I'd never been a fan of monopods before. I wanted to take one on my trip to Yellowstone, mostly to not have to carry or setup my bulky tripod. I'd never heard of Vanguard before, but in shopping around their brand kept appearing with nothing but good reviews. I figured for only $100 (monopod and ball head) it was worth the risk to find out if this brand could hold up. After using it for 4 days with my Nikon D80 and various lenses... the largest was nikon's 70-300mm zoom - I'm sold on their brand. The monopod (Tracker 364) and ball head (SBH-200) are both rock solid. They're well constructed, and most important, their monopod is longer and just as light if not lighter than the expensive brands. The ball head is smooth at any tension. The twist-lock leg sections never collapsed. My only issue - which isn't really an issue - is that the bolt that secures the quick release receiver to the actual ball worked loose after the first day. A quick turn of an allen wrench and that was fixed. No complaints. I'll to replace the pan/tilt manfrotto head on my tripod with another Vanguard ball head. Nice job Vanguard!
