(More customer reviews)I am a birder and own several pairs of good binoculars. I seldom go anywhere without one or more with me. I keep a lens pen in a pocket most of the time, and have additional ones in my car, backpack, etc. Lens pens are pretty much a generic item, they all seem to work about equally well, but these are as good as any.
Just being outdoors is an invitation to accumulating dust and grime on the lenses of optics. Dust, pollen, moisture, etc. are always in the air, and it is all too easy to get a smudge of finger grease.. Simply using a cloth to clean a lens is an invitation to scratches. The tiniest bit of grit can make a mess. Using the brush to remove all loose material is an invaluable help in avoiding the problem. Once the dust, etc., is cleared, using the rubber cup with the carbon dust is easy and a real help in the field. Generally, moisture from a puff of breath is a real help or even necessary to remove stuck on materials, finger grease or etc. The pen works well on spotting scopes as well as binoculars.
The only complaint I have is that the cap covering the rubber cup comes off a little too easily in my pocket. A more positive click on and off or even screw threads would be a big help.
This is an inexpensive protection for valuable optics that are not easily repairable once damaged by scratching.
