This adapter works well with my M42 lenses. They line up the way they should when attached to the adapter and camera. (markings on lens point up) The only small issue I had was, when I first tried to attach the adapter to my camera the EOS mount caught at the point it should have clicked to lock. Cautious I turned the adapter back off and looked at the camera and lens, all looked good. So I tried again. It caught right before the click again. So I gently gave it more encouragement and it made a quick grinding noise and then clicked into the locked position. After taking the adapter off, it looks like part of the adapter circuit board had been scuffed off. The circuit board that contains the focus conf. stands up about 1 mm by my guess and it run into the metal contact inside the camera. There usually is a small slope to partially push in those contacts before reaching the actual adapter contacts. The adapter did make that grinding noise a few times and now it clicks in with very little noise/effort. The contacts on my camera actually wore a slope in the adapters circuit board. (I will attempt to upload a customer photo) There is a small amount of slope on the board, but not enough. No damage to my camera from what I can tell. Would have given 5 star except for the issue noted above. Another quick note when in aperture primary mode the camera registers the adapter as a f/1.4, I have no idea if this affects the performance of the camera.
