(More customer reviews)I've purchased 3 of these. They are adequate to hold a flash and umbrella, but not a machined high quality item.Does it work - yes. It clamps to the light stand OK, tilts and locks down OK, but lacks the refinement of those holders it is copying. The tiny knurled screw to hold the flash hotshoe is too small and hard to tighten/keep tightened and there are some sharp edges and corners that should have been removed. It is designed to handle speedlights without shorting the electrical connections and I mount radio control devices between this bracket and speedlights without any problem. It uses a little spring piece of metal to provide some friction on the umbrella shaft until you lock it down, but this makes it difficult to install the umbrella without quite a bit of pressure to get it started. I would say it's worth the price and gets the job done, but don't expect it to be very refined.

(More customer reviews)Originally I didn't like this umbrella bracket, but I changed my mind. This model is different from the model other sellers are offering at higher prices. I didn't like this cheaper model, because there is no tension screw for the cold shoe mount. You just slide on your flash and it holds the flash foot snugly by friction and you can partially slide that tension lever on the flash to hold it down better. It works fine for a 580EX II. The biggest advantage is that, since the cold shoe mount is a lot less substantial, this umbrella mount seems to weigh a lot less! I'd say maybe 40% less weight? It has a metal mount just like the more expensive model, but without that tension screw and the more complicated design, it's a lot smaller. The rest of the plastic mount seems to be the same as the other mount. Works fine. If this fits your flash shoe foot, it's one of the cheapest, lightest weight umbrella mounts out there.
