(More customer reviews)I bought this for my son when he bought a Nikon D3000. I liked the idea that the DVD covered his camera.
This video is definitely for a novice photographer, and my son learned quite a bit from it. However, the reciprocity relationship between ISO Speed, Shutter Speed, and Aperture was not quite explained fully, so I had to fill him in on that.
So while not perfect, I think anyone new to using a DSLR, and especially a D3000 that is covered in the video would find it would jump-start their photo hobby.
Note that there are several editions of this video on the market place, one for just a D3000, one for just a D5000, and one that has both versions on it, and likely one for the D3100 in the future.

What is the greatest part of this dvd is you can go to the dvd and practice what ever you want to over and over by rewinding or fast-forwarding the dvd. It will show you how to take better pictures and understand all the features of the d5000 camera and it is done where a beginner can understand it and you can pause the dvd and practice what you have learned over and over.

(More customer reviews)There is plenty of learning material on the Nikon D5000 in this Nikon School DVD. The instructor is patient, speaks clearly, comes across being very friendly and informative, and you can see his passion for photography by the way he talks about photography. At first, I thought I saw this movie and paid for a DVD which was a free video download from the Nikon website. The first couple of scenes are free on the Nikon website, the rest of the DVD is not. Even the free scenes have extended footage on the DVD only. I would recommend to watch the movie several times to really absorb the material - I could feel my brain getting full about half-way through the video and decided to split it up over two days and to give myself a chance to practice what I saw. There are plenty of practical examples in the video too, once you watch the entire video, you can just skip to the section you care to watch again through the menu. This video has become a useful reference for me.
