(More customer reviews)I use this flash with Sony A700 with Minolta 100mm f/2.8 macro and Tamron 180mm f/3.5 macro.
I already have the Sony macro twin flash, but this ring flash is much more useful. It is easy to carry around mounted on the lens, it is faster to set it up, the light is more uniform and it is wireless. All you need is 2 AAA batteries (yes, AAA. Two of them. That's it!) and you are ready to go. Unlike the Sony twin flash, you can get 72mm ring, so you can mount it on the Tamron.
The IR clip is just genius (it is a small black clip that you put on your built-in flash and it blocks the visible light and transmits only IR for wireless control). The built of the flash is very good. You can easily control the ratio and the angle of the two light source. Also the AF helping lamp and modeling light are very useful.
I wrote the review as a Sony user, but the same unit can work with all the companies (Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax and Samsung). You just set it up and it recognize the wireless TTL information. If you have a camera that is not one of the supported, the flash can learn your camera signals! (I didn't try it, but it is a very cool feature!). Moreover, there is a USB port for future updates, so if one of the companies changes the wireless protocol, the flash will be updated!
It seems like Metz engineers thought about everything and manage to create the perfect flash!
I don't think I can find something bad to say about it. I am just sorry that I struggled with the twin flash for so long...
