(More customer reviews)When I saw this item, it was newly released. There were no reviews, and I was somewhat hesitant about purchasing it.
Now that I own it, I love it and would recommend it to anyone doing macro photography.
First off, the housing is made of a very durable plastic (yes I dropped it onto concrete on accident) didn't even scratch the outside.
The LED's are mounted behind a milky colored plastic housing, yet they put off a bright white light.
There are 12 LED's, so it gives a nice even lighting of the subject.
The camera I am using it on is a Nikon D-3000. First thing I found, is turn off the flash and the camera will adjust to the lighting perfectly.
The charge on the battery lasts quite a while. I have used mine for a combined total of around 5 hours and it still shows a full charge.
The charger it comes with is actually a USB output charger that any USB cable would fit into. That being said, you can actually charge this light
from any computer USB port. The instructions say that it will charge even while you are using it in AC mode.
The housing is threaded on the front and back, so you can add a filter, lens-cap, or macro lens onto the front so you dont have to keep removing the light from your camera lens.
Do Not tighten this light when you install it! If you do the automatic focus will cause it to turn with the lens and if you are using the screw mount on the bottom of the light with a tripod
it would probably break. I screwed it on until it touches and then backed it off one full turn. It works great like that for me, since I have a 3" tripod mounted on it to help me steady my shots.
