In one test I did, it illuminated an entirely dark (as in no light at night) twelve foot square room adequately enough for good low-light shooting. With ambient light, it's great. It is lightweight especially with 4 disposable lithium AA batteries which last about 7 to 8 hours (4 for $10.00). The light is bright without the blinding glare of a single bulb and stays cool to the touch. There is no color shift when dimming the light. The movable frame that flips up and down is very flimsy so be careful with it. Mine easily comes off and I have had to tape the diffusor to the frame to keep it from falling out. But in all fairness, I rarely lift the frame so it is almost irrelevant. I use this light on a Panasonic DVX 100B with an external shotgun mic. My only real complaint is the knob that allows the light to move forward or backward is between the light mount and mic making it very difficult to adjust. It is challenging to tighten it enough by hand to avoid any movement so they have incorporated a slot in the knob so one can use a coin as a screwdriver for the final tightening. This is tough with the light still mounted on my camera. On cameras without an external mic, which is probably what this product was designed for, I don't think the knob position would be an issue. I still wish Lightpanels had put the knob on the opposite side or better yet, made it reversible. If not for that, I would give this gem five stars. I have reviewed some of Litepanels more expensive products at their showroom in Burbank, CA. All were terrific. They are a top flight company and I would give them five stars.
