(More customer reviews)First off, this tripod does not have a fluid head - so no, it's not ideal for video where you need to pan around a lot. But if you need to pan, the side to side action will be much more smooth than up and down. It is great for stationary video or photography, especially where you need some extra height. The legs are steady and so is the center extension - even at full height. Works great at conventions or workshops - you can set the camera high enough so no heads will walk or stand in front of your shot. It is also high enough to reach over most other standard tripods - once again to help get a clear shot. The head locks down tight with three separate mechanisms - one for each axis. The crank for the center extension is plastic but solid and well constructed. The teeth on the center extension are made of metal for added durability. The camera attachment for the head has a metal bolt and metal butterfly to hand tighten onto the camera. Overall, this tripod is solid, well constructed and very affordable. I would definitely buy again, but it seems this one is going to last for a long time.
