I normally buy nothing but Canon made accessories but I don't need a wireless remote shutter that often and decided to try a less expensive alternative. It was a good decision. The Vivitar unit works just as it is supposed to do and provides all the shutter functionality in a remote unit without the wires. I haven't tested the range since I'm usually within 20 feet of the camera so I can't comment on that particular feature; but, for my purposes I'm very pleased with the unit.

(More customer reviews)I currently own a Canon Rebel XSi. I did a little research on remote shutters before deciding on the Aputure Pro Coworker Remote Shutter. I ultimately chose this remote for its use of RF radio frequency over infrared by Canon's RC1 and RC5. I was able to leave my camera in one room and walk over 50ft away, and while pressing through 2 walls still getting instant triggering.
Some things to note: if you insert the transmitter in to the hot shoe slot, the pop-up flash is disabled. No biggie just let it dangle or wrap it around the camera/lense somehow if you are need of the flash. Also, this remote does not require you to change the drive mode to "Self-timer/Remote control." Whatever drive mode you set your camera for, is what will be used if you leave the remote trigger on continuous shutter release.

If you are going to sell the off brand, list it as such. I still would have purchased for the price but do not like being deceived. The listing says this..."Wireless IR Remote Control Shutter Release ML-L3 For Nikon D40..." The item number is this: "ML-L3 REMOTE" The product description even states that it is an ML-L3: "NEW! Wireless (IR) Remote Shutter Release ML-L3 for Nikon D40, D40X, D50, D60, D70, D70S, D80, D90, D3000, D5000, F55, F65, F75, N65, N75, Coolpix 8400, 8800, Pronea S, Nuvis S & Lite Touch Zoom Cameras

" I would expect to have gotten this item. Not the off brand. I am very disappointed as the remote does not even work that well.
