Digital Transmitter and Receiver Kit with Mono Plug Review

My status: Professional amateur.
My equipment, Canon EOS 1D IIN, 2 580EXs, & the microsync system. I purchased a mono female 1/4 plug from radio shack(3.99)and I spliced it to a mono plug (or whatever port your flash has) that plugs directly into my flashes. Works flawlessly. Successfully fired strobes from at least 90 feet...For my purposes (portrait, wedding photography) this is more than adequate...Love the size of the transmitter, looks very professional on my setup. The recievers are a little bigger than expected(pocket wizard sized), but who cares they will be tethered to my flash lightstands. So far no trouble with the "occassional misfires" I have read on the web. Would reccommend to anyone wanting to take their photography to the next level....

The MicroSync Digital is the smallest smartest wireless solution for firing strobes and cameras. The Freedom of Wireles:Whether your'e shooting in the studio or on location, firing your strobes with a sync cord can be impractical, inconvenient, and sometimes even impossible. Not ant more! The MicroSync Digital wireless strobe sync system allows you to fire strobes wirelessly. So liberate yourself from the limitations of your sync cord.Ultra Small, Light and Convenient:The MicroSync Digital is revolutionary because it is super minature, extremely lightweight, and almost operates itself. Just place the transmitter in the hotshoe of your camera, plug the receiver into your strobe's powerpack and fire! Its that easy.Automatic Power Management:The MicroSync Digital has a unique automatic on/off power management system. There are no on/off switches on the transmitter or the receiver. When you press the shutter the transmitter turns itself on, sends the signal to the receiver, then turns itself off- all in milliseconds. Because of this advanced power management system, the battery life of the coin cell in the transmitter is anticipated to be 3 years.Four Channels:There are four channels on the MicroSync Digital to allow you to shoot without interference from other MicroSync users in close proximity.

After researching for days as to what to use as an off camera flash firing solution, I finally decided to take a chance on these Yangnuo triggers. No they don't support E-TTL, nor do they work with high speed sync, but for the price, you simply can't beat it, so I thought "why not?". They arrived, came with everything as promised, and as soon as the batteries were in, everything was ready to go!
Now I'll be the first to admit, with such little money put into these, I was expecting middle of the road results, contrary to the reviews on many sites have said, but sure enough, this trigger/receiver set prove every positive review absolutely correct. To date, with over 100 flashes put through 2 receivers, I've not had a misfire yet! To me, that's the most important aspect of these as that's what they're supposed to do. As an added bonus, if you're not using them for off camera flash, attach a receiver to the camera's remote outlet via supplied cord and use the transmitter as a remote shutter. It even allows a half-press for focusing and metering before you fully depress the shutter to take the shot.
After my use of this product, I can simply say that, yes, most of the time you get what you pay for, but in some rare cases, this one included, you get much more.
