I have Pentax 645 from the 1980's with five lenses sitting idle since I stopped using film. This adapter allowed me to use these lenses with a Nikon D700. Results were quite good. The usual concern with this type of item is the bayonet fit. It worked well on both the D700 body, and the 645 lenses. No play or wobble. Not too tight. Tolerances just right. I was able to focus to infinity with all lenses.
Everything is manual with these lenses. Focus is manual, and aperture is manual. Use the M (manual) exposure mode on the D700. To focus, you turn the f/stop ring to wide open so you can see. The Nikon electronic range finder (green dot and arrows in viewfinder) work as you manually turn the focus ring on the lens. When you have focus, you close the aperture ring until the exposure scale in the viewfinder indicates exposure is correct. Or, set it by number while looking at the f/stop ring on the lens. The viewfinder does not display the proper f/stop (as expected). Shooting with the lens wide open is easier, of course. You just focus and shoot. I would recommend using a tripod if you are not shooting wide open.
The 35mm was exceptionally sharp, beating the Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 by a noticeable amount at f/4 (didn't test other f/stops). The Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 was close in sharpness, but the Pentax was still better in the corners. The 120mm f/4 Macro, and 75mm f/2.8 also did well. The 45mm f/2.8 was disappointing. The 200mm f/4 was OK.
