Canon Speedlite 540EZ Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I upgraded from a Speedlite 300ez to the 540 and am very happy with it. The flash is very powerful and recyles quickly allowing me to shoot fairly rapid shots in low light.
In addition to being a show mounted flash it can serve both as a slave and as a master for additional 540s. This allows you to set up shots with fill flash from multiple directions using the TTL metering.
Overall I'm very happy with this flash and recommend it for anyone looking for a show mount flash.

A member of Canon's Speedlite family, the 540EZ is a high-output, auto zoom, shoe-mount flash with a maximum guide number of 54/177 (ISO 100 meters/feet). Compatible with all Canon EOS cameras, Speedlite flashes automatically evaluate shooting conditions when you depress the shutter button, and set aperture and shutter speed appropriately. The direct-coupling clip-on type A-TTL (advanced through-the-lens) automatic flash was designed with professional and advanced amateur users in mind. The 540EZ has a number of useful features, including AF auxiliary light, A-TTL preflash, auto zoom, and bounce functions, and there are seven zoom stop positions: 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 80mm, and 105mm--all of which translates into a flash capable of illuminating a variety of complex situations. The 540EZ requires 4 AA batteries.
