(More customer reviews)Unlike point and shoot compacts such as Canon etc offerings, the DP1 is designed for photographers. Trying to use the DP1 as a point and shooter will result in the same slowness to focus etc that plagues all compacts. This camera is best used as some Leica owners use Leicas - manually preset focus and be ready for instant use. You should also turn off the lcd and the sleep mode and keep the camera ready to shoot. For this the viewfinder is required. A little expensive but it gets the job done.

The Sigma VF-11 Optical Viewfinder mounts on the hot shoe of the Sigma DP-1 Digital Camera and allows users to frame images without using the LCD monitor. This saves battery power and also provides for more precise image framing, especially in bright ambient light conditions when the LCD display can be difficult to see.
