(More customer reviews)Finally, someone realized that women can be photography hounds too!
I was looking for a bag that I could put my Sony DSC-HX1 and accessories into so I not only would have a safe way to transport my camera, but have all of the extras that go along with it. I went to a couple of places and looked through a lot of the traditional camera bags, but I kept coming back to this one. It fitted my needs perfectly!
The inside is gold/tan and padded with a strip of velcro going along each side of the purse and a strip on each end going from top to bottom. There are four large moveable "wall borders" to separate the items from side to side and two smaller ones to separate from the bottom or top. There are also two very narrow pads that came attached to the velcro strips on the ends, but I haven't been able to figure out what they're for yet. I was able to fit my camera, a smaller point and shoot camera (Sony DSC-W300 - in its own padded case), a ziploc bag with a charger for each camera and four batteries and cleaning kit, the HX1's teleangle conversion lens, and I have an extra space for personal items such as a sunglass case and my keys. The top zips across to close everything in.
There is also a zippered pocked on the other side (from the bag's stock photo). I was able to fit my (small) wallet, cell phone, and memory stick holder in a flat row with a business card holder doubled onto the wallet. This side does not have the straps going down all of the way to the bottom of the purse (they attach at the top of the trim) so the buckles are only on the pictured side.
With what I have packed in it, the bag measures 14" long, 5" wide (looks like it could go a little wider), and 8.5" tall not including the straps (21" including the straps). And it is comfortable on my shoulder to carry it around. If you usually carry around a sizeable purse, this shouldn't be a problem for you.
The tag says that it is polyvinyl, which I think refers to the straps and trim. The rest of the outer bag feels like a slick canvas. The straps and trim are double stiched in white which you can see when you zoom in on the photo.
Overall, this is really a great bag for women who don't want to lug around a bulky camera bag AND their purse!
UPDATE: I now carry a Sony Alpha DSLR-A550 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only), Sony SAL18250 Alpha DT 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens w/Lens Hood, Sony 28-75mm f/2.8 Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) Full Frame Lens for Sony Mount Digital SLR Cameras and Sigma APO 70-200mm f/2.8 II EX DG HSM Macro Zoom Lens for Sony Digital SLR Cameras in the main compartment of bag along with their hoods, two extra batteries, and some personal items (sunglass case, water bottle, tissues, keys, etc.) and there is still some room to spare.
The one thing that I now wish the bag had is a long side pouch where I could carry my release forms.
And I've found that most people do think it is a purse. When I went to an event at a sports arena, the guard checking bags at the entrance said that it was the most organized purse he'd ever seen. And as a bonus: since my husband knows it's a camera bag, he doesn't seem as uncomfortable holding it as he does when I ask him to hold my real purse.
