Although not the right solution for close up photography, it is the right now solution. I do not shoot a lot of macro stuff, maybe once or twice a year, if that often. This set of magnifiers works great for me and what I do. Maybe it is from years of using point and shoot cameras and just knowing how to set up a shot, but I don't really mind having to do a little extra lighting set up, and taking test shots to be sure I get a good picture with these lenses. No they won't replace a proper $600+++ macro lens, but if you take the time to set up your shot, they provide a great now and then solution for a lot less cash.
