This camera is amazing! It's very small, it has an excellent screen, & the accessories included are as good as the camera. It charges very fast, the battery life is great, & it's pretty easy to use.
Con: The speaker is very soft when you playback a video or voice memo, however the beeps you hear when you press buttons are loud.
Overall: I highly recommend you buy this camera. It's sleek, easy to use, the pictures are excellent, & it has many features.Fujifilm FinePix 12.0MP Digital Camera with 4GB SDHC Card and Camera Case - Black (Z70)

This worked out to be a great little cam for my 8 yr old daughter. She was well able to use it within a week. Also she enjoys making short videos of her friends and her pets.. Did not come with a book, that was a bummer, the software disk didn't have a demo, maybe its just me maybe I missed something :)

I purchased this camera about a month ago and have taken approximately 2,000 pictures to date. I've taken indoor, outdoor, telephoto, macro, everything except the video. Sorry I should have played with that too, but it is not the primary reason I bought this camera. I wanted a camera that expanded the capability and control of my small point and shoot camera, an Olympus C-50 (which I am quite pleased with). I am very happy with the results of the S9100.
This is a substantial camera. It feels more like my Nikon 8008, so don't plan to put it in your pocket when you take it on a trip. I have had three Olympus digital cameras and was looking to purchase another Olympus but I was disappointed with their offering in the ultra zoom class.
Because I already had several xD cards it was a plus that this camera gave me a choice of two different media types. I also liked the manual zoom because this camera felt familiar, like an SLR. Using AA batteries was another plus I was looking for. I see some folks say they are disappointed with the battery life, but I haven't found that to be a problem. I use 2900mAh NiMH Rechargeable Battery and I have yet to run out of juice on photo shoots of over 200 pictures. I have not used alkaline batteries, but I understand they do not last nearly as long. I use the EVF more than the large digital display (probably from old habits of 35mm cameras) and that may have something to do with it too. I think the manual zoom has to save a lot of battery power when compared to some of the competition.
There is a lot of discussion about image stabilization, and I never had it in my other cameras, so I don't seem to miss it. I haven't had many blurred photos but I do use a mono-pod or tri-pod when it is appropriate. But even hand held, this camera produces excellent images even up at 1600 ISO. There is some noise, but I don't think it is too bad. Printed photos come out excellent. I have several printers and a large format HP plotter that can produce 36" x 36" prints and I am very pleased with the results.
This camera has excellent versatility, the zoom is great and the macro mode gives you wonderful capability to really get in close. I have been shooting primarily .JPG but have experimented with .RAW. From what I read this format it will extend my ability, but I need more time to learn about RAW processing before I can provide an intelligent discussion. I like the idea that RAW is there if and when I decide to use it.
In conclusion, I am happy with my purchase and would buy this camera again. If you are looking for an alternative to a dSLR that provides a lot of versatility and control this one merits a close look.

The video clip was taken with my JX250 in my living room to demonstrate its optical zooming in movie mode as well as its indoor video quality. The video size was set to the lowest setting, 320x240 (QVGA). The 43-second clip takes up 24.5MB, in AVI format. Notice that there is no sound during zooming, and there is a clicking sound at the end of each zoom -- it came from the lens refocusing at the end of the zoom. Towards the end of the clip I tried to shoot a scene outside the window but the thick window screen prevented the camera from focusing properly.
The JX250 is a new ultra-compact 14MP 5x optical zoom digicam released by Fujifilm USA in April 2010. It's really small, measuring 2.7"x2.2"x0.7", and weighs 4.5 oz. including battery and SD card. (Yep, this Fuji takes an SD/SDHC card, not the old xD memory card.) The camera body's metal construction makes it feel solid and high-quality.
The JX250 is designed as an "idiot-proof" camera, meaning it's got all the automatic modes but little manual control. Indeed, the only semi-manual controls are exposure compensation, white balance choice, and ISO setting (100-1600, up to 3200 in 3MP or lower).
As is always the case with ultra-compact cameras, picture quality is not something you'd be boasting about. For an ultra-compact the JX250 takes very good ourdoor shots and decent indoor shots. Note that this camera does not have Fuji's famous SuperCCD technology, which makes the indoor shots not as good as the Fuji's with SuperCCD; in other words, its indoor image quality is average when compared to other name-brand ultra-compacts like Casio, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, or Olympus. The JX250 is best used as a companion "little camera" to a workhorse camera with better picture quality, such as a digital SLR or a compact (not ultra-compact) from Canon, Panasonic, Nikon, Sony, Casio, or Fujifilm's own bigger offerings.
The JX250 has 5x optical zoom, yielding a zoom range of 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format equivalent, which is admirable for an ultra-compact. At the 28mm end, you're getting wide angle, great for scenic shots. It's only appropriate that this camera has a panorama mode. The lens is Fujinon, which is a high-quality brandname in the lens business.
The optical zoom operates very fast -- and you can zoom optically in movie mode, whether you're shooting in 720p, VGA or QVGA. Three things to note, though: first, sound is not recorded during optical zooming, you'll just get silence as you operate the zoom lever; second, at the end of the zoom, as the lens refocuses, the mechanical sound is recorded and can be heard, which can be annoying; third, I think the zoom is too fast for fine control. But it's really nice to have optical video zoom.
As a still image camera, the JX250 offers scene recognition as well as smile detection, face detection and blink detection. Indoor shots with flash are surprisingly good (at least for an ultra-compact). When shooting, you can choose the have the framing grid displayed, which is recommended for good framing practice. (This grid allows you to follow the "shoot in the thirds" rule.)
Typical of consumer-grade digicams, there is noticeable, 1/2-second shutter delay. (If you want zero shutter delay, get a digital SLR.) There is a convenient "silent mode" which turns off speaker, flash and self-timer lamp. (Hmm, I wonder if someone is going to use this as a spy cam, which, of course, may be illegal in your locale.) The JX250 uses SDHC cards and has 24MB of internal memory which can be used in an emergency. The LCD screen is 2.7 inches diagonally; out-of-box, there is this thin protective film over it, which you may want to leave it be to protect the LCD. The physically small LiIon rechargable battery is rated 720mAh and about 180 shots (half with flash); as always, I recommend a spare battery, especially if you plan to travel with this camera. Initial battery charging took about 90 minutes at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The companion software is compatible with Windows (all versions) and MacOS. The JX250 comes in black and silver; both colors are available at my local Costco, where I bought this for under 130.
In short, I find the JX250 to be an excellent secondary digital camera that can be taken anywhere (except under water) and allows you to capture pictures in a hurry (except situations that require 0 shutter delay). It supports 720p movie mode with optical zooming and despite the limitations in sound recording, makes a good personal video camera, too.

The FinePix JX250 employs a 14-megapixel CCD, a 2.7-inch high-res LCD and a Fujinon 5x wide-angle (28mm-140mm) optical zoom lens. Soft, curved edges give it a sculpted, sophisticated look. Encased in a high-grade brushed aluminum metal body, it's not only well protected from bumps and scrapes, but features a simple, yet elegant design. The JX250 also has a new mode dial for additional convenience and functionality.HighlightsHD CapabilityThe new J-Series models all offer stunning movies in 720p with sound and high quality stills at 1920x1080. Tracking Auto FocusPreviously featured on Fujifilm's DSLR-style FinePix, the new J-Series models feature Tracking Auto Focus which is perfect for when you need to take a picture of a moving subject and can't keep your subject in the frame. Just switch Tracking Auto Focus on and it will track your subject and ensure that you achieve a crisp picture with you subject in the center of the frame in perfect focus.Smile & Blink DetectionPhotos are all too often spoiled by people blinking or grimacing. Smile Detection works with Fujifilm's highly-acclaimed Face Detection technology to detect smiles on faces: it will not take a picture until it detects a smile, so you're guaranteed happy shots! Another new feature is Blink Detection which warns you if you have captured an image with people blinking, to reshoot if necessary.Additional Features• Digital Image Stabilization reduces image blur and offers creative adaptability and excellent picture quality.• Face Detection and Automatic Red-eye Removal: To provide perfectly exposed and focused portrait shots, each J-Series model is fitted with Fujifilm's latest Face Detection technology which is able to track up to 10 faces simultaneously, at almost any angle to the camera. The system instantly corrects red-eye and then saves both the original and the corrected image file automatically

The batteries last as much as all the other batteries so its not all bad. The charger does charge the batteries quicker and both in the house and in the car. The down side I have seen so far is that the positive and negative symbols on the battery are placed actually in the wrong spot. Maybe its just the ones I got, but if you can figure out to put battery in backwards quick enough the battery becomes useful. And no there are no safe guards on the charger or battery to prevent placing battery in backwards in the charger other than the LED light. There are no instructions for the LED either so I will give you a hint. There are three colors. Green, yellow, and red. Catch number 2! If you put the battery in backwards the LED will turn green. But if you put the battery in the correct way and assuming the battery is dead the light will start red, turn yellow half way through charge, and when it is finally fully charged it turns green. YES putting the battery in backwards flipping the charge has the same color light as the battery being fully charged. Also if you dont put a battery in the charger but the charger is plugged in the LED will be green. So don't mix up the difference between fully charged, backwards, and plugged in. After you figure out the puzzle it does get the job done. There is no mAh displayed on batteries so there is no defined amount of charge to store. It does have it labeled as a 3.6v battery, even though my original with the camera is a 3.7v battery they still seem to be interchangeable and both work.

(added a couple of pics in the comments section)
I don't think it's possible to stress enough what an awful photographer I am. I've had cameras five times as expensive as this in my hands and taken blurry, yellowed and just dank-looking shots. I really, really suck at taking pictures. I wish I could give you all sorts of details about the lenses and shutter speeds and all that, but frankly, that's all beyond my expertise too. I'm a really, really basic camera user. Point and click, that's me.
This is like the Jitterbug of cameras. Even I took good pictures with this. It's basic, it's simple and me-proof. Setup was so easy; you just follow the instructions on the screen (a good thing, since all you get in the package is a huge foldout sheet with the very basics in French, English and Spanish) and go from there. From then, it's just trial and error, but I mostly just left things as they were and still managed not to fudge anything. The zoom worked perfectly, as did the flash. I took three shots in a row: indoors, my subject two feet in front of me in low light; in front of the window, my subject about five feet away from me; finally, outdoors, a wide shot in direct sunlight. All turned out clear and sharp and I never changed a single setting except to zoom in on my close subject a bit and out when I was outside.
The camera's much smaller than I expected, although it's nice and heavy. I've already found that the big LCD screen is a fingerprint magnet, no matter how much I try to protect it in a case I have. I'm getting quite a bit of life out of the battery; I've been taking quite a few pictures and it's lasting four or five days between charges.
One note: whatever you do, DON'T download the software that comes with this. I did and ended up in a maze of software upgrades that took me almost an hour to work through before I threw my hands up and uninstalled everything and just went with the basic hooking the USB cord up and letting my computer installing the driver on its own and using my own choice of program to view the images.
Software headache aside, I'm very happy with this, as basic as it is. It doesn't have a lot of advanced options, but truthfully, I not only wouldn't know what to do with them anyway, if I did, I'm sure I'd only end up messing up whatever pictures I took anyway. This is perfect for a bumbling photographer to take great pictures with.

Offering wide photographic versatility, a new Panoramic Shooting mode allows users to create stunning shots of sweeping landscapes and large groups of people. Just slip it in your pocket and go and have fun! Fujifilm FinePix J40 Highlights Pint-sized Compact At a mere 20mm thin, this slender little camera is the perfect companion for someone who likes to carry their camera with them at all times, and does not want it to take up too much room in their bag, or be too bulky in their pocket. Big on Style The FinePix J40 may be low on cost but it's high on style. As well as its adorable petite frame, the FinePix J40 has been finished with a special double coated lacquer to give a beautifully glossy, varnished finish. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom The FinePix J40 is fitted with a high quality Fujinon 3x zoom lens, ensuring you can get up close to your subject. Big Screen It's easy to view and compose your photos using the FinePix J40's large and bright 3.0-inch LCD screen. Plus, try the Microthumbnail View in playback which displays up to 100 thumbnails of your photos so you can quickly find your favourite shot. Easy-to-use The J40 has been designed to make taking photos fun and easy. With a simple and intuitive graphical user interface it really is a joy use. Memory storage The FinePix J40 is compatible with SD/SDHC memory cards. Plus there is an extra 10MB of internal memory so you don't have to worry about filling up your memory card. Fujifilm FinePix J40 Features Impressive Panoramas The FinePix J40 features a handy Panoramic Shooting mode. So now you can create stunning panoramic shots in-camera. All you have to do is take three consecutive shots of a scene and this clever technology seamlessly stitches them together to create one superb panoramic image. High-Resolution images With 12.2 megapixels, you will be amazed at the clarity of the images you take: clear, sharp and packed full of colour. Let us do all the hard work Fujifilm's Scene Recognition Auto (SR AUTO) technology makes it easy to take good pictures. It intelligently detects a scene without the need to pre-select a mode on the camera. Having identified the most commonly photographed subjects, Fujifilm has developed technology to automatically recognise different scenes; Portrait, Backlit Portrait, Night Portrait, Landscape, Night and Macro. Just point at the scene and let the camera adjust the settings to optimise the results. Easy! Perfect Portraits For perfect people pictures Fujifilm's Face Detection technology cleverly detects faces in the frame and sets the focus and exposure for the faces rather than anything in the background, revealing sharp and in-focus portrait shots. No More Blur The J40 is kitted out with Picture Stabilization, which minimises image blur that can so often ruin photos. Fujifilm's stabilization system works automatically and ensures that image blurring and camera shake are kept to an absolute minimum. Make a Movie Capture more than just a picture - re-live your memories in their full glory, with sound at 30 frames per second. You can even use the zoom function during movie recording. Good in low-light Photos taken in low light are the ones that are most likely to produce disappointing results. Limited flash range and direct light can mean the foreground is harshly lit and the background lost all together. If the flash isn't used at all, the image can suffer from digital interference called 'noise' as the sensor struggles to pick up all of the detail in the scene. Fujifilm has put 70 years of experience in imaging into fine-tuning the light sensitivity and flash systems of its cameras and you perhaps wouldn't normally expect a camera placed at such an affordable price point, to house such technology – but we can assure you - it does. Scene it? With 17 special scene modes, the J40 is ready to shoot everything and anything, from "Sunsets" to "Flowers." Have fun trying out each scene position and the camera automatically selects the appropriate shutter speed, exposure and white balance to ensure that you get great images with the least amount of effort.
