(More customer reviews)I've had this bag for about a year and a half, and it's remarkable. As others have said, the movable/removable velcro dividers provide enormous flexibility, and there are plenty of pockets and strong zippers. The walls and the velcro dividers are well-padded and they secure the contents well to prevent most movement and vibration. There's a little pocket in the bottom front that contains a nylon shroud that can be pulled out to help secure the bag from dust and moisture.
It's a good size: large enough to hold the essentials but not so big that I load it with my entire household (and then have to lug all that extra weight). In the main compartment, mine holds a Canon 20D body, a 17-85mm zoom, a 50mm prime lens, a 70-200 f2.8 zoom (BIG), Speedlite 580 flash, plus polarizing filter, battery charger, spare AAA batteries, and a USB cable. There are other compartments that hold another battery charger and extra rechargeable battery for the camera (the speedlite and the camera use different rechargeable batteries), extra flash memory card, various booklets, maps, and guides, airline tickets, and various other odds and ends.
There are loops on the back of the bag so that it could be attached to a backpack, though they don't look like they'd support much weight for very long.
When I'm travelling, I can sling this bag across one shoulder, a notebook PC case across the other, and still carry a modest suitcase. With all my stuff in it it's barely 12x8x10 inches. Strong, comfortable shoulder strap, comfortable handle, rubber footpads that keep the bag pretty much off the surface, and expansion pockets all over the place.
Seconding what another person said about the color: the green is more subdued and attractive than the photo suggests.
Everything about it just exudes quality. I'd buy it again in an instant.

(More customer reviews)This item performs very well, especially with front chest harness. Keep in mind that the weather cover doesn't completely encase the bag. The back is still exposed (but touching your chest). This TL Zoom bag is slightly better than other Lowepro TopLoads since it has extra compartments and side straps for mounting lenses, and the waterproof cover. The cover has a nice feature too of being permanently attached to the bag, so it doesn't blow away. The front 2 pockets actually expand with a drop-out velcro bottom so you can easily store a large mini tripod (such as the SLR gorillapod zoom). The top front pocket, when in dual-pocket mode, would store a small (3") lens adequately. The top D-Rings for chest harness are metal. The side D-rings are plastic, but very sturdy. This bag is a bit long, but only 5" thick, so it sticks out from you body about 1-1.5" less than all the other Lowepro TLZ bags. When measuring your camera system, keep in mind to add the Lens hood length, because if you are getting this bag, you probably want quick and easy access to your camera, which means it goes in bag while out shooting with body+lens+hood on and ready to go. So this adds an extra 2" to most lens+camera length requirements. My normal usage mode is to strap bag to chest, strap camera around neck and store camera in bag with zippers slightly open, to accommodate the protruding normal camera strap. All-in-all a great product! I give it a 5-star, even though it's a bit long for me, because it's cheaper than the other TLZ all-weather bags.

Lowepro Flipside 400 AW Backpack (Black) Review

*plenty of storage volume. I could fit a Nikon D80 plus 12-24 f/4, 24-70/2.8, 70-300VR, 18-200VR, SB-600 flash without problem. I can see one fitting a mounted 70-200 f/2.8VR or 300 f/4 without problem. I've also used the bag with a hood-on 24-70/2.8 mounted on a D700, plus a 70-300VR hood-on with room for another hood-on big lens.
*The two straps on the top side of the bag can hold a small jacket in place, the two side mesh pockets can fit sizable waterbottles, plus a tripod holder at the back : how much more do you wanna carry?
*All weather cover for adverse weather conditions.
*As a bonus, one CAN sqeeze a laptop in (I could fit a 14.1" wide screen thinkpad T61 with extended battery pack) after some valco re-configuration effort, while carrying a non-gripped body plus 4 lenses. You don't want to do it often but for air travel alone it is doable (not very comfortable for your back however).
*You can really tighen the waist strap on your body, flip the bag to your front side, and access the content without additional support for the bag. provides a secure platform for lens changes while on the go.
*the flipside design (camera compartment can only be opened from your back's side) is very secure. no by-stander can open your bag without going through you.
*the size is okay for air travel.
The bad?
*it is a bit too big/bulky for daily use. And on heavier loadings (10 pound total weight or more) the bag isn't all that comfortable when i first got it. it was a bit stiff all around. 2 months later and now it gets slightly better. but not at the comfort level of compurover that i tried.
