Pros:
Rocket ship Fast!
High Image Capacity
Great Price
Absolute reliability so far, no lost photos or formatting problems, NONE!
Cons:
None
The card came preformatted but I found by formatting it with the camera you could get a few extra shots.
Card Use in Windows XP and Mac OS X
What a difference when I downloaded the photos I had taken, mama meia! This thing rocks downloading to both my Dell Windows XP and my 24" iMac!!! It reacts more like downloading from a hard drive. Cut's your download time way down, instead of going to get a drink or take a break you are ready to view your photos in seconds instead of minutes!!
Card use in a Canon Digital Rebel XTi
I have never used any other card beside the Transcend 266X 8 GB in this new Rebel XTi so I don't know how slow or fast it is with another card. But with this card it ROCKS!! My Rebel XTi would in sports mode consistently shoot 30 rapid frames in 10 seconds flat at Large High Quality JPEG before slowing down to store the buffer.
Please note that the higher the ISO setting the lower the number of photos you can store on the camera.
Image Storage Capacity count when in a Canon Rebel XTi set at 100 ISO:
452 RAW + JPEG Large High Quality
804 RAW
2075 JPEG Large High Quality
3974 JPEG Large Medium Quality
3442 JPEG Medium High Quality
6524 JPEG Medium Medium Quality
5974 JPEG Small High Quality
9999 JPEG Small Medium Quality JPEG Small Standard (display only goes to 4 digits)
Card use in a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D
I noticed little difference in rapid shooting, probably because of the limits of the Minolta 5D it would shoot about 8 rapid fire frames in JPEG Large Extra Fine mode and 16 rapid fire frames in JPEG Medium Extra Fine before slowing because of the buffer.
Image Storage Capacity count when in Minolta 5D at 100 ISO:
635 RAW + JPEG Large Extra Fine
846 RAW
1302 JPEG Large Extra Fine
2286 JPEG Medium Extra Fine
4916 JPEG Small Extra Fine
9143 JPEG Small Fine
9999 JPEG Small Standard (display only goes to 4 digits)
In closing, now I'm going to have to buy a spare battery for my Rebel Xti for those long shoots. I run out of battery power long before I run out of room to store photos. This is especially true when shooting a wedding where in the past I was afraid I would run out of room for shots and I hate changing out cards on the fly as I might miss a great shot. Now it's a no brainer shoot the entire wedding on one card and blaze away no worries!
4-15-2008 Update
I have taken over 20,000 photos using this card on a Rebel XTi and over 6,000 on a Canon 40D without a single error! These cards simply work and they work well. I wouldn't shoot with any other card.
7-24-2008 Update
I have over 30,000 photos on the Rebel XTi with this card and over 20,000 with my new Canon 40D. I've even dropped one from waist high accidentally and watched it bounce. Not a single problem, every photo file is there and undamaged and I'm still amazed at how fast these cards are. And the price now $79!!! What are you waiting for!! I paid over $100 when I first bought mine.
