lenses in this bag with no problem. The bag is pretty deep and given you could probably thrown in a couple more lenses if they were small primes. It has a designated pocket within to keep a speedlite if you so choose to desire. There is a designated zipper and non zipper pocket within the interior dimension, with the outside pocket which they say you could fit in another dslr body only or an Ipad if you so wish - I personally just keep this outside pocket to keep trail food and snacks in while the zipper pocket on the other side to store the wallet, phone, and keys.
For event shooting and many other reviews you'll find on this bag the velcro options to silence the flaps is a cool feature which is very usable for events or churches. As with most Think Tank products is does give the option to attach accessories which sometimes I may loop my "R U Thirsty" Think Tank bottle carrier on one end when on a short trail or around town.
I will get to uploading a picture of the bag being worn to give a better idea of the size of the bag.

Tamrac 3370 Aero 70 Photo Backpack (Brown/Tan) Review

Tamrac 3370 Aero 70 Photo Backpack (Brown/Tan)
Average Reviews:

Reason for buying: Had a Slignshot 100 with D60 originally. Then I upgraded to a D90, which barely fit in the Slingshot 100, so I needed new bag! I saw this in a local camera store, loaded up my D90, flash, extras, and asked to borrow their 70-200mm f/2.8 to see if it all fits. Yup, it does very well.
**Edit Sep 2010 - Added Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S DX to my kit.
Equipment used in bag:
Nikon D90 w/Nikon 10-24mm with lens hood attached.
Nikon 18-105mm VR
50mm f/1.8
SB600
Charger/Cables
Note: Something will have to go to fit the 70-200mm f/2.8, which would probably be the flash in the top section. You could always get a Tamrac medium flash gun case and strap it to the shoulder. Then, you'd have all your gear in one nice and small pack! Actually, you can fit the 70-200 with reversed hood in the top, along with the SB600/800 in the top. You just have to have the flash in a soft case so it doesn't hurt your 70-200mm!
Pros:
Works wonderfully with the D90 with 18-105mm VR kit and would fit the Cannon 5D w/28-135mm lens. Please view the pics in the customer images section.
Enough room for and expanding D90 kit.
Decent nylon backpack construction
Discrete! Looks very much like a small backpack...not an SLR bag.
Nice color tan/black. I also have the all black and it looks sweet as well.
Fits water bottles in the side mesh pockets. A sandwich, light jacket, apple, can be stuffed in the top among other nick knacks.
Cons:
No weather shield. Need to carry a 13gal plastic bag or something similar to shield it from the elements.
Not quite enough pockets in my opinion. It does have a mesh pocket in the top compartment and a zippered pocket in the main flap. But, you can easily just throw your own gadget bag in the top.
So there you have it. The Aero 70 is simple and small yet roomy, which looks cool and can surprisingly hold a nice camera set-up.
I hope this helps!

Zing 520-202 ZXB1 Large Zoom SLR Cover (Blue)
Average Reviews:

I bought this for my Nikon D90 with the Nikon 18-200 and 70-300 lenses. Although the description of the case states that it will fit a lens up to 7 inches, the case will not close with the 70-300 zoom. (This lens measures about 6 inches in its fully retracted position.) It does close with the 18-200. The "snout" of the case is rather narrow and will not fit over the Nikon-supplied hood (carried in the reversed position) for either lens. Because the 18-200 and, to a lesser extent, the 70-300 are prone to flare in some conditions, this is a serious issue.
The case appears to be a clever idea that should offer meaningful protection for a small sized DSLR with a short zoom. However, it is a poor choice for a D90 with two of Nikon's most popular lenses. Ratings reflect the case with the Nikon D90 and the 18-200 and 70-300 VR zooms.

Very good but not the best available from Marumi. Remember this is 52mm Marumi DHG (Digital High Grade) Circular Polarizer as mentioned in the product description. The pictures for this product are misleading as there are of the 72mm "Super" (= better coated) line of filters from Marumi. Even then, this is supposed to be technically better than most other well-known brands according to [...]. My decision to buy this was based on their assessment. I must say I am quite happy with the performance of this product for the price (I would have preferred "Super"). See my user pictures for more details. Good luck!

Perfect fit for Nikon D90 with Nikon 18-200mm VR zoom lens with lens hood attached (reversed). Also room for camera strap attached to camera and polarizing filter (in its case) but that fills the main compartment. Front pocket has room for remote, extra SD cards and extra battery. Convent top handle, belt loop and shoulder strap. Has some padding but probably not enough to protect the camera if the bag is dropped. Fairly easy to access equipment and carry bag. Material and construction appear first class. Fully met my expectations but if you need to carry extra lenses or filters this is not the bag for you.

As some folks have said it's an auto focus lens, but not for the lower end Nikon bodies. It doesn't have the auto focus motor built in so you need to focus yourself. It's still called an auto focus lens because it will auto focus with the correct camera body.
I have a D3000 and it's a compact body so it needs the lenses that have the motor built in. If you look at the back of the lens where it mounts to the camera you can see a silver keyed pin and this is what's driven by the cameras that have an auto focus motor. If you don't want to focus manually on these cameras, you'll need the one without the drive pin.
Even without auto focus built in the lens is easy to use and the pictures are clear. While you are buying, be sure to get a uv filter for it in 52mm. I had a spare because I bought two for my d3000 when I purchased it. Also, since you need to focus, make sure you adjust the view finder so your focus is correct. I had mine set incorrectly and when I though the picture looked good I was actually focused on something else.
Another thing, the zoom and focus are quite stiff when brand new and loosen up as you use it. I've got about 200 pictures on it and it's good. It feels good and solid. The Nikon one feels a little nicer but the price for the Quantaray is good.
My next purchase will probably be a 18-200 that they make so I don't have to switch out from the 18-55 and 55-200 on the fly.

California Sun Sniper One-Padded Sniper Camera Strap (Black) Review

California Sun Sniper One-Padded Sniper Camera Strap (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't know anybody that has gotten fond of their camera strap unless that have also gotten in the habit of holding onto their camera. I can't speak for everyone, but everyone I know has a problem with a Nikon D? hanging from the strap around their neck. It doesn't take long for you to want to grab the camera and take the pressure off of your neck. A full day of this is hell for an older person, while younger people just get use to it.
Here is the solution to the age old camera strap. The SunSniper doesn't work like an ordinary camera strap in two important ways. The first is that the camera isn't fastened to the strap. The strap is very comfortable, and the camera has a very sturdy part made of three metal parts that are securely connected together. At one end it attachés to your camera through the tripod mount at the bottom. Thee parts are engineered very well, and are very strong. At the other end of the metal parts is a D ring, but it's not really a D shape, it is a rectangular shape, as it goes around a flat strap. The camera is free to move all long the strap.
The strap has padded shoulder pads that are very will designed and can be adjusted to be anywhere on the strap. The idea is that everyone will have to adjust the strap to suit themselves. The strap is a sling type, so it goes cross from your shoulder to your opposite side, more like a seat belt.
Your camera can ride anywhere along your side, or on your backside, it's up to you where the camera sets when you are not using it. The main thing to note is that you won't be holding it, this is because the weight is not pulling on your neck.
When you want to take a picture, you simply reach down and grab your camera, as you raise the camera up it is sliding up the strap with ease. You will feel not resistance from the strap as you take your pictures. When you are done, you just rest it back down the strap and let it rest.
A video might be in store to demonstrate the ease of using this Sunsniper strap. I have tried to carry my camera will all kinds of straps, but this is the one to end that search for the perfect strap. There are others like it, and I won't dear say that they are not as good, but the design will be similar. I can tell you that I am a fan of fine engineering, and the Sunsniper was not made in any cheap way. It is rugged, comfortable, simple and easy to use.

Camera cases offer better protection, but they're too inconvenient for walking around. These neoprene shells are a nice compromise.
FYI, it's too small for the Canon XSi (I bought this one because another reviewer said it works with the XTi). The lens portion is long enough for Canon's 55-250IS lens, but due to the size of the XSi body the "extended flaps" don't wrap around the bottom of the lens enough for the velcro attachments to line up. I returned it and ordered the 520-202 version instead, which fits the XSi better.
Also, although Amazon's stock photo looks purple, it's actually a much nicer dark blue color.

I got this unit because it was recommended for a Nikon GPS project. The instructions required this puck to be ripped up and the working innards to be relocated to a tiny project box along with Nikon's MC35 cable innards. I am happy to report that this is a snappy SIRF Star III device which now contributes to lat long and UTC time stamps on the EXIF data on my Nikon D300..
