(More customer reviews)I purchased this to mount on a Springfield M1A Scout that has a mounting platform forward of the action, so long eye relief is necessary. The competing scopes were Burris and Leopold fixed power scout scopes (2.5-2.75x). Because the 308 cartridge is capable of long ranges, I wanted a scope that had variable power beyond the fixed, lower power of traditional scout scopes.
The optics on this are very crisp and the Bullet Drop Compensator in the sights are designed for a 308 (which is not a pistol cartidge) and the parallax is set for 100 yards like a traditional rifle scope.
The price can't be beat, especially when combined with Nikon's $30 BDC rebate and lifetime warranty.
