(More customer reviews)I use this to mount my older Hi8 digital camcorder for recording beach volley ball tournements and it holds up well to the strong on shore breeze. This thing is made of alumninum and is very light for its size. Its also strong, I set up a Nikon DSLR and hooked my bookback in the middle of the tripod as counter weight. It was holding at least 15lbs. You can point it in any direction and orient the camera how you like. big plus for me because i like to point my camera at the sky.
the locking mechanisms allow you to control how tight or loose you want to be able to move your camera very well. at the appropriate tightness, you can move the camera very smoothly and it will stay in place when you let go, but make sure its not too loose. all the tightning nuts can all be adjusted by hand too, including the piece that connects to the camera(ive seen some tripods that require a screwdriver).
this tripod is sturdy, and can be set up very quickly. and it packs up nicely. i can attach it to my rebel camera bag with no problems.
Im very happy with this tripod.

I used this tripod as a tripod and though it was pretty good, then I needed a boom in a studio shoot to hold a Canon 7D/batterypack/77mm lens at full extension. Amazingly this tripod held the camera steady while being held by the leg ends horizontally. It did bend a bit (as carbon fiber should) but never broke, craked, or made any noise. This was a real stress test since it was used in an unintended manner with a 5+lb weight on the ball socket and it worked very well. If you have a Manfrotto/Bogen - get this one for a spare!

Dolica CX620B104 61-Inch Proline Carbon Fiber Tripod with Ball Head Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this tripod for a little over a month now, and have used it maybe a dozen times. I had a good first impression of it, but it has degraded pretty quickly (and I've been as careful with it as with any other photographic equipment). Specifically, the ring used to lock the center column is too easily overtightened, to the point that I've needed pliers to collapse the center column after shooting. The ball head is poor quality; when framing a shot precisely you'll notice the head has a tendency to drift significantly when trying to lock the position down.
The last straw came a couple weeks ago when one of the smallest telescoping leg sections broke off about two inches from the inner end (the tripod had not been dropped or otherwise received any blunt force; this is from normal use). This leg now cannot extend as far as the others, will not collapse fully, and will come all the way out of the middle leg section if extended too far.
For the low price, I did expect some compromises in quality, particularly with the ball head and other locking/release mechanisms. I did not expect the hardware to essentially fall apart within two months of normal use. I no longer trust this tripod to support my camera, and suppose my next purchase will be a real, trusted brand of tripod. In retrospect it would have been better to pay for a good tripod initially, rather than paying twice.
