(More customer reviews)This is a great help to shade the view screen from the sun,to preview your pictures for exposure, focus etc. Its a vey nice fit on the Nikon D300S and feels almost like a factory item.Although it has some flaws, its a really handy item. The feel of the plastic and the color matches nicely with the back of the D300S.The buttons that cover the Menu,Lock,Magnifier,Reduce and OK buttons fit perfectly and seem to have a better "touch" than the Nikon buttons. It is well thought out and easy to install and remove. One especially excellent feature is that you can remove just the pop-up shade component when you don't need it and the rest stays on the camera back.It even has a photo-glass cover that fits over the D300S's LCD thus acting as a permanent easy to clean screen protector. However, the four prongs that attach it to the main part are a little thin and only time will tell if they hold up to repeated installs and removals. The main body of the screen protector attaches snugly to the Nikon by removing the camera's rubber eye cup.sliding it over the now vacant eye cup rails and clipping into the slot under the LCD where the annoying Nikon screen protector normally snaps in. A new rubber eye cup is provided with the device, so you can put the Nikon provided one away.I did notice the eye-cup pops off sometimes especially whenNikon D300s 12MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) lifting the camera out of my fairly tight fitting camera bag.For about $25.00 this item is a best value in my book. The Delkin shade could use a couple of little improvements:More robust prongs or mechanism to attach the pop up shade to its main body, more secure attachment of eye cup, recess the sides of the main body where it is near the D300s's buttons;especially the LiveView and Info Buttons on the right side.
Of course the biggest issue is that once its popped open you have to manually close the shade by squeezing in the sides with your thumb and forefinger to close it if you want to use the eye level viewfinder.Be nice if they could figure out a way tha the pressure of your forehead could close the shade.I highly reccomend this Delkin Pro Pop-Up Shade and Protective Cover.

Delkin Pop-Up Shades are LCD screen protective covers, which also double as glare guards. These sturdy and lightweight covers are easily installed (and removed), but most importantly help to protect a digital camera's expensive LCD screen. When flipped up, the shade provides easier viewing of the display in bright sunlight.
