(More customer reviews)I love this J-Cube device. I use it on a Canon 7D and Panasonic GH2 for mounting audio accessories and sometimes LED lights. But this little piece of gear was pushing $85!!! Why on earth does that have to be THAT expensive?!? Really, there is nothing else out there in the market that can do what the J-Rod can at this size, so I guess J-Cube is the only game in town. Please, someone make another product to compete with this.
You might think you don't need something like this, but once you get it, you'll never know how you lived without it.

1. sturdy build, all aluminum, SOLID all around
2. small, perfect fit on DSLR cold shoe
3. enough separation of the shoe mounts to hold an LED light, wireless transmitter, and Zoom H1
CONs
1. price is absurd, this thing should have been $40 - TOPS!
2. why does J-Cube need to put their product name and info on the device? Seems tacky
3. no competition out there to lower the price of such a necessary contraption

What attracted me most in this one is that it's rechargeable by electricity so no need for batteries (which equals extra space and weight), and it's bright enough for my needs (interviews). I don't know if it's enough to cover the room but for one person being interviewed (as well as for few people at the table or wherever, for home video), it is just perfect. Didn't have chance to see how long it goes on, but simple fact that it's so small and light (slides into the pocket) bought me at first sight.

(More customer reviews)This is a dynamite little package. In one test I did, it illuminated an entirely dark (as in no light at night) twelve foot square room adequately enough for good low-light shooting. With ambient light, it's great. It is lightweight especially with 4 disposable lithium AA batteries which last about 7 to 8 hours (4 for $10.00). The light is bright without the blinding glare of a single bulb and stays cool to the touch. There is no color shift when dimming the light. The movable frame that flips up and down is very flimsy so be careful with it. Mine easily comes off and I have had to tape the diffusor to the frame to keep it from falling out. But in all fairness, I rarely lift the frame so it is almost irrelevant. I use this light on a Panasonic DVX 100B with an external shotgun mic. My only real complaint is the knob that allows the light to move forward or backward is between the light mount and mic making it very difficult to adjust. It is challenging to tighten it enough by hand to avoid any movement so they have incorporated a slot in the knob so one can use a coin as a screwdriver for the final tightening. This is tough with the light still mounted on my camera. On cameras without an external mic, which is probably what this product was designed for, I don't think the knob position would be an issue. I still wish Lightpanels had put the knob on the opposite side or better yet, made it reversible. If not for that, I would give this gem five stars. I have reviewed some of Litepanels more expensive products at their showroom in Burbank, CA. All were terrific. They are a top flight company and I would give them five stars.

I was using a standard video light with a shoulder strap battery pack. These are awkward and heavy to carry around. And the light has NO DIMMER so bright is the only setting there is. And don't even think about battery life, half way through a wedding the light is so dim it was no longer effective. who has the time to recharge your battery pack when there is so much going on at your event. Not Me. And don't even mention the battery cord tangle problems...

But then I ordered this model of the 126 LED video light. All I can say is WOW. It will except about 6 different styles of rechargeable battery packs (with the battery adapter) or you can just pop in 6 AA batteries and you are on your way. The LED's DO NOT give off the heat like the standard bulbs and have a low power draw so you can keep filming for longer periods of time. When your batteries do get low (check power level with a handy one push test button) just change out your 6 AA batteries (about 45 seconds) and you are back to catching the action. This light is a life save in my business. With the three defuse-rs (three different colors) you can go from a hard spot type light to a very warm soft flush. With full control of light intensity with it's built in dimmer on the side of the unit. Whether you are a beginner or professional, this light is a must have. I use it now for my [...] videos and could not be happier. Lightweight-Powerful-great light output- and NO CORDS.

(More customer reviews)This is a very powerful LED light. I use this if I absolutely have to for wedding receptions. You don't want to use this light for the bride and groom's first dance on a dimly lit floor, as it will absolutely kill the mood of the event. It does have a dimmer and some diffusion, which are both needed. Without any diffusion and lights on full power, you can forget about your subject ever seeing again. I'm thinking about different ways to use this light for a hair light or a fill in certain interview settings. I love the fact that you can use so many different battery types. I use the Sony NP-F970 for extra length, however, it makes my camera (Sony Z1U) very heavy for any handheld shots. Good purchase for me.

(More customer reviews)I've tried several similarly sized lights and this is the best one so far. It's very bright, the dimmer goes down to almost nothing, it doesn't emit the annoying high-pitched whine that some lights do, and it comes with 2 color-correcting filters and it's easy to cut out a piece of gel and slide it in behind the diffuser if you need a different gel.
The only problems I've seen so far are: It's a little big (it takes 6 AA batteries). The construction of the swivel arm at the bottom is not the best and it seems a little loose; I wish it was removable so I could replace it with a more rigid shoe mount --I wouldn't want to be moving quickly with this mounted on the camera. There's nothing holding the filter in the holder so it can easily fall out, but it's nothing a little piece of tape can't solve.
